Yea it doesn’t really add anything does it

frugalkitty · 24/02/2023 23:13

It's a good job it's bedtime......I'm going to need a lie down to recover from the fact that I like the Erdem dress! I'm sure I liked another one recently too. What's happening to me?????

Spudlet · 24/02/2023 23:26

@frugalkitty I quite like that dress too! I feel all discombobulated 🙃

Leti though. Mate. No.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/02/2023 01:53

Oooh @frugalkitty & @Spudlet you'll both be wanting to join mine & @TangledWebOfDeception's Erdem club next 😂

I blame my love of Erdem on the fumes from the Charles Worthington x Erdem 'Front Row' dry shampoo & volume spray that I used back in the late noughties & early teens 😆

I love Flora Vesterberg Ogilvy's dress. The pink dress with the white, black & pink geometric flowers that Leti was wearing has the Erdem vibe even though it's Temperley.

Did I say how much I like Erdem????

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/02/2023 01:53

Culprit 😂

Tiara set with opals anyone? I think it's lovely:

MotherofPearl · 25/02/2023 08:37

Lovely opal tiara. I have a brooch set with tiny opals (posted a photo of it on here before) which I feel would match that tiara very well.

All you Erdem lovers need an intervention! Grin

CliffsofMohair · 25/02/2023 09:21

From Berkshire as well. Maybe Kate is selling the family jewels on the quiet

Spudlet · 25/02/2023 10:24

@CliffsofMohair Gotta fund the green coat habit somehow 😂

Eaumyword · 25/02/2023 10:45

Ooh I love Flora Ogilvy's dress! Had a 👀 moment when I read 'New Look' underneath 😂😂 Thought, ooh they've upped their game somewhat, haha!
Loving the opals too, they are so pretty.

KillingMeDeftly · 25/02/2023 11:14

Like Freddie Windsor, Flora has quite a Hanoverian look doesn't she? Especially in that dress, she looks like she wouldn't be out of place in a Regency ballroom.

TangledWebOfDeception · 25/02/2023 11:31

Ahh more lovely Erdem! 😍😍 And more Erdem fans! 😁😁

Love it but I do think it would have looked much better with a belt in one of many other colours. Something light and fluffy. Bag to match. The black shoes can stay to ground the whole thing nicely.

TangledWebOfDeception · 25/02/2023 11:34

But @Maireas and all my other Royal S&B aficionados, I’m sad to say I’m leaving MN for good! This thread is one of two or three that I shall really miss! I’ll have to hang out here as much as I can over the next week or so before I go.

Maireas · 25/02/2023 11:41

Oh no, @TangledWebOfDeception ! 😢
Please don't leave us!
Is it something we said? Would you like another tiara or possibly a palace? 🤞

TangledWebOfDeception · 25/02/2023 12:02

😆😆 Well I wouldn’t say no to a few more pieces to add to my collection!!

Nah if course it’s not anything any of you have done/said!

I’m very angry with MNHQ.

Not happy with their drive to ‘sex up’ the site - not happy for new mothers to be aggressively targeted with sex toy ads. Not happy with the collab with Ann Summers.

Not happy that MN are going to keep a 7-day registration for new members to post in the sex topic (inviting all sorts of weirdos and creeps in to colonise a topic that might at one point have at least potentially been a place where women could go for advice without having to deal with the aforementioned weirdos and trolls).

I’m incensed that above and beyond that, they’re now hosting a sex chat without any age verification and have been horribly blasé about safeguarding in that regard - and surprise surprise already having to delete descriptions of and references to illegal and immoral acts which I won’t go into (at users behest, I add, rather than an automatic moderating decision, which is even more appalling!).

Justine replied to a safeguarding and CSA expert’s very well thought out questions and comments about the sex topic and recent developments with a glib message basically saying no matter the overwhelmingly negative response they’ve had from users of that topic and users of the general board, they’re proceeding anyway; nothing to see here, no problems, and an insultingly stupid attempt at fobbing off. Absolutely unacceptable for a parenting site and a space that has historically been built for and primarily used by women.

I am incensed. So I’m not staying here to swim in that kind of sewage and contribute to their new brand and the direction they clearly want MN to take in future.

Sorry to bring such serious things into this light and happy topic. But I couldn't just go without saying goodbye! I’ve really valued this lovely thread over the years and especially since I came back around the time of HMQ’s death.

Maireas · 25/02/2023 12:08

@TangledWebOfDeception - I actually didn't know any of that, so thanks for the information.
We'll miss you, you're part of our lovely crew and contribute so much that is interesting and funny. 😘

I agree totally @TangledWebOfDeception, it's actually quite staggering how MNHQ is responding to some very valid concerns.

Maireas · 25/02/2023 12:22

I didn't know any of this.
Thanks for the heads up.

frugalkitty · 25/02/2023 12:23

Oh Tangled!! We'll miss you very much, thank you for being such a fab member of our gang.

Has anyone claimed the Fife tiara?

TangledWebOfDeception · 25/02/2023 12:49

I’m so sad as I’ll really miss hanging out here. My principles won’t allow me to just read along without being registered either, as I don’t want to help revenue with my clicks.

Justine has come back this morning saying, oh, we can see we got this so wrong. We’ll do what you asked and remove the sex topic from Active Threads, we just didn’t realise it could go so wrong...blah blah blah. But it’s too little too late for me. I’ll post my reply here.

You really should not have to have US tell YOU about safeguarding and moderation in respect of hosting sex chat on a parenting and primarily women’s site. Shame on you for allowing that shit to take hold in the first place! Shame on you for proceeding with allowing people to join up purely for the sex topic. You must have known (or you SHOULD HAVE, anyway! You should not need these things explained to you!!) that it’s not a good idea in respect of the overall feel and tone of that topic and secondarily on the site itself.

I’m really sick to death of us doing your work for you. Sort your shit out in this respect. How can you be so stupid? Really! ‘It’s a site for grown ups so people can share what they want...’ That’s the best you could do??

And let me just add I’m quite happy to have been ungracious in my response. This isn’t a little dining room table outfit anymore. It hasn’t been for a very long time.

Your window for getting things monumentally wrong on security/GDPR/sex chat and safeguarding/branding direction, matters of taste and decency as well as potential illegality is long past and you really can’t keep being so lax. Otherwise at some point people will stop giving you the benefit of the doubt. I can’t stay because I don’t know what ludicrous mess you’ll get this site into next time. I’m not willing to scream and shout every time anymore.

I’m very grateful for what you’ve done for women over the past few years. Truly. You’ll always have my respect for that. But IMO you’ve made piss poor decisions on this particular issue.

Sorry for the derail.

(I’m going to stick around until a few others have found a space to move to and when I’m sure of where it’s all going I’ll be gone.)

01189998819991197253Sheldon · 25/02/2023 12:51

if I had my mitts on granny’s chips tangled, I’d smuggle one out in my cardie for you.

My inner Nan has plenty to say on the questionable direction but I regret to say I would not put it as well as you. It worries me and although I’m not a partaker of those discussions, the thought of being thankfodder (give us a clue - sounds like - sorry Lionel and Una) troubles me. It worries me even more if littles are involved.

Godspeed if you must. In vintage Dior and sparkles. But I hear you.

Maireas · 25/02/2023 12:54

Blimey, I knew none of this. Sheldon, we need Nan more than ever.

MotherofPearl · 25/02/2023 12:55

Oh no@TangledWebOfDeception that is sad news. And worrying to hear this stuff about what's been happening. I've been oblivious.

@frugalkitty the Fife tiara is 100% mine and has been for years! Back away immediately! Wink

TangledWebOfDeception · 25/02/2023 13:22

Ah well, I’ve got it out of my system. Thank you for listening.

Back to fashion, I think I might have to go tiara shopping today. Need some distraction!

I couldn't open the links to the Princess with the very long name article(s) posted earlier...so I might have a little look on the pc and get myself a new trinket.

CliffsofMohair · 25/02/2023 13:24

@TangledWebOfDeception i knew none of this.
