I think they're in the Cayman Islands @CliffsofMohair. I'm not keen on that dress or the others shown on NMR. Too many tiers and frills for me.

MotherofPearl · 22/02/2023 19:40

Sorry, my post referred to Sophie and Edward being in the Caymans.

CliffsofMohair · 22/02/2023 19:54

I didn’t much love the other Caribbean tour dress either. The blue frills one. Funny that there has been two tours of the Caribbean in a year. Wonder if this one will be better received.

I am quite fond of the blue Me and Em dress!

Random fact about the Duchess of Kent - she is a direct descendant of Oliver Cromwell! Which also means she is descended from Thomas Cromwell too…

KillingMeDeftly · 22/02/2023 21:16

Almost but not quite. Oliver Cromwell was descended from Thomas Cromwell's nephew rather than Cromwell himself.

DuchessOfPort · 22/02/2023 22:32

the Duchess of Kent has always seemed like a kind person - she passed Diana’s mother a tissue at Diana’s funeral.

Gooseysgirl · 22/02/2023 22:36

My staunch Catholic Irish granny (died over 30 years ago) ADORED the Duchess of Kent... she would have been seriously impressed by her religious conversion 😆

CliffsofMohair · 22/02/2023 22:41

I like this outfit from Sophie.

I have always liked the Duchess of Kent's wedding dress; those late 1950s-early 1960s wedding dresses have often stood the test of time.

@Gooseysgirl Your staunch Catholic Irish granny would have been horrified had she known of the link between the Duchess of Kent and Oliver Cromwell.

Oliver Cromwell is very unpopular to put it mildly because of his treatment of the Irish when he and his army came over.

I too think the Duchess of Kent is lovely. Unassuming and I should think gentle and charming.

Gooseysgirl · 23/02/2023 08:12

@LadyEloise1 the irony is not lost on me 😆 Granny was also a fierce nationalist! As are many other Irish people I know who still have a fascination with the RF!!!

Serenster · 23/02/2023 10:36

Oh CliffsofMohair I also love that outfit on Sophie!

KillingMeDeftly · 23/02/2023 11:10

This is interesting - some hitherto unseen photos of Charles and Diana with baby William that are shortly to be auctioned off.

LadyEloise1 · 23/02/2023 15:27

Lovely photos but what a shame they were put up for sale and not donated to some Royal palace / house or given to Charles or WilliamSad

CliffsofMohair · 23/02/2023 18:36

Little Princess Estelle turns 11.

@Maireas can I possibly request COV’s crown if not already acquired? I LUFFS IT

CliffsofMohair · 23/02/2023 18:37

This time with pictures …

Love Sophie's outfit - can't quite make out where skirt and bag from ,

Lovely shots of CPV and Estelle

Eaumyword · 23/02/2023 21:42

Love Sophie's outfit there. Big thumbs up!

themessygarden · 23/02/2023 21:50

Love Sophies outfit, its perfect.

MotherofPearl · 23/02/2023 23:22

Isn't CPV wearing the steel cut tiara there? It's a great picture.

I like Sophie's outfit too, though if I was nitpicking (and when aren't I? Wink), I wish her blouse was less high-necked and that her bag was less fussy. Love the skirt though.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 23/02/2023 23:54

Love Sophie's skirt but I would have worn a plain black too in either silk/satin/velvet as I feel the frills are not needed as there's lots of detail in the skirt. Like shoes, bag & earrings too.

I wish Charles would make them the Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh as his mother wanted. They do a lot of work for 'The Firm' & don't cause any fuss.

Katharine (my fave spelling of the name) The Duchess of Kent is beautiful in her wedding dress & I've always liked her.
I've always thought how ironic that a descendant of Oliver Cromwell married into the royal family. Cromwell must be turning in his grave.
It's like Stalin's great grandson Jacob Jugashvili deciding to marry a Romanov descendent.

That is a beautiful photo of CPV & Estelle
I can see a resemblance to Lenore & Sophia of Spain in Estelle, well they are cousins a few times over as descendants of Queen Victoria.

StartupRepair · 24/02/2023 02:44

Estelle in the group photo with a faint look of 'when did I sign up for this?'.

StartupRepair · 24/02/2023 05:44

Looking at Sophie's Cayman Islands wardrobe she clearly is not prepared to relinquish the floral midi dress.

KillingMeDeftly · 24/02/2023 09:07

Daisy is in hospital for (unsurprisingly) a back operation and will be out of action of a whole so Fred has been taking on her duties. He and EBG are off to India next week - I'm sure she'll enjoy queening it up over there!

Gooseysgirl · 24/02/2023 10:14

Totally agree about Ed and Soph for DoE, but I have no idea how it works if James doesn't want the gig when he's older? Maybe Ed can come to some kind of agreement that the title goes back to the crown on his death? Anyway they have definitely earned it, hopefully KC can find a way to make it work - it would be a nice Ann
