What have you wasted money on recently?

I had my very pale eyebrows shaped and dyed but it wore off after a few days and the wax caused ingrown hairs. I'll stick to dying and shaping them myself.

I also had my eyelashes dyed and permed (up, not curled over iyswim) I liked the dye and will have that done again but the perm was just completely pointless. 🤣

What have you splashed out on recently and afterwards wondered why?

I’ve started with my rapidlash serum now. I’m not a patient person but I will be applying it daily and checking every 30 seconds for signs of growth 😂

Jewelanemone · 06/02/2023 13:58

I've just bought some Revitalash. There'll be big trouble if I don't end up with lashes like that Muppet character 😊

I think I stupidly wasted money on a nursing bra even before making a full decision to BF or not , and my breast size is still changing, so I think I completely wasted my money on it. If I decided to BF, I may need to buy again with the correct size later on

The Elemis cleansing balm - the orange coloured one. Really underwhelming. The way people go on about it was expecting great things. No particularly fragranced - I thought it would have a 'fresh' fragrance. Skin felt dry after using. Admittedly only used once and will use it up but not impressed so far.

RicciardoPerez · 08/02/2023 17:33

Hmmm I hate to say this but the Nars Radiance primer. At 31.50 a tube, I expected a nice glow but nothing. Just an expensive spf essentially as it does contain spf 30.

Back to the drawing board for that glowy primer

A couple of long sleeved thermal t-shirts from m&s. Cost £25. I was duped by the advert 'You don't need to have the central heating on if you wear these '. How dopey was I? They're not warm, nor are they comfy. I've bought better in Primark. I'm a twit.

bizzey · 08/02/2023 17:58

Oh no ! You have just reminded me that I bought a thermal top from M&S as well .
I haven't tried it on yet ☺️.

lindyloo57 · 08/02/2023 20:38

@CriticalAlert which one were they, there are two kinds the thin ones and the thicker ones, which I have, I find them very warm.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 09/02/2023 10:04

@BestIsWest if you haven't done a charity shop run, Lands End customer service used to be pretty good. Haven't tried lately. Might be worth a conversation.

I did the same BUT now I'm reading about the side effects on another thread and thinking 'no mate'

BestIsWest · 09/02/2023 11:25

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants ahhh, they’ve gone already! Thanks though. Good to know.

I've got these and find them incredibly warm, if I'm doing stuff around the house I just have the thermal and a top over it and I'm toasty. If I'm sitting add a hoody or jumper and I'm fine until it gets into late evening.

A dyson hairdrier. It is light and will dry my hair in 6 minutes on the top heat/speed but leaves it like straw. It's no quieter than my old £10 one and isn't that much quicker on a usable setting.

Also the revlon one step. Meh. It's nothing special. I'm getting my hair cut short so we'll see if it works better on that.

Just came across this reply; thank you @AnnaMagnani

About the eye colour change/serum

Olverum body products suck IME. So weird because the bath oil is absolutely lovely.

I spent £300 on two beauty advent calendars this year and in hindsight it was a total waste of money. I should have just spent £300 on products I actually want.

Agree. Not doing that again.

LadyJ2023 · 13/02/2023 03:13

I dont have money to waste so zero £s lol 🤣

TheChosenTwo · 13/02/2023 13:28

@BeautifulDayintheneighbourhood they were great for me when I was just starting to look after my skin but now I know what works for me and use what I know gives results. I didn’t get a calendar this year or the one before, ended up giving away nearly
100 minis of stuff I would never use - such a waste! These days I don’t hesitate to just buy what I actually want and need and don’t get caught up in the hype about advent calendars!

lindyloo57 · 13/02/2023 17:09

I second don't bother with calenders, I didn't this year as last year brought two, one summer one, marks and spencer and one from holland and barret at Christmas, I only used half of the products, so now I just buy my favourite stuff.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 13/02/2023 17:48

Oh I have a hair dryer one too actually, bought a babyliss one that has the barrel brush built in. I wanted to see how they work so bought it second hand. It's not very good but because I bought it second hand I don't know if its bad or knackered. At least it was only a tenner.

Christmascracker0 · 13/02/2023 17:51

I missed the returns deadline on multiple orders and now am going to have to sell on eBay/Vinted 😅

JollyJolene · 14/02/2023 13:58

Oh I love Hourglass ambient light kit and their mascara.

EL double wear just doesn’t work on me. Gutted as I thought it was the answer. Looks okay in pictures but too heavy in real life.

LancashireSquirrel · 16/05/2023 18:54

Another absolute fail-

Kiehl's Creamy Avocado eye cream.

£26.50 for the worlds tiniest pot that does absolutely nothing. It's my fault for not checking the size of the minuscule pot but jeez- anyone thinking about it, don't bother!!

Also gives me sore flaky skin under my eyes, defeating the point of it

Freya Brazilian knickers. Straight to the bin. At least I didn’t pay full price, but wish spent more and got the shorts
