What have you wasted money on recently?

I had my very pale eyebrows shaped and dyed but it wore off after a few days and the wax caused ingrown hairs. I'll stick to dying and shaping them myself.

I also had my eyelashes dyed and permed (up, not curled over iyswim) I liked the dye and will have that done again but the perm was just completely pointless. 🤣

What have you splashed out on recently and afterwards wondered why?

Good idea! I'm happy to sell/swap the magnetic lashes!

plumduck · 31/01/2023 12:59

The wrong shade of foundation because I'm usually neutral but this brand leans too warm

oceanbleu · 31/01/2023 13:08

IT cc cream. I hate it, it's very orange (maybe I chose the wrong shade) and feels cakey like a foundation. It broke me out after I used it a few times. On the other hand I love Erborian cc cream!

I use marine collagen sachets and I have to say they are worth every penny. It has to be marine collagen. I always get complimented on how I don't look anywhere near my age.

@newlove22 , would you mind sharing which ones you use?

waste report pending……

I have just spent £40 on collagen supplements at sale price. I’m going to see if 4 months supply helps improve my nails (not holding out any hopes for wrinkles 😁)

Oooh Thigh watching with interest as I'm very close to looking some up to order. Can I ask what brand you have gone for?

Wow. Can lash serums really change some eye colours? That's incredible Shock

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 31/01/2023 16:02

Also thick question regarding lash serum ... I've been using Nk1 for almost 2 years and now have lashes that are almost too long (more so on one eye bizarrely).

Around a year ago I started having on/off problems with swelling and flaky skin around my eyes and have now found out I've the joys of blephatitis.

Could my lash serum have irritated it, does anyone know? It's the skin on my lash line that is irritated 😣

MsFannySqueers · 31/01/2023 16:07

Thanks@Youpillock will have a look on eBay.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 31/01/2023 16:08

Thighdentitycrisis · 31/01/2023 15:14

Thanks. They aren't too badly priced either especially BOGOF

Am I right it's 3 tablets per dose so 180 tub lasts 3 months?

Sorry for the inquisition Grin

Thighdentitycrisis · 31/01/2023 16:14

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz

each pot has 180/3 =60 days (2 months)
two of those, 4 months, for £41.00 odd.

I thought 4 months would be enough time to see if it makes any difference. The ones I got are not in the website but your might find them in store.

IlMakiage foundation- although I think I can return it!!

Ah yes! Great if you want to look like a Simpsons character. Also: very drying.

BlackSwan · 31/01/2023 16:45

Hourglass Caution mascara.

Gunky & clumpy.

I guess they warned me.

This thread (and my genius microblading expert who has transformed my face) has inspired me to try revitalash

Mmm quite a few things.

I got sucked into the joules welly sale and am now the proud owner of a pair of black and yellow short wellibobs with butterflies on them Confused

The Roka sample bag sale.

Am the proud owner of a plum small bag that I will probably never even use.

I spent £40 on an all singing all dancing mascara to try and make mine look less sparse as well as a Charlotte til hey dup foundation. Both are absolute shite and as I've opened them both I can't send them back ffs

I'm a sucker for lounge wear. I bough yet another set last week and then found the exact same set in my wardrobe never worn. Blush

Oh out of three pairs of hood winter boots I only wear one pair as the others feel too tight on my calf's

You can send back the CT if it isn't too bad. I got a bronzer which was awful. Tried it once and returned explaining it was shite. Got a full refund

Peckhaminn · 31/01/2023 17:20

I spent £15 in Neptune on a really gorgeous green decorative bowl. It turned up and was 10cm long and 10cm wide. The website didn't have measurements so risked it (my fault) but in the photo it looks like a huge bowl! Now using it as a guest ash tray lol

TheChosenTwo · 31/01/2023 17:29

@IWouldBeSuperb I didn’t know we could send back unwanted but used makeup! Where is that, direct from CT?
I think I vaguely remember that during Covid times Boots would send you a foundation with a small sample along with the full sized bottle so you could try it out before committing when you had no idea if it would be right for you which I thought was a brilliant idea, don’t know if it still happens (or if I dreamt the whole thing!) but I wish every company did it.

lindyloo57 · 30/01/2023 13:03

The paradise tan drops, turn me orange, I must of tried every brand, they all turn me orange.

@lindyloo57 the Hawaiian tropic mousse use green toned and gives me a much more natural tan than Isle of Paradise/Skinny Tan etc. They all makes me look orange, there Hawaiian tropic does not

Seems it can indeed be linked @tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz due to the prostaglandins in the serum. I got my order today, super fast and am having to return it. I have thyroid eye disease and suffer from dry eyes, can't risk it. www.eyedolatryblog.com/2017/04/is-your-lash-growth-serum-causing.html

I see that UKLash does contain synthetic prostaglandins that can cause eye colour change, irritation, dry eyes and worst of all loss of orbital fat which can make your eyes sunken.
I was about to try it, I assume it really works as the prostaglandins are proven to increase lash length, but I don’t think it is worth risking all the possible side effects.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 31/01/2023 20:15

Hey spuddel
Thanks for that link, really interesting and at the same time depressing reading. Like you I have a thyroid condition too and I swear my skin in general has become more sensitive since being on thyroxine.

I may need to consider ditching the serum which is a shame as it definitely works. I've got an unopened tube in waiting too, £35 down the loo Confused

But thanks again for posting x

Christophe Robin cleansing volumising paste. Not volumising and smells awful.
