What have you wasted money on recently?

I had my very pale eyebrows shaped and dyed but it wore off after a few days and the wax caused ingrown hairs. I'll stick to dying and shaping them myself.

I also had my eyelashes dyed and permed (up, not curled over iyswim) I liked the dye and will have that done again but the perm was just completely pointless. 🤣

What have you splashed out on recently and afterwards wondered why?

waste report pending……

I have just spent £40 on collagen supplements at sale price. I’m going to see if 4 months supply helps improve my nails (not holding out any hopes for wrinkles 😁)

I use marine collagen sachets and I have to say they are worth every penny. It has to be marine collagen. I always get complimented on how I don't look anywhere near my age.

Whatwhatwhatnow · 30/01/2023 13:57

A dress from Vinted. It's nice but doesn't fit me and I'm struggling to resell it. Not a bargain after all.

AmIreallyBeverly · 30/01/2023 14:03

You can't tell on the photo but I have pale blue/grey eyes with Hazel in the middle and the UKLash hasn't changed them. Just double checked! 🤣

U have yet another waste of money but I haven't figured out which one it is. I bought the Clarins double Serum and La Roche Possay suncream and one is giving me horrendous spots on nose/between my eyebrows. I've stopped using the Clarins and will see how my skin is after a few weeks but I've a feeling it's the sun cream.

I'd recommend UKLash for growth. Honestly, it's fab. It was on QVC so you could send it back

It took maybe 2 months of daily use before it showed but that was the reason for the perm and dye in the first place. My lashes got so long that mascara just made my lashes look like spider legs!

Oh I'm glad to read a real review because I've been looking at that.

Strangely though because I love lash lift and tint and have made that regular. I wanted to achieve a bit more length so I could look at ditching the mascara.

AmIreallyBeverly · 30/01/2023 14:06

AND (I'm on a roll) a load of nail dipping powders. I got a bit carried away! They have absolutely wrecked my nails but I can't get anyone to buy them despite most of them being unused.

If you're into your nail dips, I have £250 worth of them for £50 plus postage? Please buy them! 🤣

Non-returnable maternity jeans that don't fit.

Also a general grumble that maternity clothes seem to come in two sizes - too big and too small.

OldTinHat · 30/01/2023 14:10

A pleather jacket from Vinted that smells so awful (think 1990 nightclub ashtray) that I've put it outside in the shed.

IheardYouButDontWantToAnswer · 30/01/2023 14:12

ALL THIS MORNING -
Nude nail varnish - I hate it, I'll stick to red.
Box dye (dark blonde) - hate it, I need to change it again now.
Blouse from Yours - hate it. Perhaps because the model on the website is about size 12 and I'm not Grin

TokyoSushi · 30/01/2023 14:14

Oh not too bad here then, just a £40 rucksack for our skiing trip that now it has arrived looks like it's made for Borrowers! Fortunately, they have a good returns policy, so the hunt begins, again!

Charity shop cashmere jerseys that all melted into holes in the wash. Moth. Aargh.

twilightcafe · 30/01/2023 14:17

You need to give lash serums three months. I went through this last year. Spent £35 on uklash serum. Would have stopped using as I saw no difference after a month. Stuck with it and ended up with monster lashes after three months.

AmIreallyBeverly · 30/01/2023 14:21

With (badly applied) mascara to show the full spider leg glory. I wear glasses so it's extra magnified. This is with Benefit Bad Girl which is the better of the ones I've tried.

Oh heck, I just spent £60 on this stuff after seeing AmIreallyBeverly's amazing results. Reviews looked great so hoping not. Quite attached to my blue peepers.

Blue eyes can’t change colour so you will be fine. Green, hazel or multi coloured eyes can change to brown though. I have green/blue eyes and don’t want them to go brown.

Aworldofmyown · 30/01/2023 14:26

IlMakiage foundation- although I think I can return it!!

Rebel2023 · 30/01/2023 14:38

@SirVixofVixHall if it helps I've used rapidlash for years, it works on me and I have green eyes. No colour change

Catspyjamas17 · 30/01/2023 14:59

Gas. Left the heating on for about four days- controlled by thermostat, but still, a lot more usage than we have usually had recently 🙈Still, it was nice and warm, so not completely wasted I guess. I put it on continuous when it was particularly cold one day and then forgot and thought it had gone a bit milder...

Allezallezallez2023 · 30/01/2023 15:37

Cashmere joggers that now are full of holes (moths???)

Agree with previous poster that Stripe & Stare knickers are very flimsy and not at all supportive, wouldn’t have paid so much for them if I had known.

I bought some magnetic lashes. Biggest waste of £35. I don't know what I was thinking!

I love magnetic lashes! They’re the only ones that work for me!

MistyRock · 30/01/2023 16:27

Tights. I bought the ones that were supposed to fit me according to the size guide. Nope. Looked like they were made for someone 5ft and a size 8, the gusset was half way down my thighs. I'm a 14 to 16 and 5ft 10in! I couldn't return them. The next pair I bought from the same brand I went for the size up. According to the size guide they are for a size 20! I must admit I do hate super tight tights. It's annoying as they were £10 a pair.

Defiantlynot41 · 30/01/2023 16:45

@mtld go to a store, ideally with lots of brands eg a John Lewis. Ask at the counter for advice on foundation shade and (crucially important) ask for a tester sample to take away. Repeat with various brands.

Alternatively, if you have at least one foundation which IS the right shade, try Findation findation.com/which makes suggestions based on your existing buys

MsFannySqueers · 30/01/2023 13:18

@Youpillock I have thought about trying those eyelid things. Which ones do you use?

I've had upper eyelid surgery, so I don't use them any more but I just used to use literally the cheapest from eBay.

Ineedwinenow · 30/01/2023 17:05

Levi rib jeans! I’m short so look like a toddler or an umpa lumpa! I tried them on in the store and wasn’t 100% but everyone kept saying how they suit me Etc.. so fell for it , bought them, took the tags off and now I want to cry every-time I see them in my laughing at me in my wardrobe! My husband keeps asking when I’m going to wear them 🫣

No7 4D Lift and Curl
Mascara. Looked like a panda by 11am.

This thread is very useful, taking notes.
Had a couple of dud purchases from Vinted, managed to resell most of them.
Rare beauty mascara/eyeliner combo (sold as set) - not very good. Eyeliner is way too thick, mascara clumpy.
Hourglass hit and miss altough I rate their blushes (marbly ones).
