How sad. Mafalda's husband's brother was married to the DoE's sister, which again shows how closely connected the various royal families are.

The photo of Charles & Camilla wearing blue was taken at Buckingham Palace as they lit candles to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. I'm pleased to see them being involved in this day of international mourning and remembrance.

Found this thread on an Italian princess who ended up in a concentration camp. I never knew this.

Sainte Devote in Monaco today. There's some about these children that tugs at me

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 27/01/2023 23:51

That's so sad about Malfada.
Before I knew the story of her brother in law Prince Christoph of Hesse & her sister in law Princess Sophie (DoE's sister) I thought it was disgusting that they didn't help but then I found out that Christoph died in mysterious circumstances & Sophie feared for her & her children's lives after realising that she'd been charmed & fooled by Hitler.

My late Austrian friend was a young boy/teenager when Hitler was rising through the ranks & told me that everyone was impressed with him to start with as Austria & Germany were in by a terrible state & he got the economy going, jobs became plentiful & people were not struggling or starving anymore. As the less pleasant, well the awful, terrible, atrocious sociopath side of Hitler & the psychopaths in the Nazi party activities were not as 'developed or frequent' & weren't common knowledge, well millions of people were stupidly taken in.

Thought this group would like this photo of a young queen. My grandfather is in the judge's wig. I love the black details on her sleeves and pockets.

LadyEloise1 · 28/01/2023 08:34

Queen Elizabeth 2 looks beautiful there @StartupRepair

What's the phrase about evil and good people doing nothing?
At Holocaust memorial time, I sometimes think of how Princess Alice, Prince Philip's mother, sheltered Jews at tremendous risk to herself. Neither she, nor Philip, trumpeted this.

Charlene's wave tiara was commissioned by Albert as a special gift, noting both her swimming past and the Mediterranean where they live. Lovely pictures and I'm glad she's looking well.
Those twins are so sweet!

That's a super bit of family history @StartupRepair do you know what the occasion/event was? I love her hat!

That is a lovely sentiment behind her tiara. Just noticed the resemblance between Charlene and her daughter in the tiara photograph.

I see that Wax, Max and Amalia are in the Caribbean Netherlands so hopefully we'll get some colourful ensembles!

Maireas · 28/01/2023 12:00

That's the wave tiara on Chaz. I've never really liked it. I think i prefer it in its necklace format.

ChicoryDip · 28/01/2023 18:37

Love that dress on Max although I'm less keen on the headband.

In that picture Wax looks as if he's been driving the bus. Given his piloting skills maybe he has?!

That is a beautiful tiara 😍 if it's not taken, could I please have it?

(Can honour it properly by wearing it to the local pool 😆)

I like this tiara although it could do with a large sapphire or a diamond instead of the blue jasper medallion in the middle.

Eaumyword · 29/01/2023 11:22

That is pretty, I love the pearls. Agree it needs a big diamond or something pretty like a citrine or amethyst.

Maireas · 29/01/2023 11:45

@locketrocket - Princess Charlene's Wave tiara ✔️

I like it with the Wedgewood. It makes it more wearable on the school run.

@gluenotsoup nah, if you're wearing a tiara you want everybody to know that you're wearing one! So it needs a big sapphire or diamond even an emerald will do.
