De-lurking to say I have the actual book Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady and didn't know it had also been a stationery range!

Leti's look is right up my street. I'd wear it all the time if I didn't have babies and dogs getting bodily fluids all over me.

MotherofPearl · 25/01/2023 19:09

The Lux RF have hosted a NY reception. Rubbish photo I'm afraid, but nice to see tiara-wearing happening.

The PoW has hosted a meeting in her trusty Alexander McQueen suit. She looks great, and I'm relieved to see no cream ribbed poloneck action.

I really like maxi skirts, too. In fact, I'm wearing one tonight for the Burns Night Dinner hosted by some friends in our local Scottish-American society. In honor of these threads, I'm aiming for "county Scottish." The skirt is black wool, straight rather than full, and I'm wearing with it my Black Watch tartan jacket with velvet lapels.

Marie-Therese looks fantastic!

Kate looks smart enough but also a bit like she's serving the drinks.

Catherine has interesting shoulder pads in the jacket. I used to have loose pads you could velcro into jackets, jumpers. Those were the Dynasty days

AdaColeman · 25/01/2023 19:55

I like that look for Leti, depending on the occasion. The skirt is beautifully made, with a lovely flowing shape.

@SenecaFallsRedux That sounds like a fab Burns Night outfit, velvet lapels are definitely county! Have you got a nice brooch too? Have a great night!

That sounds like a great look. The velvet lapels especially (I'm mad about velvet).

For me the top half of my body is, imo, much nicer than my lower half, so maxi skirts suit me. They hide my legs and allow me to focus on my arms and torso instead.

Are maxi skirts back in fashion?

Not sure about the whole look.

It would have been much better with a simple shirt, Carolina Herera style, not the blousy pussy bow.

And it would have been the perfect occasion for a necklace.

CliffsofMohair · 25/01/2023 20:17

very Edwardian schoolmarm

Gooseysgirl · 25/01/2023 20:29

I think KM looked good today in her round table meeting attire! Fabulous hair as always 😊

I do some work in early years education and I can say that probably the single biggest challenge facing this age group at the moment is the fallout on language and social skills development since covid. Major investment and support is needed for nursery settings and parents/carers to help combat the effects of this. Anything KM and her 'experts' can do to keep this topic in the public domain gets a big thumbs up from me!

Eaumyword · 25/01/2023 22:16

Love POW's sharp suit with blouse.
@SenecaFallsRedux outfit sounds great and very county👍

LadyEloise1 · 25/01/2023 23:20

I love Kate's asymmetrical blouse. She looks great.

I loved that book!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 25/01/2023 23:52

The thing about the POWs clothes is that they are so beautifully tailored and always an immaculate fit. I’d love to have a poke through her vast wardrobe.

AdaColeman · 26/01/2023 01:49

Those of us unsure about Leti's pink skirt, and thinking it was perhaps a little too Edwardian governess...
Maybe Leti would be better wearing a creation by Dutch duo Viktor and Rolf as revealed in their Paris show this week. Leti would certainly have the legs for it!

Maireas · 26/01/2023 07:29

Good points, @Gooseysgirl
I hope you had a great time, @SenecaFallsRedux - sounds like a good outfit. Any jewellery?

Leti's outfit gives me Little house on the Prairie flashbacks!

Love Leti’s skirt! But for me the blouse is all wrong - the fussy detail detracts from the main point! Would have looked much better with a simpler blouse.

Oh I have that coat in green.

MotherofPearl · 26/01/2023 12:13

I agree that colour is beautiful on the PoW, but I'm deducting points for that poloneck. Thankfully it's not cream, but that tight, high poloneck style is awful imo.

TangledWebOfDeception · 26/01/2023 12:17

Ah no I like a polo neck! No points deducted from me.

Kate, if you’re reading, you would have got a million points had you worn chunky brogues (high heeled would be fine).

crosspusscrossstitcher · 26/01/2023 13:39

I don't mind the polo neck, but it needs something to "lift" it, like a bit of sparkle, maybe? Or even a tiny brooch on her lapel?
The colour looks fab on her.

Spudlet · 26/01/2023 15:08

Meanwhile, William’s been digging through the laundry basket for his least faded and wrinkled outfit again 🤨

SenecaFallsRedux · 26/01/2023 15:32

@Maireas I wore a small silver brooch that belonged to my grandmother. I think that added another "county" touch. Smile

I don't mind the turtle neck on Kate, and I really like the color and the coat.
