That ruby tiara looks like a tray of jam tarts!

TangledWebOfDeception · 21/01/2023 22:35

<whispers to @AdaColeman > I’m contemplating doing a Queen Mary and making something entirely new using the gems!

AdaColeman · 21/01/2023 22:42

Grin Grin They will still look like jam tarts, whatever you do with them Tangled!

TangledWebOfDeception · 21/01/2023 22:46

Grin Grin I think I could deal with a jam tart necklace! I’ll channel Max and make it work.

(Now I want jam tarts)

Ahem.
I think the cut steel is in my meagre collection actually…. But you may borrow it as long as it’s polished afterwards 🙂

AdaColeman · 22/01/2023 00:40

Apparently, Charles won't be wearing silk stockings and breeches for his Coronation outfit, as worn by his grandfather George VI, the last time a King was crowned.
Instead, he will wear a military uniform, following the example of his father who wore his Admiral's uniform at the 1953 Coronation.

TangledWebOfDeception · 22/01/2023 04:55

@gluenotsoup ah never mind - I’m clearly getting mixed up and starting to think of tiaras I’ve simply admired along the way (of which there are many!). I’ve no wish to grab tiaras that belong to others!!

@justasking111 I’m a bit of a magpie IRL too; DH is constantly exasperated with me. However I reckon as long as the house is tidy, and there’s a place ifor everything, it’s ok! Don’t like clutter so I’ve a natural stop point which keeps me in check.

TangledWebOfDeception · 22/01/2023 04:57

Thinking about it I’m fairly sure Max’s tiara above is spoken for too - I vaguely remember someone saying they’d like it even if it does look like a suspension bridge...

KillingMeDeftly · 22/01/2023 09:45

Lovely 19th birthday photo of Ingrid of Norway aka the most junior member of the Brunette Lookalike Princesses Club. She'd fit right in with Kate, Mary and Marie!

LadyEloise1 · 22/01/2023 10:07

@MotherofPearl I am shocked !
Shocked I tell you, at your greed.
WTA.........

@Maireas we appear to have a Queen Mary type in our midst. You will have to keep a sharp eye on MOP.
I'm sorry to say you have failed in your duty to the rest of us, after all you are the Keeper of the Spreadsheet of Splendour.

Maireas · 22/01/2023 10:16

Mea culpa! 😂😂
Ah, yes @KillingMeDeftly - there's definitely a European Princess mould.....

I know it's not fashion (or tiaras) but just saw this on Twitter and thought it was very sweet.

I do have a picture in my head of members of this group rocking up to their local Coronation street party pulling a trolley of jewels behind them. 😊

That's so cute!

Thought for a moment that said by 4yo Prince Charles!

MotherofPearl · 22/01/2023 10:35

Lovely photo of Princess Ingrid.

I'm sorry @LadyEloise1 I did get carried away! Blush

LadyEloise1 · 22/01/2023 10:42

"Carried away !"
Rather an understatement don't you think @MotherofPearl ?

😀

gluenotsoup · 22/01/2023 11:42

I’m in good company, fellow magpies😂

locketrocket · 22/01/2023 16:25

justasking111 · 21/01/2023 22:01

Jakers you are a conventicle of magpies. I think I have one tiara. 😃

Lol, I don't even have one tiara.. just a very nice brooch 🤣

I read this as well. Evidently, some of his advisors think the traditional dress is "a bit dated." That strikes me as an amusing concept for a thousand-plus year old ceremony.

Some might say that the whole notion of a coronation is "a bit dated" especially since the UK is the only European monarchy to still hold one. Not me, though. The more dated the better as far as I'm concerned.

TangledWebOfDeception · 22/01/2023 16:53

@SenecaFallsRedux I agree. Stop messing with it FGS, it’s meant to be ‘dated’!

I don’t mind it being 90 minutes. Fair enough. I don’t mind it being scaled down on numbers. Fair enough. I don’t mind it being reined in somewhat in terms of cost. Fair enough (And actually quite welcome). But don’t turn it into some stupid, not-quite-a-coronation ‘event’.

And there BETTER be at least one gorgeous ‘new to me’ tiara being worn!!

Maireas · 22/01/2023 17:13

If you're reading this, Kingy, listen up:
We want bling, music, colour, mystical chanting, tiaras, more music, carriages and more bling.
Thank. You.

So none of the other European monarchies have coronations? I thought i saw footage of Max and Wax being crowned, though maybe that was an investiture instead.

I can see where Charles is coming from - the world is a very different place now compared to 1952. I also feel like we are much less likely to see tiara and gown events from now. Looking back at photos of the late queen it seems like she donned a different tiara each week but alas that's no longer the something.

KillingMeDeftly · 22/01/2023 18:22

*done thing

According to some on this thread it appears that if it’s not called a coronation then it doesn’t count…

That enthronements and inaugurations often are large scale events incredibly similar to coronation celebrations apparently doesn’t count.

Maireas · 22/01/2023 18:54

Unlike Queen Mary who wore a tiara to dinner every evening. That's the kind of approach I admire.
