Help me find something nice please

Going out to a 'very nice' restaurant in a few weeks. People will be dressed up, I think. Not London.

So - I'm looking possibly for one of the following:

• a dress / short but not clingy / must have sleeves

• or - I've got a black satin midi skirt that I love but haven't really got a top to go with it / would need sleeves, lowish neck or possibly a wrap, relatively fitted, not very long in length and not needing to be tucked in, maybe a bit of ruching or something

or - a brilliant pair of flattering 'going out' jeans (I have no smart jeans) and a top to go with them

I suit black or dark colours like deep red or dark green / not averse to a bit of animal print or a subtle pattern.

I don't 'do' scratchy polyester. I'm short and a curvy 14.

Any ideas, please?

I wear a soft polo neck jumper with my satin skirt and boots .. would that work?

That's what I usually wear with mine, but I think it will be too warm.

Being practical, will you get more wear out of the jeans rather than a ' going out' dress?

WC one is too long and I won't buy from them because they fund the Tory party. so even if it was perfect I couldn't have it!

The Jigsaw plum one is beautiful but too high necked/fitted for what I fancy.

I don't like the shoulder ruffles on the Whistles one.

Reiss one is too long.

Yes - probably! And out of a nice top to wear with my skirt too.

Have you looked at Nancy Mac? They have a dress version of their jumpsuit which looks great.

There’s also some very nice tops from Vince on Brand Alley. Excellent quality, cheaper than Net a Porter

I tried this on to go with a midi pencil skirt and it was much more flattering than it looks on the picture

Levi's 311 are good for short people ( ask me how I know ) if you want a skinny silhouette.

The Nancy Macs are beautiful, but not what I'm after. I want short if a dress. Would be gorgeous for a winter wedding.

The TB one is a nice shape but ~I think the shoulders might be a bit too puffy.

I don't like the royal blue one. Velvet one is too high necked.

I wondered about a Whistles sparkle jumper because they're really thin, but maybe a bit too ~New Years Eve-ish?
