Help me find something nice please

Going out to a 'very nice' restaurant in a few weeks. People will be dressed up, I think. Not London.

So - I'm looking possibly for one of the following:

• a dress / short but not clingy / must have sleeves

• or - I've got a black satin midi skirt that I love but haven't really got a top to go with it / would need sleeves, lowish neck or possibly a wrap, relatively fitted, not very long in length and not needing to be tucked in, maybe a bit of ruching or something

or - a brilliant pair of flattering 'going out' jeans (I have no smart jeans) and a top to go with them

I suit black or dark colours like deep red or dark green / not averse to a bit of animal print or a subtle pattern.

I don't 'do' scratchy polyester. I'm short and a curvy 14.

Any ideas, please?

Good for you and we'll done for sticking to your principles. I didn't know about Boden and recently bought a few things in the sale, will now avoid them in future.

I've only just caught up with this thread, I adore that FatFace feather dress. Is it true to size? I'm so tempted by it.

@BusterGonad I think it runs a bit big. I’m often a 14 now, but needed a 12.

I’ve got a Whistles sparkle jumper and I personally think beyond February they do look a bit Christmassy!

I checked on a couple of other TB tops and there are some seriously nice ones there, a floral one (light pink) so I’d have a look there.

I’m a similar bust size to you and the Wolf and Badger ones I wouldn’t wear.

I do wear a Saint and Sofia slit neck top/knitted top in black on evenings out.

@Montague22 if you're a size '11' I would try the 10 in that black ME+EM dress. I am currently on the heftier side of a 12 and took the chance on the 12 and it is absolutely perfect and will be as I continue to lose weight.

@Elevenutionary I have the same problem...a full basket and the tiny issue of cost! If I was rich I'd buy all my clothes from there I think!

@GonnaGetGoingReturns Yes, I think you're right about the Whistles jumpers - something thin like that in deep jewel colours but no sparkle could be very useful.

Just thought I'd update the second dress - link in last post - arrived & it is really beautiful on. It's super flattering on & very easy to wear. I ordered a size 12 & it's perfect. The material of the body of the dress is v thick Jersey so has a good stretch & the ruching / gathers front & back are excellent. It hangs beautifully.

It's hard to say whether I prefer the short one from up the thread or this one, they're both beautifully made dresses that I'll get lots of wear our of. 2 good investments!
