Help me find something nice please

Going out to a 'very nice' restaurant in a few weeks. People will be dressed up, I think. Not London.

So - I'm looking possibly for one of the following:

• a dress / short but not clingy / must have sleeves

• or - I've got a black satin midi skirt that I love but haven't really got a top to go with it / would need sleeves, lowish neck or possibly a wrap, relatively fitted, not very long in length and not needing to be tucked in, maybe a bit of ruching or something

or - a brilliant pair of flattering 'going out' jeans (I have no smart jeans) and a top to go with them

I suit black or dark colours like deep red or dark green / not averse to a bit of animal print or a subtle pattern.

I don't 'do' scratchy polyester. I'm short and a curvy 14.

Any ideas, please?

At risk of upsetting Esmerelda again (or is it Rishi?), I don't buy from Boden because they also fund the Tories.

@Rina66 That's a good sort of shape for me, I think. Not loving the frill at the bottom though.

@Rina66 You've also reminded me that I've got a black Hush shirt dress in a similar loose mini shape that might be worth a try on! I haven't worn it since before lockdown!

Love that @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie, I also like it in the orange and the green - I've bought quite a few Whistles dresses over the years, they're so classic and they always work.

I have tried this on and it’s extremely flattering! Think it fits the bill for wrap, sleeves, not too long. Lovely fabric too, quite well structured but not scratchy.

Should add, it’s definitely a top/blouse, must have a matching skirt too! Not normally a phase eight fan at all but this was very nice.

The blazer dress would be a disaster on me, though I love that look on others.

I like the River Island one but worry about feel/quality.

The Phase 8 top looks perhaps worth a try. I’ll have to go and have a trying on session in both Phase 8 and Ted Baker. Neither are places I ever look in.

How about this emerald satin top to go with the skirt? I have coveted this for ages and it's now in the sale...

I like that, @WinterFoxes Are you going to buy it? I think it would be too long for my skirt, but would be nice with jeans.
