What ‘rules’ do you stick to and which ones do you ignore?

As a petite I stick to loose/ fitted and vice Versa to balance out my figure.

There are no rules.

You fools.

I hate the word 'Flattering'

I prefer to look interesting.

If someone wants to wear bracelet sleeves that's ok.

I agree 👏👏👏 my personal ‘rules’ are really about what I’ll consider buying, to avoid stuff I hate e.g. yolks on blouses and dresses and high heels. I’m sure I wear stuff that would be considered unflattering e.g. oversized dresses and coats, but they are interesting and I feel like myself when I wear something interesting.

Don’t we all, love. So unsightly and a bugger to remove even with stain devils!

And they are very flattering they highlight your waist amd make you look in proportion.

No, three quarter length sleeves just make my long arms look even longer. And my wrists don't need highlighting. I just want to be warm.

Waist.. They highlight your waist as when you are standing the sleeves finish where your waist is, therefore highlighting it and drawing attention to your shape.

CMOTDibbler · 09/01/2023 19:18

@MistyRock when I'm standing, my elbows are in my waist not my forearm, so maybe thats why I don't like 3/4 sleeves

RampantIvy · 09/01/2023 20:34

Sorry @MistyRock I rhought it was a typo or autocorrect. Like @CMOTDibbler my elbows are in my waist as well. I said I had long arms Grin

SenecaFallsRedux · 09/01/2023 23:03

I really like 3/4 or bracelet length sleeves, but I am a woman of a certain age (no upper arms on display, please), and I have a short waist and long arms. For me, 3/4 sleeves elongate my waist and also have a slimming effect.

MistyRock · 10/01/2023 04:47

@CMOTDibbler @RampantIvy my 3/4 sleeves finish just below my waist but I do think they are flattering. Normal tshirts make me look very square as I'm tall with big boobs, 3/4 make me look more elegant and in proportion. My favourite look is a mini dress with long sleeves. I think, on me, they look really nice. But at the end of the day we should all wear what makes us happy. I'm on the look out for a jumper dress with a roll neck. Apparently roll necks and big boobs don't go but I don't care. It will make me happy. Keep me warm and I think look great. I've got to age where I'm much happier to wear what I like, rather than sticking to 'rules'. Same with make up. If it brings a, smile to my face I'll wear it.

I agree. They make me look slimmer too, more slender and elegant.

Get a grip.

This is about "Rules" as commonly put about in SM. It doesn't mean they are correct/posters accept them, indeed many challenge/refuse them and have their own.

Is it red and green should never be seen?

I always thought it was red and pink?

Spent my entire life avoiding red and pink together until last year when I bought a gorgeous red and pink skirt and I love it!!

I also wore a pink dress ( not just one block colour but mainly pink) with red shoes and a red clutch and I felt great.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/01/2023 20:25

I thought it was pink and green. Red and green is Christmassy.

dinmin · 10/01/2023 21:41

Absolutely can’t do navy and black together - makes me feel ill! That includes most blue denim unless maybe it’s really light.
Same with gold and silver.
Leggings are not trousers.
Hate polyester.
Also can’t cope with the feel of sleeves unless they’re baggy - jumpers generally ok, but a bottom layer like a long-sleeved tee, nope.
