I'm hoping others will join me to discuss liberty advent calendar. In line with other threads 0700 earliest for the days contents?

My number 22 drawer was slightly open when unboxed and when I spotted the orange I assumed it was a full size REN AHA tonic and was pretty pleased as needed more of that.
And so to open this morning’s drawer properly and see it wasn’t a £20 toner was a great surprise.

To those of you waiting until winter is over to try the products, won’t sensitive skin suffer more when exposed to the brighter sunlight in spring? Does our skin lose sensitivity to these products over time?
I have dry skin that can take layers and layers of oils and serums. I coped okay with the Votary Apple Toner from the last Beauty Drop. Will it be much harsher than that?

countdowntonap · 22/12/2022 09:30

^Those are genuine questions above and not meant to sound provocative. Hard to get the tone across on Mumsnet sometimes Blush

Blossomtoes · 22/12/2022 09:47

Nice one, Liberty, you’ve done us proud today. I like a drawer so full I struggle to open it

I can't sleep, so I've opened today's calendar. I don't want to spoil anything - but what a lovely treat!

Ha! I had a really shit day yesterday so actually opened today's drawer at 11.30pm last night to cheer myself up. And was so pleased! But then knew I had to wait hours before I could see what everyone else on here thinks (my own fault for cheating!).

I've been using the ExfoliKate for a few years so today reminded me partly why I bought the calendar as I knew it would semi-pay for itself with a full size ExfoliKate included. But actually I have been loving the entire calendar so much that I'd forgotten about it until now.

Also very relieved that it wasn't a bloody REN AHA Tonic peaking out of today's drawer. For a brief moment I was a bit argh...

notanicepersonapparently · 22/12/2022 11:35

@countdowntonap I’m not sure why but my skin just feels a bit thin and papery due to the cold weather and central heating. I don’t know if the skins turnover of cells slows down or whether it just feels like that to me.

I do find that after months of being covered up in jeans and jumpers though that bits of me do benefit from a good exfoliation though so these will get used up on one bit of me or another.

Wonderful customer service from Liberty re a grubby Malin and Goetz serum. It’s so rare to get good customer service that I felt inclined to share!

JemimaPyjamas · 22/12/2022 20:45

They sent a box of goodies by way of apology and to ‘share the Liberty Christmas magic.’

EasterIssland · 22/12/2022 21:19

I just opened 24 and 25 as I’m away so thought I’d open them instead of carry with me the boxes. Really pleased with them. Tomorrow my last day so hopefully it’s a good one as well :)

merry Christmas everyone!

Ha me too! I'm going away early tomorrow morning and won't be back for until New Year so decided to open 23, 24 and 25 earlier today. And also because I have no self-discipline. 😂And I knew I'd find out on MN what was in the remaining drawers before I got home to open them. I'm pleased. This has been a great calendar. I skipped last year's but I'm definitely back in the Liberty calendar loving fold now.

WorryMcGee · 23/12/2022 01:10

Yaaay ExfoliKate 😍 and a lovely looking mascara. It’s a couple of days after my third chemo and I still have my eyebrows and eyelashes so I’m looking forward to trying that and the brow stuff on Christmas Day 😃

LesLavandes · 23/12/2022 07:22

What colour is yesterday's mascara?

EasterIssland · 23/12/2022 07:37

Not a bad last drawer for me

Talisin · 23/12/2022 07:43

@LesLavandes Mine’s black.

I had todays drawer in another calendar a few days ago😄 Not going to need to buy any face masks in the next year, that’s for sure! This years theme definitely seems to be exfoliation, exfoliation and more exfoliation.

Cinnamonandcoal · 23/12/2022 07:51

I am confused. Was there supposed to be a mascara yesterday?

Yesterday I got ExfoliKate and a Ren glycol acid mask. Both exfoliating things. Today yet another exfoliating thing. Three in a row?!

I personally don't use exfoliating stuff much so this is rubbish for me, on top of the brow cream which will do nothing at all.

I appreciate people like different stuff but there's been SO much skincare. How many things can one person put on their face, even over a year?

It just feels like quite boring products recently to solve problems rather than things that are fun. I would have much preferred some skincare but also some nice makeup, maybe some blusher, highlighter, nail varnish, eyeliner?

There has been some good stuff but overall I'm pretty disappointed given the price. It was a gift so I didn't review in advance but if I had then I wouldn't have got this one.

Anyway if there's someone out there that loves exfoliating and wants to swap stuff lemme know!

laclochette · 23/12/2022 08:18

I agree that this deffo feels like a calendar compiled by skincare nerds for skincare nerds. I happen to be one of those, so I love it, but it's a quite narrow definition of "beauty". In their defence, makeup is very hard to include, because so few shades will suit everyone. That said, I would have loved some more universal products like brown / black liquid or crayon eyeliner, maybe a primer, and why TWO mascaras??

They also could improve the experience simply by spacing the existing products out differently. I have skin that needs a lot of acid and exfoliation, but 3 acid exfoliators in 3 days seems just mad - why not space them out more? Same with "haircare week"...

I am enjoying the calendar lots and will deffo buy again, but it irritates me that there are such simple tweaks that could make it a better luxury experience.

laclochette · 23/12/2022 08:19

3 in 2 days rather!

purplelicious · 23/12/2022 08:28

I totally agree about the way it's been spaced out and the amount of the same products over few days. It doesn't look like a lot of thought went into that. I'm intending to use my products throughout the year and knew there was a lot of skincare but it still grates a bit, how they've presented this. I also think they could have thought about the sizes of the boxes more...very few have been filled and fit nicely, some are half empty and some have been really squashed into a drawer that barely fits - one drawer I have early on was split because it didn't fit.

purplelicious · 23/12/2022 08:31

@Cinnamonandcoal - yesterday's did have three products which included a mascara, a Ren exfoliant mask and exfoliKate scrub. All items were boxed too.

purplelicious · 23/12/2022 08:49

...oh and not a lot of quality checking on the QRS code link either annoys me 😳 it wouldn't have taken much for someone to have proof read it. Some links haven't worked, some have linked to the wrong product and yesterday they titled it a 'triple beauty threat' rather than triple Beauty treat? Or can you get beauty threats?

LizardTrucks · 23/12/2022 08:56

I’d be more excited about today’s if yesterday didn’t already have 2 similar products.
Tried the ExfoliKate and it’s excellent. Feels just like professional facials.
One suggestion for liberty next year would be to space the types of products out better.

WeAreBorg · 23/12/2022 08:57

Aah yes how odd to have three niche exfoliating products in a row - I mean this one looks lovely and fancy so I’m still pleased and I love skin care potions so happy with the calendar overall.

Cant believe there’s only two more days and our calendar excitement is over for another whole year! Tempted to get a Jan one to cheer myself up…

MissDollyMix · 23/12/2022 09:23

With all these exfoliators and acids! I wish they’d put a decent SPF in too!

Cinnamonandcoal · 23/12/2022 09:29

Yeah an SPF would have been great. Universal too.

I feel they have gone for skincare because it's expensive so even little sizes add a lot to the total value when it's these brands.

I did get the mascara but fir some reason in an earlier box. I really don't like it, it clumps and smudges. The other one is much much better.

pepperaunt · 23/12/2022 09:49

Agreed! I was annoyed at the Week of Hair Care as my routine is quite simple and the vast majority weren’t right for my hair. Now we have the Exfoliation Festival , which again is useless to me as I have skin which is both sensitive/reactive and old. Not so impressed by how much I have to pass off to my DD and her friends.

Cinnamonandcoal · 23/12/2022 09:56

I kind of feel like a spoilt brat complaining, but it is so expensive and although it was a gift from my husband it still comes out of 'our' money so I'm quite focused on it being good value! Not just in terms of £ but in terms of things I'll actually use.
Currently I feel I'd have been better spending the money on buying things I want at full price.
