@justasking111 your brooch is lovely.
Leti looks fabulous there. Gorgeous dress.

I don't watch I'm a celebrity, but what a lovely picture

That's a great picture JustAsking.

Zara looks fabulous in that shorts/top combination. That's her at her casual best rather than some of the more 'trussed up' formal choices.

frugalkitty · 27/11/2022 08:31

Interesting article in the Fail today which says Charles wants Charlotte to be the Duchess of Edinburgh which is why it's not going to Edward. It would be a tribute to the Queen apparently. Personally, I think Edward should be getting it and it's naughty of Charles to not go along with the late Queen and Duke's wishes.

Also, Camilla has scrapped 'ladies in waiting' for 'Queen's Companions'

Eaumyword · 27/11/2022 08:43

We do watch IAC and thought Zara looked amazing from the back last night! That photo shows she looked equally fabulous from the front too!😂 Agree she looks so much better in casual.
Good move for Cams to have Queen's Companions, sounds a bit more modern.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/11/2022 09:43

I think Zara is wearing a playsuit rather than shorts and top but she looks great!

KillingMeDeftly · 27/11/2022 09:44

What does even a "Queen's companion" do these days? Is it more like a PA role?

AdaColeman · 27/11/2022 10:08

No, the Queen's Companions won't be doing any admin, Camilla has PAs for that, instead they will be accompanying her on official visits. It will only be an occasional role, not as time consuming as for the Ladies in Waiting.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/11/2022 10:11

An interview with Lady Glenconner in todays Observer. She seems very much the "never complain, never explain" type but she's clearly had a lot of trauma in her life with an abusive husband and losing two sons. And I think another son was severely injured in a car crash?

But what do they actually do nowadays? I know in the times of Queen Victoria they had to write letters and entertain her by making conversation or reading to her or singing/playing a musical instrument. But I don't think that's needed anymore - I imagine Camilla entertains herself by kicking off her shoes, putting her feet up and watching a good box set!

gluenotsoup · 27/11/2022 10:27

Zara looks good there, she’s got great legs! Other photos showed an off white Aspinall bag too, I lust after Aspinall bags.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 27/11/2022 10:38

Aspinal bags are absolutely beautiful. You can get amazing bargains in their sales.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 27/11/2022 10:39

Oh yes Zara’s in great shape. That’ll be the riding...

The back view of that photo showed a bit of bottom!! Shock Grin

LadyEloise1 · 27/11/2022 10:44

I too think Edward and Sophie should get the Edinburgh titles.
Charlotte is a Princess. She doesn't need another title. 🙄
Especially a very "old sounding" title - Duchess of Edinburgh, iykwim.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 27/11/2022 10:47

I dunno...I can see his reasoning on that. But I also think Edward and Sophie work very hard and do a great job.

gluenotsoup · 27/11/2022 10:49

I though Charlotte was lined up to be the Princess Royal in time?

Me too.

Though she can’t become PR until Anne dies AND her father becomes king IIRC.

So another 30 ish yrs.

Royal bottom you say?🤭😂
I can assure you my bottom never looked that pert and I rode for 40yrs! Definitely sturdy.

I'd love to have a royal companion. I'd ask for a list of activities along the lines of:

  • Afternoon tea for us all
  • Please bring me either of the Hemsworth brothers
  • Please fiddle about with my hair and give me a little shoulder massage

Loved Lady Glenconner's book (which as Lady in Waiting to Margaret, isn't that far different to my list above😂) What a rich and full, yet tragic in parts life Lady G has led.

Serenster · 27/11/2022 12:58

The Queen’s Ladies in Waiting definitely still used to write letters - answering the letter Queen got from people on her birthday, anniversaries family events, from children etc etc has always been a big part of their job. Obviously that’s a job that can easily be delegated to admin staff these days, which it seems Camilla is sensibly doing.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/11/2022 12:58

*Though she can’t become PR until Anne dies AND her father becomes king IIRC.

Even then there's no guarantee. Anne wasn't made Princess Royal until the 90s, even though her great-aunt Princess Mary died in the 60s.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/11/2022 13:02

Actually it was the late 80s. But still years after the death of Princess Mary.

eggandonion · 27/11/2022 13:16

Will she stay Princess Charlotte of Wales? When her dad becomes King? Duchess sounds a bit middle aged, Duke is more dashing.

SenecaFallsRedux · 27/11/2022 13:24

When her dad is king, she becomes HRH The Princess Charlotte.

SenecaFallsRedux · 27/11/2022 13:26

So it would be a tribute to the late Queen because she was Duchess of Edinburgh by marriage, a title she didn't even use? Odd reasoning on someone's part.

Serenster · 27/11/2022 13:36

Elizabeth was referred to as the HRH the Duchess of Edinburgh in the years 1947 to 1952 - after her marriage, and before her father died. Here’s a contemporary photo referring to she and Phillip in that way. But it’s not like there will be many people alive today who would remember that (or care…), so it’s not exactly an obvious “tribute”, you are right.
