I decided to sign up to get the advent calendar discount. I'm still not sure whether it's worth sticking with.

The ridiculously tiny 2ml and 5ml products I'm not going to count. I would have liked the blue eyeliner if it hadn't been glittery, but I'm past the days of wanting to wear glitter on my face. I think this is stuff that they couldn't sell.

Other items look ok, but not sure whether they're worth committing to spend £240 at year at Liberty for. I don't notice Liberty doing the regular discounts that other beauty websites do, so the brands I like (hourglass, Chantecaille etc) I can get usually get cheaper elsewhere. I feel that Liberty need to do a bit more to convince me to shop there. Think I will probably cancel.

You can spend your Liberty money in any Liberty department, doesn’t have to be their beauty or perfumery department.

re Jones Road I tried the miracle balm or whatever it's called. it smelt medicinal and made my face shiny, not glowy. Didn't think much of the eye pencil either.

re green glitter pen swap - have given it to daughter for halloween. Surely the cost of posting things these days makes small swaps not worth it (happy to be corrected!)

BeaLola · 23/10/2022 18:55

BakeOffRewatch I haven't ever shopped on Brand Alley so do not know if they are worth it/to be avoided at all costs but they currently have certain Votary products discounted.

Blossomtoes · 23/10/2022 19:17

Brand Alley are a decent retailer. I’ve never had any problems with them.

nomorefortnite · 24/10/2022 12:48

Does anyone know if Liberty will do another GWP before Christmas?

Zeeza · 24/10/2022 12:50

I presume so. The last one wasn't even a proper gwp as it only went to beauty drop subscribers.

nomorefortnite · 24/10/2022 12:55

Thanks Zeeza, I hope they do one soon

Yikes I just bought stuff so hoping it's legit!

BeaLola · 24/10/2022 15:35

Didn't mean to worry anyone about Brand Alley - it's just not a site I have ever so wasn't sure if it was ok - the Votary discounts were 40% on average

H3lloMums · 24/10/2022 16:49

Thanks for the headsup - it was the Votary stuff I bought off it so fingers crossed :)

TildaRae · 24/10/2022 18:18

Has anyone tried the Apple toner? I’ve got oily acne prone skin so was a bit hesitant in case it caused a breakout? Thank you!

TheChosenTwo · 24/10/2022 19:51

@TildaRae i think I’ve got one use left in my bottle for tonight but I’m not acne prone - not sure how your skin might react. It doesn’t seem to have made more any more oily than usual, I do have skin that gets oily by the end of the day but not excessively so.
It was nice but certainly not something I’ll repurchase. I just wanted to get it used up and out of my drawers!

TabithaTittlemouse · 24/10/2022 20:15

@TildaRae I really like it (although same as chosen I wouldn’t buy again). I don’t have oily acne prone skin though.

TildaRae · 24/10/2022 20:17

Thank you. I’ve used it this evening, no itching as of yet. I’m normally ok with Votary products.

BurningTheToast · 25/10/2022 10:02

Oh Yodel are useless!

They couldn't find original delivery address last week so I redirected it and apparently they handed it to the customer at this address yesterday evening. Except they didn't. Can't find it outside and if they'd left it with a neighbour they'd have found me as I was actually at nearest neighbour's house! Spoke to online chat and they're going to investigate and email me.

I was so looking forward to this quarter's box. Not sure I'll use the glittery eye pen but everything else looked really nice. While I wait I'll have to just enjoy everyone else's thoughts on the contents!

TheChosenTwo · 25/10/2022 10:50

I’ve finished the votary (nice but wouldn’t buy again) and also finished the Malin moisturiser. Again, fine but not something I’d buy again. Was surprised at the tiny size as I presumed M&G were a very affordable brand but this one is more pricey than other things from them.
Green glitter pen went directly to dd2.
I used the shower gel at home in the end, was going to put it in the holiday toiletry bag but it’s too small to get a weeks use out of so would have had to pack others anyway, it smelt nice.
Hand cream and perfume have both been passed on as I just couldn’t stick the smell!
Haven’t used the primer yet so can’t comment.
So this box has been okay, I’ve used what I can and passed on what I won’t use. It’s probably the first box I’ve had where I’m not interested in buying any of it full sized though!

purplelicious · 25/10/2022 16:08

@TildaRae - I'm afraid I didn't get on with the Apple toner 😳 I loved it at first, but after using it for five or six days, I noticed my skin was very dry and going red in places and I had itchy dry skin, and more strangely on each side of my nose. I also had a spot breakout on the side of my face next to my eye and I don't usually get spots and never one there.
I don't have acne prone skin, it's quite dry. The toner is quite acidic and that's probably what caused my issues. I can't get on with glycolic acid, which this doesn't have, but it does have acids. I think I'm just sensitive to acids in skincare generally. Since stopping using it a couple of days ago, my skin is already going back to normal, so it was definitely that and if you do get any breakouts because of it, the chances are your skin should return to normal pretty quickly if you stop using it, hopefully.

TildaRae · 25/10/2022 16:14

Thanks purplelicious. I’ve stopped the apple toner now as today it’s given me itchy red patches on my chin and around my mouth. Oh well, onward and upward! Really need a good acid that does negatively effect my skin.

doublecleansed · 25/10/2022 16:24

@TildaRae Have you tried Medik8's Press & Glow? Gentler than a lot of acids. I really like it.

Someaddedsugar · 25/10/2022 18:48

For the PP who asked, the Diptyque pine candle smells amazing, and the fire one is ok - not my favourite scent but it still smells very homely.

Twinsandsome · 25/10/2022 19:02

@Someaddedsugar which diptyque candle was it you bought that smells amazing? I’m a sucker for a nice candle x

Tibtab · 25/10/2022 19:13

Sapin is the pine one I think.

Someaddedsugar · 25/10/2022 19:24

Yes the Sapin one as @Tibtab has said @Twinsandsome. I'm disappointed they haven't done a biscuit scent again so keeping an eye out for another brand launching one.

TabithaTittlemouse · 25/10/2022 20:49

Dh told me to open a parcel that came for him earlier. He had got me the votary pillow spray and a serum (can’t remember which). This may mean that he’s purchased himself a new toy.
