I was wondering about the brooch that Kate was wearing today - it looked like the style of one of QEII’s collection, but didn’t match any that I recalled her wearing. Anyway, turned out it’s an Art Deco diamond brooch that was on Bentley & Skinner’s website until January this year (internet sleuths have spotted this, not me!). A likely birthday present? I wonder from whom?

Aside from the debate around how many black coats is too many I did like today's coat and Kate's hat and hair from the back was also lovely.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see the raspberry version make an appearance as well at some point, that colour is beautiful.

I agree with PP that I’d like to see some more bling (obvs not on remembrance day). I imagine POW now has access to some of the finest jewels in the kingdom but she seems to prefer to wear her own stuff.

Seeing all those together makes me think black really isn't her colour. It's appropriate for the occasion of course but her styling in recent years has been quite severe and I think it makes her look a bit hard and older than her years.

It is my Birthday today - a rather big one ending in 0, but not big enough to get a bus pass. I'm still rocking it today in a leather skirt, oversized jumper and DM's! Oh and tiara, of course 😜

Black isn't her colour, I'm similarish colouring and I haven't a single black item but love the jewel tones that we all like on Kate. But what can she do, she has to wear it. I would have to really up my make up to make it work and I think she does -there's a beautiful side shot of her smiling with William on Saturday and her make up is really warm. Thought yesterday's makeup was way too heavy and you can really see it in the limo shot.

I always say this, but I thought Kate never looked more beautiful than that candid shot of her at Philip's funeral in that beautiful black veil and hat.

Agree about how makeup can soften or harden wearing black.

I look so bad in black I could never marry into the royal family. I think she does pretty well in black considering it's not her colour.

The Queen Mother visited my school (many years ago 😉) to open a new building and of course out Headmistress (who was a similar plump shape to the QM) had been in a spin and had a special outfit but then at the last minute advance news let her know that the QM was wearing pink, the same as our Head so she rushed off to change and reappeared in an old blue thing. Ruined her big day!

I assumed they (their stylists) must have some sort of spreadsheet/ system that captures what they wear and when etc, so that they can repeat the items but not in too close a timescale etc.

I would also assume that all the royal ladies stylists would speak with each other before major events to ensure no clashes.

In my head, it's a whole industry of people working to keep them looking amazing, supporting the 'right' designers and ensuring they're always en pointe. That's why I think Sophie needs someone new (or just someone) as she seems to get it wrong as equally as getting it right (thinking of the recent pleather!)

Oh yes I’m sure they liaise before any big events.

Shame on our hive brain for not noticing this before the daily express 😆 we are losing our touch

Yes, I'm sure there is a whole team of dressers, seamstresses etc working behind the scenes to keep everything flowing smoothly. They must send out memos for the gatherings/events, as there is often an obvious colour theme, and they will want to avoid clashes/upstaging.
