I love Sophie’s outfits from Africa that @MotherofPearl posted. Particularly the pink/red top with the flared sleeves. Really admire Sophie’s dedication. I think she was close to HMQueen and must still be grieving.

@MotherofPearl love those photos of Sophie, I like this white dress on her apparently it’s Zara ? She looks beautiful, I’m not 100% sure about the sleeves they seem a little bit long.
@LadyEloise1 I like the flippy skirt on Kate too. Her hair looks lovely in that photo.

@667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast I like the idea of that dress but I think it's all a bit voluminous on Sophie.

My favourite photos of her trip are the ones that show how engaged and kind she seems. Attached a few more.

Those are lovely pictures of Sophie, she's so engaged and involved and I know these are issues close to her heart.
I always find it tricky dressing for the heat, but she looks good.

I think the white dress is Zara but I always feel broderie anglaise needs a skin-coloured lining rather than white, otherwise you can't see the broderie.

Anyway that's just a minor point and Sophie's trip is so much more than what she's wearing. She's been away a while hasn't she? Must be about 2 weeks by now.

Does anyone know why Edward didn’t go with her ? Presumably he’s off doing something else. Has he taken over the Duke of Edinburgh awards ?

KillingMeDeftly · 15/10/2022 13:20

Maybe he wanted to stay home with the kids?

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 15/10/2022 13:32

@KillingMeDeftly that’s a good point, I’d forgotten they are younger than their cousins.

Maireas · 15/10/2022 13:37

James is still at school, and I know Sophie usually does the school runs so maybe Edward is doing that.
Louise has just started university.

Edward was in Romania doing a DofE thing - the royal family Instagram had some pics I think.

susiebluebell · 15/10/2022 14:43

The white dress is lovely, but it looks like something she's borrowed off someone who is a size bigger. The style and colour are really good on her though. And @KillingMeDeftly broderie anglaise can look VERY skimpy with flesh tones underneath it! 😯😉

eggandonion · 15/10/2022 15:07

I wonder if she has lost weight over the past month, poor Sophie.

JaneJeffer · 15/10/2022 15:52

I've just seen Diane in Denmark on Instagram visiting an exhibition of ball gowns worn to royal receptions and thought of this thread.

AdaColeman · 15/10/2022 18:03

Sophie's white broderie anglaise dress is too close to a Victorian nightdress for my taste, and it completely swamps her. I don't think that it's that she has lost weight, as even the sleeves are too long for her.
Overall though, I think she has done well to put together a practical and pretty wardrobe for hot humid conditions, with quite a lot of travelling into different types of situations.

MotherofPearl · 16/10/2022 09:31

Sophie’s now in Ethiopia! How much longer can she be away for? I don't think the espadrilles are quite right with this outfit.

Max at the IMF in a pink Natan suit. I'm not crazy about that colour but it seems to suit her.

Sophie has to be home soon, it’s half term.

Spudlet · 16/10/2022 10:23

That pink is a bit pepto-bismol, but Max carries it off!

Its my birthday! I asked DH to get me some earrings from Heavenly London, which I think I heard about on these threads first - isn’t it where Sophie gets some of her jewellery from? They’re lovely, anyway - very sparkly ✨

StartupRepair · 16/10/2022 10:27

Oh I have been looking at heavenly's sale. Sadly the postage to Australia is really high.

AdaColeman · 16/10/2022 11:03

🥳 🥳 🥳
Happy Birthday Spudlet! Have a lovely sparkling day!

Maireas · 16/10/2022 11:03

@Spudlet - Happy Birthday 🎂!

Just been looking on heavenly London there's a ring I love but has sold out. Some lovely reasonably priced pieces in there.

"Princess Amalia: Security fears force Dutch princess from student home - BBC News" www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63250967.amp

This is so sad poor girl

MotherofPearl · 16/10/2022 11:22

Happy birthday @Spudlet! 🎂

That's awful for Princess Amalia.

RomainingCalm · 16/10/2022 12:16

That's such a shame for Princess Amalia.

I always get the impression that, for William, despite the security presence, his time at St Andrew's (and living on Anglesey with Kate) was the most 'normal' period he had. It's sad that all of the younger royals can't have a short time to just be a student and enjoy that little bit of independence.

Eaumyword · 16/10/2022 12:48

Happy Birthday @Spudlet! Pop your tiara on and enjoy!
I quite like Max's pink. Wouldn't work on anyone else, it would be a Lady Penelope moment of course...
