Thank you for prompting also - I've been meaning to look at some more modern chypres (I like aromatics elixir but something more summery would be good).

I've just rediscovered my old Chypres.
The vintage one is Yvresse & it's just beautiful, fruity & warm. I also have Apercu which is woody & cinammon-rich. Plus a forgotten partial bottle of Miller Harris Terre de Bois, which I believe i haven't worn yet. Green ones are Synthetic jungle - green, abrasive & harsh but curiously lovable & the gentle summer Chypre - Jasmine from Miller Harris. I'm sure I'll have fun finding more, as I have masses of decants 😊

SOTD is Ambre Narguile.

I also thought Apercu sounded amazing until I got my hands on a bottle and discovered I absolutely hate it. It must be the cinnamon, which I also detest in food.

I have a vintage bottle of Y (before they discontinued it and revived it as a mens fragrance) and it's very lovely. I might have Yvresse somewhere too, must have a dig around.

Oh no @DramaAlpaca, was it you who asked me where to buy Apercu a while ago?
I guess it is pretty cinnamon heavy but that's what I love about it.
I have a visceral reaction to Kenzo jungle l'elephant perfume, because of the spices in it. It's the only perfume that has ever made me feel sick.
I would love to have tried some of the original Y. The Yvresse has a slight dusting of a warmth from Cinnamon but it's so beautifully blended into a soft focus ' fuzzy peach ' along with some gentle florals & a touch of moss. Only what I'd expect from Sophia Grosjman.

Umm, I think it was @Cantonet but it wasn't your fault! I hadn't cottoned on to the cinnamon notes, I was just excited to explore a new chypre. Don't worry about it, please. Totally my fault for a blind buy so I've only myself to blame - but it wasn't at all expensive. I'm with you on Jungle L'Elephant btw, it makes me feel sick too. I'm stuck with a (luckily small) bottle of it. Isn't it amazing how subjective perfume is? I adore Oakmossery, you might hate it despite the fact our taste is generally fairly similar. Totally agree with you on Sophia Grosjman btw, she's an amazing perfumer and I generally love her stuff, with the notable exception of the peachy sweet Tresor.

Thank you for the info on the 4160Tuesdays chypres. I already have, and love, Rose Ribes, but have ordered Court of Ravens and Oakmossery as 2 of my trio of 15mls. Third is Red Queen, which I’ve wanted to try for a while.

SOTD is another rose favourite, Diptyque Eau Rose.

I've asked for a 15ml of 4160tuesdays inevitable crimes of passion 🙂

I asked for Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil bur was told I wasn’t getting it as I appear to be quite capable of buying plenty of perfume for myself 😂 All my packages arriving appear to not have gone unnoticed.

I asked for YSL Libre (as we both liked it, which is a good start).

I keep trying it on in shops in a meaningful way when we're in town, but I think I'm going to have to actually wait till Christmas for my bottle :)

Looking forward to the oud reveal too although I haven't worn the samples this week. So tempted by the Les Senteurs discount even though it's only 10%. I want to buy L' Air Du Desert Marocain but I'm not supposed to be buying more perfume. I've got enough to be embalmed in it even if I live for another 50 years...

SOTD L’Interdit, finishing up a sample. I don’t hate it but it’s definitely too strong and heady for me, can only put a tiny bit on.
