Sorry, you need to click on the image to see it's only £95....

LesserKnownKardashian · 15/11/2022 11:30

Quick question please, Perfumistas: has anyone bought fragrance from makeup.uk ? If something seems to be too good to be true it probably is!
This is around half the price it is at bloomperfume.co.uk

Not one I've heard of, sorry

Have you checked them on trust pilot?

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 15/11/2022 11:45

Hmmm

Trust pilot reviews not great

RayonSunrise · 15/11/2022 12:21

Thank you, will seek out the Paul Smith!

I am hugely undetehelmed by all the Jo Malones I've smelt.

They just don't last at all. And a few are toilet water strength

Same here. I have the kind of skin that struggles to hold on to perfume at all, so I prefer heavy hitters, but haven't found a Jo Malone that comes into that category yet. I've been pretty underwhelmed too! ( I haven't tried the Pomegranate Noir one yet, but it doesn't sound from the notes like something I would enjoy).

I call them "no malone" 🤣🤣

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 15/11/2022 12:35

I'm currently in a perfume rut I think. I've got the oud box to sniff and haven't bothered yet.

Sotd Estee lauder modern muse nuit again (I do really like this)

I'm being investigated for long covid atm and have no energy at all. I'm also on a diet - I've lost 3lbs in 6 days but I'm furious at myself for getting so fat 😡💔

It's going to take months to lose the weight. Sigh.

It's raining heavily here today which doesn't help ☂️

CorneliaStreet · 15/11/2022 15:56

@Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton the best way to get out of a perfume rut is to buy some new ones!

Gallivant perfumes are so good, perfumes hardly ever last very long on me but I sprayed this one on at 7.30 this morning and it's still going strong.

Hahaha
I need no encouragement!
I like gallivant Istanbul which is lovely
I've asked dh for a bottle of 4160tuesdays inevitable crimes of passion 🙃

FestivelyScent · 15/11/2022 17:15

That's very kind of you @CorneliaStreet but I wouldn't want to accept in case Pomegranate Noir irritated my migraines (which has happened with a few perfumes recently) and then I couldn't wear it. Thank you very much for the offer though. 😊

I've said it before, but this thread is definitely the nicest corner of the Internet. Xmas Smile

SOTD is Youth-Dew.

I hope the migraines ease up soon @FestivelyScent. It’s so debilitating. I can’t even work out what the triggers are for mine a lot of the time, it’s so frustrating.

FestivelyScent · 15/11/2022 23:09

I'm also struggling to identify my migraine triggers @CorneliaStreet and don't really have much hope of doing so as they happen almost daily. I can't even remember what it's like to not constantly have a headache or migraine of some sort. I have an appointment with the specialist in early December and am pinning all my hopes on him. I just want this awful brain fog and exhaustion gone. 🤞
I hope yours improve soon too. They really are truly awful things. 💐

SOTN is Ambre Narguile, because this is cinnamon-y and we have delicious homemade cinnamon buns in the house. 😋 Xmas Smile

SOTD MMM BTF.

@Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton Excellent weight loss! I put on 3lb through the whole Covid/lockdown thing, then gained almost a stone in three weeks (!) after starting HRT in the summer. I’ve stopped weighing as I know it is not “real weight” but am doing LOADS of exercise. Currently a 12/10 instead of my usual 10/12.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 16/11/2022 09:09

Meeting a friend for coffee later.

SOTD is Opium.

You smell INCREDIBLE 😍

FestivelyScent · 16/11/2022 22:44

Why, thank you! @Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton 😊

SOTN is Amber Absolute.

OP posts:
ThreeImaginaryBoys · 16/11/2022 22:56

SOTD was Nahema.

On a whim I bought an APO dupe of Tom Ford Black Orchid. It has that lovely clean vetiver undertone and some warm spice but I'm undecided about it. It seems to become a generic 'wander through duty free' pong after a while. I'm not a fan of ylang ylang and that seems to be hitting the back of my nose, too.

The weather is thoroughly cold, wet and miserable here ... perfect for some heavy hitters to cheer me up! I have a pure amber oil that I might be reaching for in the morning.

FestivelyScent · 16/11/2022 23:07

Definitely cold and wet here too.

I'm actually so happy it's November and I can wear all my wonderful orientals and ambers. These are the perfumes than feel the most 'me'; spraying them on is like slipping into a second skin.

And it's nearly December! I can get out my Christmassy smells then! Xmas Smile 🎄

While away, I tested Coromandel at Harvey Nicks on a day trip to Leeds, and loved the patchouli-oriental drydown so much I'm going to order a sample of it so I can give it a proper go.

OP posts:
ThreeImaginaryBoys · 16/11/2022 23:09

@FestivelyScent what are your Xmas perfumes? I confess that my autumn/winter choices tend to merge :)

FestivelyScent · 16/11/2022 23:27

@ThreeImaginaryBoys Ooh, my Christmassy perfumes are my favourites:

Serge Lutens Arabie - this smells like 101 spices and all the fruits soaking in a bowl ready for a christmas cake.

CK Obsession - so festive with the orange, clove, cinnamon, incense and that touch of green that smells like a hint of Christmas tree to me. And all on the most wonderfully rich vanilla-amber base.

Estée Lauder Cinnabar - it's that orange, clove, cinnamon thing again. This smells a little different after reformulation, though still good. I layer it with Youth Dew now to make it smell similar to the old version.

I also use Youth-Dew, Opium, and Aromatics Elixir - all spiced and rich and warm.

Most of my winter favourites smell Christmassy on some level though. Amber Absolute reminds me of Midnight Mass with the strong smoky frankincense, the cinnamon spiced apples of Ambre Narguile smell like mulled cider, and the bay in Ambre Sultan smells like Christmas wreaths.

I'm hoping to get some Youth Dew bath oil to use as pure perfume. It's supposed to smell the most similar to the old version, which I always thought super Christmassy.

OP posts:
ThreeImaginaryBoys · 16/11/2022 23:49

@FestivelyScent Arabie and Cinnabar are on my wish list :)

Obsession makes me feel sad. It was the scent of my teens and I adored it. I wore it for years, but I dislike the new formulation. I look for scents that remind me of the original!

Roll on Xmas ...

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 17/11/2022 16:59

Sotd pp mmm btf
