Evening Royal style and beauty fans.
Into the Carolean era, with more bling we hope! Also more state banquets?

Bringing the requisite sparkle, these are the earrings Kate wore the other day. White gold with pavé diamonds.

I would have worn yellow gold with that dress! But maybe that’s the obvious choice...

Yes I like the dress too. Lovely colour and lovely shape. Not that keen on the jacket over it (although it likely matches the pattern on the dress so it coordinates perfectly well) - I think a big block of white can look too stark against a colour like that, especially when accessories are beige/nude.

I keep forgetting how tall Mathilde is!

Are all of the senior royals tall these days (obvs apart from KC & Camilla)?

Camilla is 5ft8, that's pretty tall for a woman of her age.

Most of the British Royal family are around average height or a bit taller than average for their age. Beatrice is a bit below average height but by no means short at 5ft4.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/10/2022 11:55

5'8"! She always looks so much shorter than Kate.

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 12:09

Kate will be adding a fair few inches with her heels!

GrouchyKiwi · 06/10/2022 12:13

Heh, those heels are high indeed. Grin

Speaking of Camilla: her wedding outfit is one of my favourites. I love the over coat thingy (technical term), and the feather headpiece was cool.

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 12:15

Yes everything about it was perfect!

I think a lot of the continental royals are tall. Even Letizia is 5'7 (but prob more like 5'9/10 in her heels). Apparently Princess Anne is only 5'4 but I always picture her being tall. Maybe it's the bouffant hair!

Gooseysgirl · 06/10/2022 13:41

The Wales' are in N.Ireland today... this is ok, coat a bit too long IMO, hair looking fabulous as usual!

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 13:48

I wonder what kind of heel...? <big sigh at inevitable answer>

Kate should go by some kind of rule, I reckon! 1 time high heeled courts, next time, totally different style of shoe - something, ANYTHING to give it a bit of interest (block heels not allowed since that’s the only other thing she really wears), next time low to mid heels only!

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 13:51

Love the rest of the outfit; I can get behind the very long coat since I don’t think she’s worn one for her last handful of appearances, has she?

Is it the same one she wore to the unveiling of that portrait of her and William a while back?

GrouchyKiwi · 06/10/2022 13:54

I love that whole outfit, even the silly bow. I'd absolutely wear it.

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 13:58

Oh I adore a pussy bow! Love a bit of a retro vibe.

susiebluebell · 06/10/2022 15:14

Yes I think I like that outfit on Kate overall, although it's a bit unusual to have a daytime coat be that long and that pale blue, which I consider to be a more evening colour. If it had been olive green, it would have been perfect (for me). She does look great though

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 15:18

Yes the length is too long for me for daytime, too, but I forgive it because a) there might be some trend I’m not aware of, in which case she gets points for trying something and b) it’s not a coat dress which in itself always gets MANY POINTS and b) I don’t think she’s worn one for a while. I’m always very pleased when she mixes it up because in the past she has really tended to get stuck and wear the same silhouette over and over again for far too long.

susiebluebell · 06/10/2022 15:47

Totally agree NiqueNique with all your points!

And realised I may have just been projecting an actual olive green coat I've seen Kate wearing!

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 15:55

I used b) twice! Grin That’s what I get for trying to multi-task!!

I can totally see an olive green coat working with this outfit. As it is I really dislike the coat she is wearing, both on account of its length and its colour. Pale blue is not a favourite of mine.

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 16:01

Yes and it also doesn’t suit her IMO (pale blue).

Olive green would have made it a perfect outfit (barring length/style of shoe) - love it.

meateatingveggie · 06/10/2022 16:10

Another big vote of approval from me.. love those colours together and on her.

Also agree she needs new shoes...

meateatingveggie · 06/10/2022 16:11

I'd like to see her chop a good 6 inches off her hair though...

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 16:15

Yes, me too! I long for the day she goes for a modern, choppy lob. She almost had one a few years ago, but not quite! I’d also love her to go properly short. It’ll grow back!

LadyEloise1 · 06/10/2022 16:22

Thankfully Kate didn't wear green or orange in Northern Ireland. It is a bit of a minefield sartorially Smile

NiqueNique · 06/10/2022 16:27

Wouldn’t it be fun if she just reversed her approach entirely and spent 3 - 5 years never, ever going for the obvious/literal choice (jewellery excepted, of course!)?? I’d have so much fun waiting to see how she’d decide to pitch it on each occasion, it’d make things so interesting.
