Evening Royal style and beauty fans.
Into the Carolean era, with more bling we hope! Also more state banquets?

My favourite wedding dress isn't in that selection, it's Norman Hartnell's dress for Princess Margaret.

From that selection l love Camilla's gorgeous hat, and Eugenie's spectacular tiara.

Yes, Princess Margaret's dress is beautiful. I tend to like fewer embellishments with the focus being on the way the fabric is worked. For example, I love the skirt on Catherine's dress (a masterpiece of design and dressmaking) but not so much the bodice.

Sarah's dress

This is my favourite dress. In fact I had something similar made for my wedding.

Meghan looks great in the red. Very beautiful woman

Sarah's dress is my favourite, very elegant, then Margaret's. I liked the shape of Kate's, but I didn't like the bodice - like you, Seneca. I really don't like the visible cups on a dress.

I agree I think a kilt is very flattering on most men unless they have very skinny legs lol. I’m married to a Scotsman and my father is Scottish so I might be biased. 😊

Yep my DH got his kilt instead of an engagement ring 😂. He looks hot in it

It's a shame, in a way, that I try to stay away from a certain topic which tends to attract batshittery...because there's certainly a whole lot to talk about.

Will have to stick to kilts, brooches and wedding dresses! I also loved Margaret's, and Kate's (but not the bodice). Bea looked beautiful in HMQ's dress!

Back to Mathilde, I was surprised to find that those mustard yellow trousers are not new. What do we think - better or worse with sky blue shoes and top? (They are at least very useful for wearing flag colours (Belgium, Ukraine - they’d work for Germany too! 😂)

Name changed a few times, been here since the beginning but busy with an international move recently. Not sure how to reclaim my tiara, may have to look for a new one! 😁

Out of the dresses there, Anne's, Camilla's and Meghan's. I prefer simple, clean lines and really enjoy Meghan's clothes for this (but like a pp) could live without the constant hand holding. Now and again and I think it's really sweet and humanizing but I'm worried these two have actually been superglued together!

Meghans dress was very similar to mine that I wore back in the 90s

The belt really ruins the trousers. It's a comedy belt, which never makes for great style (IMO). It looks like a belt from a Santa dress-up outfit (Santa used deliberately because it looks like the US version of his outfit, to me)!

I liked Meghan's dress a lot. And the tiara she wore.

To answer your question @Serenster I think the yellow and blue are better together than the yellow and red. But it's cancelled out by the awful belt. You're right though, they're great flag trousers!😄

I actually love yellow and red together, but it needs to be more muted than that otherwise it's just too much. At least here in Europe where it comes across as so in-your-face. In places like Africa or the Indian subcontinent it can work really well.

My favorite wedding dress is not on there: Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones.

Hers is one of my favourites as well, SenecaFallsRedux. I loved the Tudor style inspiration, the draping fabric, the simplicity of it and her jewels and flowers.

Quite different in style, I also loved Lady Helen Windsor’s gothic architectural wedding dress.

Re wedding dresses... Loved Meghan, Eugenie, Sarah C, Bea, Autumn. Really disliked Zara's unfortunately. Did not like the neckline of Kate's at all, boat neck or round neck would have been nicer, but the rest of it was gorgeous. My most recent favourite was Lady Gabriella!

Words fail me on Mathilde 😆 channeling her inner Max does not quite work, but fair play to her for mixing things up a bit -and I like the blue on her! Maybe her and Delphine have been shopping together 😄

I think Bea wins for me. She just looked stunning, and they both looked to happy with each other.

I liked Sophie's too but she must have lost so much weight in the last couple of weeks for them not to have been able to take it in so it fitted.

Yes, and I think there was something really special in that very small, very intimate wedding (even if it was dictated by circumstance). The photo of them with HMQ and Prince Philip was lovely. And the floral decorations were stunning!

Every time I think of Sophie's wedding I just feel so much pity. That truly awful tiara!

I really dislike how the jewellery works in the RF. I hope Charles makes it all available bar some key pieces only for the use of Camilla.

I was secretly hoping Sophie would wear her wedding necklace when she was in official mourning. I must like it more than she did.

Me too Sophie always seemed to be the poor relation. However, looking back Fergie wore some gorgeous pieces. The meanness came later. I'm looking at a palace employee or more who got a little above themselves

I don’t think it was meanness. I think after 2/3 divorces (not sure about the timeline tbh) there was likely a hesitancy about presuming that this marriage would last and. decision made to be a little more circumspect about handing out one of the fanciest tiaras as if it were wedding a favour. Also Edward was right down the pecking order at that point - the fact that he and Sophie have stepped up and become heavily involved with royal duties in the intervening years couldn’t have been foreseen then. Edward was off doing his own thing at that point.

However now, after Sophie’s hard work and her close relationship with HMQ, and Edwards’s commitment to being a working royal and his having stuck to it for 20 years, I think there is plenty of scope for widening the jewellery selection a fair bit.

*a wedding favour. Also please ignore misplaced period and add in an ‘a’ as applicable. I’m posting whilst cooking and didn’t pay attention to what I was doing.
