Not sure what thread number we are up to here but ALL ABOARD if you get JOY from buying and trying beauty products!!!

We sometimes enable but we also share out thoughts, support one another and generally share our love of beauty consumerism!

Oh yes, that Beautypro warming mask was absolute rubbish, it didn’t even warm up. Perhaps I misunderstood the instructions/purpose.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 21/02/2023 01:33

@Experiment627
Don’t worry and don’t lose faith! Eventually you will find something that is close to Stella. Have you tried some brands that make dupes of the originals? I know it’s not the same but if in need…

When I was little I remember one of the first fragrances my mum gifted to me. It was really special and I loved the smell. It was called Cuca dols😅. I only had one bottle and soon after they discontinued it. Not long ago I found in a local supermarket in Spain a fragrance that I find it’s very similar to what I remember and so I bought it and it is good enough for my olfactory memory. I am talking 25 years in between, but hey ho…

Experiment627 · 21/02/2023 04:16

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel one of the perfumes I tried was from Divain - who do copycat perfumes - I smelled NO resemblance! Just glad they send a sample along side the full bottle and I can return the full size. I already had a perfume balm from "Tres bien impression of" - quite nice but again not a dupe.

Maybe I should start a petition to bring it back???

@LadyEloise1 it wasn’t stand out and it took me ages to get used to the super skinny brush - I’m now on a Laura Mercier one with a brush that could pass for a loo brush it’s so huge 🤣

I think you just had to take the stickers off? That's what I did anyway but it did take a while to heat up. Tbh it just felt like I had a warm sanitary towel on my eyes, you could probably make a nicer mask yourself at home.

Try this! They are a company in Brighton who do dupes and are vegan!
I've ordered a few times and they've always been brilliant. Also the reviews for the Stella dupe are sounding promising

Experiment627 · 21/02/2023 13:16

OMG @CinnamonCoffee I LOVE you! Thank you so much for sending me this link. Eden did not come up at all with any of my searches!!!!

I am also going to order the dupe from Perfume Parlour if I can fricking get their website to work!!!!! I shall report back!!!!

Exactly @CinnamonCoffee!!!

i can hardly wait to get some empties! so so bored with some of the stuff i have but too cheap to just throw it out.

FiveShelties · 22/02/2023 07:44

@greenspaces4peace that is just me. I keep using and using and wishing they were empty, but I cannot bring myself to throw them away. I cut open the tubes to get out the last drop!

Experiment627 · 22/02/2023 08:56

I have two empties:

  • Steradent active plus: keeps my night guard from getting too manky
  • Marks & Spencer formula absolute day cream spf 30: used up as a body cream as broke me out on face

Two empties:

Boots Bakuchiol serum. I like this one. It’s a regular in my stash

Bom Dia bright cream. Not a massive fan of the smell but loved the texture. I found it very moisturising.

I do the same. Even if I ache to dump something I don't really like.
My Mum instilled in me "Waste not, want not"
Thanks Mum 😀

Four more.

  1. Verden bath oil - I liked this, it's a lighter oil in a pleasant scent and left my skin moisturised. I won't repurchase as bath oils seem to appear regularly in GWP/Advents.
  2. Diptyque body wash sample. Scent wasn't named, it was quite fresh and citrus but weak. I'm obsessed with Do Son right now and it hits hard so perhaps my perspective is skewed. Nice but not a future purchase.
  3. Sunday Riley pink drink, I've already repurchased. This is a hero product for me. It refreshes and firms my skin without stinging or causing redness. Instant impact.
10. Benefit, Precisely My Brow in no. 6. I will repurchase. It isn't that the product is amazing it's the cool dark shade. Other dark browns tend to be too red on my pale skin.

@OchonAgusOchonOh I just saw an advert for Sol de Janeiro on ITV2 (in a break in Love Island 😁 and it seemed really amateurish to me but maybe that is what the yuff of today go for. I have only tried the Bum Bum cream and I smelled like off milk!

I watched a tonne of YT videos yesterday on Stella dupes... there is a channel "Be different change lives" that had some videos and I asked after a dupe for Arpege (which is another fave) and the lovely channel owner gave me some suggestions which I appreciate so much.

@Experiment627 - yeah, I suspect I’m not their target demographic 😅

Experiment627 · 22/02/2023 13:58

Decided to not wash hair today and use dry shampoo instead... makes it more greasy! Really should chuck out! Batiste bare is anything but!!! Any recommendations for a dry shampoo that is lightweight but good at sucking away oil please?

OP posts:
Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 22/02/2023 15:27

@Experiment627

I am so sorry that Batiste dry shampoo didn’t work for you. To me it made my hair a disgusting mess too tbh. The day I can’t wash my hair I rock a wide hairband or I wear my hair in a messy bun.

I saw Arpege by Lanvin for a really good price in TKmaxx a while ago. That’s the one with the black opaque bottle isn’t it? If so, I sometimes buy from Notino as their prices are better than most shops but before buying I compare sites, just in case.

Fiveshelties@FiveShelties I too cut them open in half!! All except for toothpaste ( that I can’t bring myself to dip the brush in it)
For shower creams and bath stuff I leave for my DD to play with in the water when they bathe to take the last bit of soap out.

I am so happy that there is like minded people in here🥰

Experiment627 · 22/02/2023 15:42

Thanks @OchonAgusOchonOh did you hear that TKMaxx is closing down? I probably should get to one and see if I can get any beauty bargains. The Arpege that is out at the moment is the version that was reformulated in 1993 - I like it but it is no way near the gorgeousness that was the original formulation - which is what the YT lady was advising me on. Sorry I was not clear about this.

RosetteNebula · 22/02/2023 16:24

@Experiment627 I know it's not what you asked but when I was on maternity leave I started washing my hair less and stopped using dry shampoo. I have very greasy hair and prior to that I used to wash every other day (sometimes 2/3 days in a row if going out) and dry shampoo in between. Now I'm back to washing every other day but minus the dry shampoo and whilst I don't feel totally fresh on my non wash days, my hair actually feels less dirty then when I used to use dry shampoo. I'm so glad I gave it up.

Fraaahnces · 22/02/2023 16:31

@Experiment627 dry shampoo shouldn’t ever be used on greasy hair or it will emphasise the grease. If you want to extend between shampoos, you put it on straight after shampooing and blow drying and it will absorb oil as it turns up. You brush it out, then reapply in the morning, etc. Otherwise it turns into a clumpy mess. (Hairdresser ex flatmate taught me this trick.)

Experiment627 · 22/02/2023 16:34

I once tried (for a whole year) to wash my hair every other day... but alas the oily roots persisted @RosetteNebula I am completely aware it is mainly in my head.

@Fraaahnces you will laugh but as I applied the dry shampoo this morning I thought "God dang it! I should have done this last night!" but last night I was fully thinking I would have a shower this morning, but then this morning came and my desire for a shower waned...
