Not sure what thread number we are up to here but ALL ABOARD if you get JOY from buying and trying beauty products!!!

We sometimes enable but we also share out thoughts, support one another and generally share our love of beauty consumerism!

Have any of you tried Louis Vuitton's Spell on you?

3 empties from last week.
Noble Isle Summer Rising Shower Gel - perfectly pleasant, never wowed by this brand, but happy to use.
Aromatherapy Associates Muscle Gel - I like this, nice warm feeling after using it - I don't use my muscles enough to merit buying it.
Eva Lom Rescue Masque - I really liked this, left my skin really soft.

That takes me up to 35 empties for the year.

Only tried it for the first time last night, but Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (118ml bottle in a beauty box) left my skin feeling like glass, so utterly smooth, honestly, like someone else’s skin! Very keen to see how it goes with this one. Have been using various exfoliating pads and toners in winter (I use them much less in summer because of the sun) but none has ever had such an immediate and obvious result.

Fraaahnces · 17/02/2023 14:03

@FiveShelties I just caught up on the storm situation. Hope you and your loved ones are safe and well. Hope not too much damage. Have just seen some footage and it looks horrific!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 17/02/2023 21:37

I hope everyone is ok!

I haven’t tried that @Experiment627 .

Mavis I may put that one on my wishlist. Honestly these days it looks like the only thing I purchase from beauty products is just advertisements and false promises. Most of them don’t appear to do anything other than leaving my skin greasy.

I have a few empties to report but don’t have a picture.

Palmolive pomegranate shower gel. Smells nice, it’s vegan but I think it’s too gloopy and slippery. Does not lather well. I have several to go through but won’t repurchase.

Palmolive up rose and black tea shower gel. Was on offer at Tesco but it has the same issue as the one above. Smells lush but I don’t like the texture.

From the archives of my beauty products, Avon Sleeptherapy night balm. It just didn’t do anything for me, supposedly helps to sleep. Happy to put it in my empties basket.

Givenchy very irresistible edt sample sachet. Straight to the bin. Rancid.

RosetteNebula · 17/02/2023 21:49

Just used the last of a Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. Love thjs product, have been using it for a couple of years now and have another two bottles to be used.

I was a bit naughty tonight and went to Superdrug. Bought a new foundation (a cheapy from Collection and I did need one tbf) and a Hado Labo moisturiser which I definitely do not need but I've read good things about it on here.

Buster27 · 17/02/2023 23:20

@Experiment627 I've been getting ads for LV fragrances the last couple of days. I haven't tried any but also interested to see what people think of Spell On You.

@RosetteNebula I'm using that toner just now too, I also love it!

Experiment627 · 18/02/2023 06:24

@Buster27 I too have seen the ads... which has created the desire but I am very particular about perfume.

I have two empties to report:

  • Garnier Body Repair restoring moisturiser: OMG not sure why I did not try this years ago - great value and a great body lotion.
  • Weleda 24h hydrating facial lotion: from 2021 H&B advent... really did not like smell and caused anything put on top, including make-up, to pill.

RosetteNebula · 18/02/2023 11:25

Another empty here, I'm on a roll! L'Occitane body lotion sample size. Nice enough fórmula wise but the smell was a bit meh and deffo not worth the price. I prefer body butters anyway.

plumduck · 18/02/2023 11:26

Charlotte tilbury night cream sample - absolutely horrendous to used. I gave it two nights but its so sticky l.

Fraaahnces · 18/02/2023 12:14

@RosetteNebula Let me know which Hada Labo moisturiser you bought. There are so many, including some especially made for UK market. I absolutely LOVE Hada Labo.

RosetteNebula · 18/02/2023 13:07

@Fraaahnces It's the anti-ageing super hydrator in the red and white bottle. I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited! Seems pretty good value, was on offer for around £11 and the bottle is quite big.

Shortkiwi · 18/02/2023 16:07

A few empties here!

Loreal Elvive thickening conditioner- nice, would repurchase but find shampoo is sufficient on its own

Garnier plumping watermelon shampoo - nice, nothing special

Boots no 7 vit c glow toner- felt it brightened skin, would repurchase

Boots no 7 vit c and vit e capsules- felt silky and as if they were brightening on the skin but don’t know if they did much tbh

Kiehls crème de corps sample- love this- very moisturising and sinks in well- have repurchased a big bottle!

Cerave hydrating cleanser - didn’t feel this deep cleansed enough so wouldn’t repurchase

@RosetteNebula I think I tried that one - and a few more was not impressed. I think we are getting the shite version in Blighty.

Thank you @Fraaahnces we are safe and have no damage. All our friends are safe but some have no power and limited communications. I am totally shocked by how bad this is, watching the reports on TV and knowing that people have lost everything so close to us has been very sobering.

We are very very grateful to be safe and still have our home.

CurlyFerret · 19/02/2023 15:46

Big empty week here

Batiste dry shampoo heavenly volume my fave and always return to this

Molton Brown Fiery Pink Pepper - lovely but I’ve fallen out with MB of late as I think their prices are insane

Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara - was ok, I’ve not actually purchased a specific mascara for ages as I’m still working through AC or GWP so no need to rp anything for the foreseeable

Le Petite Marseillais Grenade de Mediterranee - loved this, smells gorgeous and really moisturising

Bramley sleep spray with lavender and yarrow - pants really, sorry didn’t work at all and have used as an air freshener in the loo instead

Biotherm oil therapy- lovely, big bottle so I got a bit bored so glad it’s finished at last! Would rp though

Tatcha Dewy skin cream - wanted to love but whilst it’s nice and moisturing felt it left my face sticky so hard to apply make up over the top so don’t think I’d buy full size, might try one of the other variants though

That brings me to 11/100 so far

MavisMcMinty · 19/02/2023 18:53

What I like about Molton Brown is how much bubble you get in the bath, and how long the bubbles last. What I don’t like are the fragrances (apart from one rhubarb scent they do) and the insane prices.

LadyEloise1 · 19/02/2023 19:52

@CurlyFerret I was soooo disappointed with the Kevyn Aucoin mascara.

EasterIssland · 19/02/2023 20:58

I’ve really liked this spf and I’ve got a new one now. Lasted much longer than what I thought it’d

No empties but my Look Fantastic advent calendar came at the weekend and I tried a few of the products yesterday.

Christophe Robin scalp scrub This an an errm interesting product. I like the spa-type smell but the crystals get absolutely everywhere and I found it hard to wash out of my hair. I will probably just use it as a body scrub. Would people really pay £40+ for this?

The Ordinary mandelic acid I swore I was done with acids after hideous experiences with glycolic and tret but I couldn't resist. I didn't like the texture much but once it dried my skin looked and felt amazing. Saw DH in the kitchen and he said "God, your face is so fucking shiny" so I'll take that as a compliment. I do have a small burn on my cheek now so I'm just putting lots of bio oil on that.

PMD Mini Weird vibrating silicone face cleaning thingy. Made my face a bit sore and I read a thread on here where someone said it gave them burst capillaries. Don't think I'll continue to use.

KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub Actually I quite like this. Applied it before shaving and I do think the areas feel smoother.

CinnamonCoffee · 20/02/2023 17:27

I suffer with dry skin so always on the look out for a good hydrating product. Have ordered the Hada labo and free delivery too! Such a good price so hopefully it works

CinnamonCoffee · 20/02/2023 17:29

I used to have oily skin but after finishing isotretinoin a few years ago it's gone the other way.

TheChosenTwo · 20/02/2023 17:33

@EasterIssland i like their spf too, I use a different one in that range but it applies nicely (took me a while to get used to the sort of thick waxy almost greasy texture! I’m not selling it well but I’m truly a really big fan!) and it doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin which is always a plus.

Experiment627 · 20/02/2023 20:46

I tried out 3 dupes for Stella by Stella McCartney today. None are anything like the original. My heart is broken 💔

Some empties:

Aveeno cream My favourite hand cream ever.

Beautypro warming eye mask Got this in my Look Fantastic advent calendar. Did not like and much prefer cooling masks.

Aldi conditioning hand sanitizer Does hand sanitiser count? 🤔 Did the job and I quite liked the scent. Would repurchase but I have loads to use up as DD liked shoplifting these in her buggy during the pandemic 😂
