Not sure what thread number we are up to here but ALL ABOARD if you get JOY from buying and trying beauty products!!!

We sometimes enable but we also share out thoughts, support one another and generally share our love of beauty consumerism!

@RosetteNebula

I too repurpose products on other parts of my body.

At the moment I am using a lipbalm on my hands. I like it because it ‘s in stick and I don’t have to touch it as my ezcema is on the back of my hands. I am not a fan of hand creams for that matter so they too become foot cream!
As for face creams I don’t like I reuse them on the neck or the arms.
I don’t buy body scrubs anymore. I make a paste with salt and normal body wash until I reach the consistency I like.

Finally a question 🙋🏻‍♀️ to all

Can bubble bath be used as shower gel or is it too drying and it’s only purpose is being added to water?

MavisMcMinty · 15/02/2023 17:29

I use anything called body wash/shower gel as bubble bath, and as hand-wash in emergencies, but that wasn’t what you asked, sorry. (I have a bath but no shower.)

PomRuns · 15/02/2023 18:23

Dr Salts create calm shower gel. Loved this, gorgeous fragrance. Was in impulse supermarket buy, Think was around £2 rather than £4 in Waitrose, Definite rp for me.

Rituals serendipity scrub, I really like a rituals scrub, so effective. Wasn't sure of this fragrance so wouldn't get this one again.

Elemis Pro collagen essence. Was ok, prefer a serum and wouldn't want to use this plus a serum as don't like to overload my skin.

Dermalogica Vit C serum. Wasn't sure did anything, will see as now using a different brand.

Bb invisible hair oil. I liked this, light and smoothing. Will rp but have about 15 other products to get though.

12/80
2 samples.

@MavisMcMinty I never thought about needing a skincare supply for nuclear emergencies...

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I do not see why not but think it will depend on the product whether it will be too drying.

@PomRuns what did the Dr Salts shower cream smell of?

Thanks @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel - the pink one (my daughter chose) is predictably not me. I shall get the purple one today as they’re half price atm. (Currently rocking Aura by TMügler and reminiscing about my bad old days! 🤫)

PomRuns · 15/02/2023 22:46

@Experiment627 i think there are different ones. Mine was lavender - was quite subtle but lovely !

MidnightMeltdown · 15/02/2023 22:46

Falling a bit behind with my empties. Two more full sizes here:

11) Soap & Glory Call of Fruity Body Wash - this came as part of a set that I bought in the sale a while ago. The scent is a bit bubblegumy for a grown up, but it's not bad. It's decent quality and lasted ages. Still working through the matching body lotion

12) Sunday Riley Auto Correct Eye Cream - quite liked this but wasn't wowed enough to RP. Think that I have another in the stash anyway. Ridiculously overpackaged for 15ml cream

Total for the year: 12/130

I feel silly posting this empty but here goes.
OPI nail polish remover. It was fine but I’ve now purchased cheaper. Certainly nothing revolutionary it did what it was meant to do.

@RosetteNebula - I can’t see why you couldn’t use the bubble bath as a shower gel. I would probably decant some into a bottle and dilute it though. I imagine due to the bubbling ability it’s more “detergent” than soap, IYKWIM.
A good body lotion afterwards wouldn’t go astray either. (Don’t know about you, but I can’t survive without it anyway.)

Experiment627 · 16/02/2023 05:36

@PomRuns I shall keep my eye out for it - I LOVE lavender!

@greenspaces4peace an empty is an empty!

I am in NZ and we have just the most devastating damage all around us due to a Cyclone but we are fine and well and still have our home. So I have decided that I am going to use up the good stuff first because you just never know what is in the future.

Sorry to put a bit of a damper on the thread, but seeing homes around us completely wrecked has made me look at things a little differently.

PomRuns · 16/02/2023 09:23

@FiveShelties so awful, glad you are ok.

Experiment627 · 16/02/2023 09:53

@FiveShelties I am so pleased you are ok. I definitely agree with your mindset - I am done saving stuff for best too. Kiss the joy as it flies!

Another empty for me - Body Shop drops of light eye cream. Did absolutely nothing so I ended up using it as foot cream just to get rid of it. Moved onto a Soap and Glory one I got in a set. Tbh I think eye creams are such a scam and I need to stop allowing myself to be seduced by fancy packaging and false promises.

PomRuns · 16/02/2023 10:29

@Experiment627 the shower gel is £2.40 in Waitrose at the moment. There are 4 different fragrances.

MavisMcMinty · 16/02/2023 11:14

I have so many eye creams, but have never actively bought any, apart from a NIOD caffeine one a few years ago that did as little as any other. I give many of them away, but am currently using a Perricone eye serum and eye cream from my advent calendar just because they’re there.

That said, I do like 111SKIN’s eye masks, but have discovered they’re wasted at night because the effects are gone by morning.

Experiment627 · 16/02/2023 11:46

Thanks @PomRuns!!! I need to find me a Waitrose!!! Where I am there is only Little Waitrose.

I'm another that decants toner into old spray bottles, I find it much more refreshing as a spray. I also have a few that I use for zoflora mix, funny to hear we use the old bottles similarly!

Beauty Pie coconut blow dry spray - Liked this, I have fine hair and am always wary about trying new hair products as so many weigh my hair down or make it look greasy, but this didn't at all. Have repurchased already.

Arran pillow spray - I've never used a pillow spray but quite enjoyed this. I have another in my stash that I'll happily use.

Garnier nutrisse restoring conditioner - comes with my hair dye so I use regularly, thankfully I love it.

Noble summer rising bath & shower gel - meh. Nothing spectacular, nothing to complain about. Wouldn't buy.

Rituals Karma body scrub paste - I'm not a body scrub fan, but this one was OK. Didn't really notice the scent. Wouldn't buy.

Baylis & Harding sweet mandarin & grapefruit body butter - this was SO sweet when I opened it but it did grow on me. I found it to be more of a gel than a butter and not overly moisturising. Wouldn't buy.

@MavisMcMinty
I got a sample of the night cream from 111skin and I am enjoying using it. The texture glides beautifully and it smells nice. However I went to the website to see the retail price and it’s way out of my budget for skincare.

@Fraaahnces it is probably very wise to dilute it as I don’t see myself having that many baths, not because I don’t enjoy them but because their relaxing feeling its dampened by my dds going in and out to ask me questions.

MavisMcMinty · 16/02/2023 18:28

Oh yes, @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel - I only know about 111skin because of a special edition box LookFantastic did, and the occasional inclusion in other boxes. I could never afford it normally. Same with Avant - I get loads of their products in my beauty boxes and almost always really like them, but the price of the brand is insane.

Fraaahnces · 17/02/2023 00:37

Just finished a Dove Restoring Body Wash with Coconut and Almond Oils. Meh… Drying af, smelled like vanilla cupcakes as usual. My DH bought it when I asked him to repurchase some of the Original Source Coconut and She Butter one he bought “because it was cheap”. (True, but it’s in a tiny, wee bottle.) I actually don’t love coconut scents, but this smells like the Body Shop Brazil Nut Butter which I won’t use now they’re MLM. It’s also much less drying on my menopausal itchy skin.
Speaking of which, I have a new to me product which is a bloody godsend if anyone is in the market for something non-allergenic and healing. This brand Rovectin, was invented by a biochemist who was frustrated at his sister’s inability to find anything that was both soothing AND healing for her eczema. It’s all atopic, so nothing irritating - no scents, nothing itchy. My skin has never felt more silky and it’s CHEAP!
(The face wash is now my favourite too, btw). I’m going to order the oils next.

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I have a four year old and have not had an uninterrupted bath in yonks! We now have a deal that he leaves me alone for X minutes (negotiated for each bath), he sets a timer on Alexa, and then he comes in to join me. I know that I will miss these moments when we no longer have them but oh to have a solo long bath 🛁...

@Experiment627 and @PomRuns thank you so much for your good wishes.

Another empty - Nip+Fab Retinol Booster Extreme serum. I bought two of these half price in a Black Friday sale. Smells nice but after I've used the second I won't repurchase. Don't think it really does anything and it's not worth the price imo. I've told myself when I've used up all my retinol serums I'm not buying any more. I went back to them after a terrible experience with tret but I don't think they really make any difference (like eye cream).
