What a ball ache @Fraaahnces!!! Hope your stuff turns up soon.

I have another empty:

  • Catrice prime and fine keep me matt pore refining anti-shine base (blimey could the title being any longer???): actually got on with this, goes on easy and foundation does seem to last longer. I am on a mission to use up all my primers (I have about 5 on the go) and all my foundations (I think about 4 on the go) and concealers (another 3 or so)... really want to get some higher end stuff. Anyhoo I will see how long I last putting on a face of full make-up every day!

Have finished a mini size Bioeffect serum. It's too small to see results but it's very hydrating. I have another ready to use which is full size. Had first one in an advent calendar and second in a monthly box.
Full size 1
Mini 2

Panned a charlotte tilbury airbrush powder

Maison margiela replica by the fireplace. Wasn't sure at first, but the scent develops as it wears and has grown on me.

Had a bit of a change of plan re- ordering the BB cream. Fenty had an online sale. I bought the Fenty Body Sauce which I emptied several months ago. It’s in a ginormous tube (95ml) and I ordered one of them instead. It arrived today along with the Diamond Bomb “How Many Carats?” (Also Industrial-sized) which is replacing the Nars face palette I love but it’s now become an archaeological dig, and every other highlighter that I have ever purchased and decided were not what I was looking for. I use it as eyeshadow anyway, so I think it will last a good while. At 70% off for both products, worth the splurge.

5 empties this week, 4 of them full size! That takes me up to 25 for the year

bjork and berries Never Spring moisturiser- I am definitely buying this again, may even try the body wash. Great scent, but mor importantly a lovely rich moisturiser that never felt greasy, I'm already missing it (only half the bottle in the picture as DH threw the other half away before I got to take a picture!)
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm - a very reliable product.
Mural Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum - liked it, didn't give me a wow, but the skin around my eyes is looking good.
Lumene Sleeping Cream - not a fan, didn't sink in very well.
Bayliss and Harding Body Wash - a leftover present I was determined not to waste - not a fan, glad it has gone.

Some empties!

Vera be facial moisturising lotion. Boring but good for basic hydration.

Barbara sturm body cream mini. OMG this is the bomb. On my wish list but got about 30 others body lotions to use up. So I've got time to save I guess.

Need to kickstart my skincare routine

MidnightMeltdown · 29/01/2023 19:01

This weeks empties - 2 full sizes and 1 travel size:

6) E45 Moisturising Lotion - I like to use this when I'm just after something plain and unscented. It's non-sticky, absorbs easily, and lasts ages!

7) Iconic London Mascara - I have a few of these from various beauty boxes. It's not bad, but not stand out amazing either.

8) Medik8 hydr8 B5 intense - this is nice, but there are cheaper hyaluronic acids about. I wouldn't pay the full price for it.

Total for the year 8/130

Four empties! Mini Laneige peppermint lip sleeping mask. From previous 2022 Christmas holiday pack. Bloody marvellous stuff. Was my favourite of the pack. Saved it until last. (Gave the Ginger Snap one to my son because it was caramel not ginger. So disappointing.) Curel Makeup Removing Gel. Fabulous. Great for travel. (It’s an oil/balm cleanser in a tube.) I have used this on and off for years. Great for sensitive skin as a first cleanse and removes everything. Heimish All Clean Cleansing Balm (mandarin formula). Light, fresh citrus scent. Works like a dream. I have two more in my stockpile. (Freebies). SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule. (100% Madagascar Centella Extract Serum.) I had no idea how much my skin would love this! It’s glowy and soothing!!! This was a 30ml freebie. I have another one on the go and have ordered the 100ml full-size.

Up to 5 empties this year:

Living Proof perfect hair day - loved this dry shampoo it is quite pricey but will repurchase.

Sexy Mother Pucker lip gloss - got this in a gift set and decided to get rid after using it and it has made my lips really sore.

Molton brown heavenly ginger Lilly - love this scent and makes a great bubble bath - will repurchase when I get through others in my stash

Fraaahnces · 01/02/2023 03:07

More empties - I was given the Beauty of Joseon Hanbang Discovery Kit which has four wee bottles of serum in it. They're very pretty, and like a lot of Korean skincare, very gentle and designed to be effective if used consistently and for a long period. In other words, there is not enough of each serum to get a good enough feel for each of them. I ended up mixing them all and using them on my chest and arms. They're nice, but I want more powerful products. Mixed together, I got quite good results, but who has time for that???

It contains:
Calming Serum - with Green Tea and Panthenol - a combo I definitely like.
Revive Serum - With Ginseng and Snail Mucin. I understand the theory behind this, but it didn't really do anything for me.
Glow Serum - With Propolis and Niacinamide. Lovely, and gentle. The most immediately-effective serum of the four.
Deep Glow Serum - Rice and Alpha Arbutin - This was lovely too, but you would need to use this for a long time to get results,

Experiment627 · 01/02/2023 15:32

@loz12345 I have not used the Molton Brown heavenly gingerlily in years but adore it - may have to treat myself.

How do they extract the snail mucin one wonders @Fraaahnces 🤢

I have some empties to report:

  • Aldi Lacura apple shampoo and conditioner: actually really quite ok for 69p each!
  • Kind natured the revitalising kind foot cream: too thin and minty for my liking but I am seeing that daily foot cream application to my tootsies is getting rid of the dry patches.
  • Primark calming bath salts orange & basil: not enough scent for me although water definitely very soft and soothing with use

I'm on a roll this week!!!
BS face cream. A freebie and really lovely but far too £££
Farmacy cleansing balm! Love this and have another to replace
Briogeo hair mask. Not a fan of this as did nothing for my hair.
Medik8 retiinal. Nice but think I need a stronger one. It was free hence the low strength

Clarins rose restorative cream. Liked a lot- would purchase. perfect day cream.
Clarins instant smooth base- good but not as good as Dermalogica
superdrug hot cloth cleanser. Works well, don’t think I like the smell.

I’m zooming through empties this week! Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Cleansing Oil. 30ml size. Does the job. Very thin, silky oil. Absolutely free of fragrance. Not my favourite one ever. Probably too slippy to remove waterproof mascara and sunscreen thoroughly. Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Cleansing Foam. This stuff is bloody amazing! The only reason I’m finished is because my whole family was using this 30ml tube when we were on holidays for three weeks. You need less than a pea-sized amount to foam up into the most glorious, soft lather to do your entire face and neck. I now have the full-size one and am certain it will last more than a year. Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Soothing Cream. Again, everyone used this. It’s a glorious, honey-coloured gel cream that is hydrating and moisturizing but very balanced. Great for summer daytime looks and plays well with sunscreen and makeup.

CherryMargo · 02/02/2023 23:44

My January empties were:

  1. Medik8 Daily Refresh Balancing Toner (150 ml; £10) – it expired in September 2020. It was an unscented toner which was great at calming down my skin when it was irritated by other skincare products. Even though it is an acid toner, it didn’t dehydrate my skin like, say, Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic did, and was so gentle that I could use it several times a day. Paula's Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA is still my HG acid toner but this one is definitely the second best.

  2. Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Firming Serum (10 ml; GWP) – it expired in November 2022. It is a runny white serum with a very subtle grape water scent (I found it very artificial and unpleasant). The serum broke me out rather badly after each application, and I am not sure why (I read the ingredients’ list with a magnifying glass, and was left puzzled).

  3. Transformulas Ageless Beauty LipVolume (0.2 ml; GWP) – it expired in September 2017. It was a transparent lip gloss with an intense peppermint scent. The product description says you need to apply it three times a day for 30 days straight to see the noticeable lip-plumping result. A 0.2 ml sample was only enough for two days, and all I managed to experience is a bit of a sting and a decent moisturising effect. This product has since been upgraded to what now is called Transformulas LipVolume Original. The old version came in a 10-ml tube, the new one is only 3 ml, and the brand’s website swears that the new version doesn’t sting at all. At some point, once I have used up all of my lip balms and glosses, I will give this product a try, and see if the 30-day non-stop use will indeed make a change.

  4. No7 Glitter Eyeliner in Royal (3 ml; £8.75) – it expired in 2014 🤮 It was a gorgeous royal purple eyeliner which ended up buried in my makeup stash circa 2016. When I finally dug it out, I found out that it had completely dried out. I poured a few drops of Inglot Duraline into it but the eyeliner couldn’t be saved. I take comfort in the fact that I’ve managed to use up half of it (the tube was transparent so it was easy to see). I would re-purchase but it was discontinued several years ago.

5 & 6) Two samples of Yves Rocher Accord Chic Eau de Toilette (0.7 ml; GWP) – this fragrance was launched in 2016, and I believe it was discontinued a couple of years ago. Many reviewers said it was best in autumn so I waited till October 2022 to wear it (and before that these two samples sat in my stash for FIVE years! 🙈). The second sachet was used up in January this year.

Experiment627 · 03/02/2023 09:43

I have a few empties to report:

  • Bioderma Ultra-moisturising Atoderm lip balm: I much prefer a cream texture I think - this was like a lipstick balm and it was quite hard to get from stick to lips
  • Indie Lee purifying face wash: I got this in a set I bought of trial size products in Ulta. I actually liked this - has sort of a honey with mint smell... strange. But soft on skin.
  • J.One Jelly Pack 5ml: really have no idea how old this is... may actually be circa 2015... it is a make-up gripper. Feel like it worked well but I was not a fan of how it felt on skin. I feel fab to be working through all my primers though - only 2 more to go!

Happy Friday everyone!

empty no 6 : AB The Cream - from the Sephora advent - really did not want to like this because of the ridiculous price but my skin loved it. Won’t repurchase though because I am sure there are cheaper products that do a similar job.

Malin and Goetz advanced renewal moisturizer - quite watery, I prefer a thicker moisturiser. It did a good job on a dry patch of skin I had though. Wouldn't buy.

Baylis & Harding sweet mandarin and grapefruit body wash - a bit sickly sweet for me, wouldn't RP.

Paco Rabanne Olympea Solar EDP - really liked this and would consider buying if I didn't have plenty of perfume stashed.

12/104

7 empties this week.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo - this is a HG item for me, a quick blast on the front of my hair and my greasy hair will go 2 days without being washed.
Aveda Botanical Repair Masque Light - I like to do a conditioning treatment once a week on the end of my hair, this made absolutely no difference to my hair.
Oliver Bonas Rose & Honeysuckle Hand Cream - this was very pleasant to use.
Shiseido Uplifts Eye Mask - I've used this before and liked it, a nice treatment before a night out.
Eve Lom Cleansing Oil Capsules - I was very sceptical about these, I thought they were a bit gimmicky, but I ended up loving them. I think they may have convinced me I prefer cleansing oils to cleansing balms and these are currently top of my list when I need a new cleanser.
Clinique Dark Spot Corrector - didn't notice much difference with this.
Acompara Musc Eau de Parfum - quite masculine when you first put it on, but mellows and I really liked it - got quite a few compliments when wearing it.

That takes me to 32 empties for the year, mainly mini items, but it glfeels good to be getting through them.

Two empties from me this week:

9) Supergoop play SPF 50 - ok, but too thick and sticky for my liking. I prefer an SPF with a thinner consistency like a serum.

10) Body Shop British Rose Hand Cream - smells lovely, but not the most moisturising

Total for the year - 10/130

4 empties

L’occitane immortelle divine cream. I really like this as a day cream. It's light under make-up but still nourishing.

Ren Atlantic kelp hand lotion. I liked this a lot but the bottle is awful. It's really hard to get the last of it out.

No 7 retinol serum. I'm not convinced retinol does anything but it's a nice feeling serum.

Burren perfumery calendula and rose cleanser. Too small a sample really to know whether I like it. It did the job and removed my make-up. Smells gorgeous too.

Joining here

  1. Rituals sleep spray. Couldn’t barely smell it on the pillow. Wouldn’t buy again
  1. La mer cleanser. Really liked the way it left my skin after using it. But it’s too pricey and I’ve got loads of samples from Xmas calendars so doubt I’ll need one in a long time. Would only buy with discount
