Not sure what thread number we are up to here but ALL ABOARD if you get JOY from buying and trying beauty products!!!

We sometimes enable but we also share out thoughts, support one another and generally share our love of beauty consumerism!

Fair Trade Shower Gel and a Fair Trade Shampoo, both 40 ml and from a Novotel in USA about 6 years ago. I liked both of them. 3rd item was Living Proof Perfect hair dày 5 in 1 styling treatment which was really good and perfect for my hair after swimming.

That takes me to 9 items from target 96.

A disorderly start for me and no pic but:

  1. Neom mini body oil, it had lost it's scent but was moisturising.
  2. L.A. Bruket spruce handcream, gorgeous texture and would happily use again in a different fragrance. I dislike spruce as it reminds me of loo cleaner.
  3. REN rose Otto body oil. I love this, I will repurchase when I have run through my backlog of body oils. The scent is gorgeous, I love it on my skin, unfortunately it is quite leaky so doesn't travel well.
  4. Moon carnival mini perfume. Lovely but so expensive.
  5. Star skin eye mask gel patch things. Slippy, slimy and fiddly but my under eye area did look temporarily amazing.
Fancyateapottea · 06/02/2023 18:17

I have an empty!

Pai rose cleansing oil full size
I enjoyed using this, it was gentle and had a nice scent. However, it did struggle removing eye make-up so I prefer DHC’s cleansing oil.

Fraaahnces · 07/02/2023 03:33

I actually emptied a mascara before it went all manky! (I’ve been wearing it daily, sometimes twice if I’ve needed to re-do my lewk from day to night.) Can tell you that Clio Kill Lash Mascara is bulletproof - not just waterproof. It really DOES hold a curl, which is a first for me. I have stick straight lashes, and if I remember to curl them first, this makes me look like Bambi. I have both the “Long Curling” and the “Volume Curling.” It was the Long one I used up.” Luckily I bought them in BOGOF deals. 💪 Will use up the volume one next.

Awh @Fraaahnces Bambi 🦌💜
L'oreal have actually brought out a mascara called Bambi...

I suspect that one is only new to the UK. I tried that years ago. Better name would have been Panda.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 07/02/2023 21:11

I've finished a 50ml Pure cleanser which was a gwp. Not impressed with this.

Also percy and reed no oil oil, bloody love this stuff and would repurchase after I finish other hair products.

Experiment627 · 08/02/2023 10:23

@LivingDeadGirlUK tell me more about the Percy Reed hair oil that is not an oil - would it be good for oily roots/dry ends/frizz hair do you think?

I love this thread. I hope you don’t mind if I tag in: I have so many samples, etc I’m focused on working through this year, and I’ve done pretty well so far. This is about round 3 for me!

Photo: imgur.com/a/ThpJXFA

Pantene Miracle Rescue- I always have a bottle of this going: my dry hair loves this.

Banila Co Clean It Zero mini- I’ve known about and wanted to try this when you could only order it from Korea, but never got around to it until now. I love it, and this lasted a nice while. Very gentle on the skin, no tugging or eye irritation, but works a treat taking makeup off. I’m glad I got to try it so I found stock up during a sale.

Dermalogica Clean Start Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash & Sun Bum Daily Cleanser- Both great! I was using Sun Bum and loving how nourishing & moisturizing it was, but then I got a bad hormonal breakout and scrambled for the Dermalogica sample. I really liked it, but my skin started drying out and I still wanted the acne-fighting properties, so I started mixing it w/ the SB and it created the most perfect cleanser I’ve ever used. Sigh.

Paula’s Choice Resist 10% AHA- I always have PC BHA and AHA in my stash, they make such a difference.

Victoria Beckham & Augustinus Bader Power Serum- I got six of these samples free with purchase, and while I’ve been enjoying them as a solid serum, I’d never pay what they’re charging for it full price as I’ve had so many work as well at a fraction of the cost.

Sunday Riley Light Hearted SPF mini- I’m so spoiled by Japanese sunscreen. This was just thick, pink (??) and I just threw it in my bag so I’d have SPF on hand, but I don’t recommend it.

Paul & Joe mini Sparkling Foundation primer- From their adorable advent calendar. This was a fun gimmick to have sparkle during the holidays and the watery consistency made it easy to use quickly, but it was a bit drying and didn’t seem to do much for my skin.

Pat McGrath mini Lust Gloss in Dare to Bare- I bought a set of 3 of these and they started changing scent, so I just focused on using them up (I have one left!) Before it started turning, I really enjoy the consistency, but again, I can find something as nice for much cheaper. It was nice using a nude gloss that didn’t wash my pale skin out, though!

All the foil samples were a-ok. :)

Experiment627 · 08/02/2023 21:27

@LivingDeadGirlUK I see it is for volume... I am not really after volume - just less frizz without an oil slick... should I give it a whirl?

Welcome/welcome back @extrasushiplease !

I have the Sunday Riley spf and I am on day 2 and quite like it... but have nothing Japanese to compare it to.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 09/02/2023 12:50

Honestly give it a try, I didn't even realise it was for volume. Got it in a M&S beauty bag and I use it to smooth my hair and achieve a frizz free blow dry

Fraaahnces · 09/02/2023 20:06

One of the boxes of skincare arrived yesterday. I’m no longer trawling through my sachets for ACTUAL moisturiser. I’m proud of myself for not cracking and buying some here, as I ordered this stuff in NOVEMBER! Of course the bloody box came with four giant samples, but DD1 snaffled them. Still waiting on eye cream…

Experiment627 · 09/02/2023 20:12

I was in M&S earlier @LivingDeadGirlUK and they had it but all 3 boxes were empty! I will order online.

My goodness @Fraaahnces yoh have the patience of a saint!

@Experiment627 You wouldn’t say that if you saw the number of emails I have sent them or the number of times I have written “reviews” on their numerous fb/insta ads

greenspaces4peace · 10/02/2023 03:43

I’d like to join.
over time I’ve been gifted or purchased some products. Ideally I want to streamline to a very simple routine.
in the meantime I too have “stuff” to work through.
most recent empty: mango leaf cuticle oil…happy end to that will not be repurchasing, I didn’t like the grainy feel.
trying my best to waste and use up…a facial cleanser made by someone my dd knows…small batch home business extremely heavy rosemary scent/oil.

Experiment627 · 10/02/2023 04:51

Ah @Fraaahnces! Hope you get the rest of your packages soon!

Welcome @greenspaces4peace!

Garnier Ultimate Blends strengthening shampoo & Conditioner (acacia honey & beeswax) - this smells divine. Also seemed well suited to my hair. The conditioner is very thick, which I like. Only negative is I found the conditioner bottle very hard so it became a struggle to squeeze the conditioner at the end. Happy for the price point though, would RP.

Beauty Pie Featherlight SPF 50 sunscreen and primer - really liked this, was also pleasantly surprised by how long the bottle lasted. Have already repurchased but I got a different kind in my AC this year so will probably try it first.

Beauty Pie concealer - my favourite thing. Already have a couple more in the cupboard.

Beauty Pie Super Retinol eye cream - this was nice. Liked the pump bottle for an eyecream. Have RP'd but would also happily try a different one.

Hi everyone!

I made an account here for the sole purpose of being around like minded people that are looking to reduce their beauty hoard.

I am not sure how it is that I have sooo many products that I have self imposed a no buy ban so I can work through them.

Please tell me I am in the right thread.

I used to buy face palettes but I don’t buy them now. It is sad that I came to the realisation that I barely wear any make up so there is no point in spending money there. However, I have an obsession with lipstick, specifically red ones that I barely touch because they are not day appropriate in my mind. I go out very rarely so I don’t know how to start using them.

Anyway, my true love are perfumes. I collect them and I hoard them. I have over 450 without counting samples.

I want to simplify my beauty regime so that I can try high end products one at a time, but first I need to come to terms with what I already own.

In case nobody mentioned it, Boots have a recycling program where you can take your empties so that they can recycle them properly. Every 5 items they give you 500points for your advantage card IF you spend 10pounds in shopping in the day. I am saying this because every time you deposit them you have a visual reminder in one place of what you have already used up.

I do this so that I have positive feedback every time a finish up a product.

I will show you what I am currently wanting to use up.
Take care and thanks for reading me😊

Experiment627 · 11/02/2023 04:39

Welcome @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel ! You are definitely in the right place! Most of us on here have had our hoard creep up on us.
I am currently dong "full-face February" - so wearing a full face of make-up every day regardless of what I am doing that day - just to use up some of my stash which I am sure has gone off... I skipped yesterday as was not well, but will get back on it today. It does not matter if no one will see you red lipstick, or it is 5am, wear it! And get joy from the products you have before they dry up/get loaded with bacteria and cause you to break out!

@Experiment627 Thanks for the warm welcome.
Certainly it is something that I need to do as I used to have the mentality to save for a rainy day and not using things up because they were too good.
In my opinion as I have come to realise this is a matter of self-worthiness. Once I understood that I deserve to use things that are nice I removed a mental roadblock that didn’t allow me to enjoy things.

@Hartlebury I am going to line up red lipstick in my next thing to wear.

@tinx Hi! It is a life-long collection. I started when I was little and it has been a passion of mine since.
I have many favorites that change over the years but if I had to choose only one it would be Valentino Donna Edp. This was the original that came out in 2017. The cap is gold and the lettering too. A masterpiece in my honest opinion. However,I am not very fond of the new flankers they release almost yearly.

Experiment627 · 11/02/2023 16:18

@tinx blimey! Are those all your empties? What a haul!

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel BTW do you have any of these in your stash of perfumes? Have you thought of selling to me
