Interesting about the love for the Aurelia cleanser - I wasn’t keen, didn't love the fragrance. The night oil and night cream otoh are literally HG.

MidnightMeltdown · 12/10/2022 16:17

I bought this in the Cult Beauty sale recently. Not sure whether or not it's the same one 🤔, but its a good discount so thought I'd give it a try. Not opened yet as using up a couple of others first

Powering through in preparation for advent calendar opening 💪

100) Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes Mascara - this came in last years Space NK advent calendar. It's a terrible mascara. It looks good when you first put it on, but not long after, it starts to slide off your lashes, so that after a couple of hours you look like you aren't wearing any mascara. It also smudges easily, so guaranteed panda eyes by the end of the day. This product is only suitable for women who want to wear their mascara for 5 minutes while they take a instagram shot.

101) Virtue Restorative Treatment Mask - smells horrible but makes hair very nice and silky. I was considering repurchasing - until I saw the price. £65 for 150ml! 😲. Christophe Robin melting mask is as good as this and is £28 for 200ml.

102) Philip Kingsley Instant Beach - quite liked this. I'm not a fan of polka straight hair, so if I go overboard with the straighteners, this adds a bit of wave back in.

103) Emma Hardie Pink Clay Mark - clay masks are my favourite type of mask and this is a very nice one.

Total for the year 103/125

@MidnightMeltdown I’ve not been impressed by any Charlotte tilbury product so far.

MidnightMeltdown · 13/10/2022 16:30

@PomRuns I was disappointed given all the hype!

I haven't tried many CT products before. I like the Hollywood flawless filter.

I agree. I think they are well marketed but don't rate them for the price.

PomRuns · 14/10/2022 20:51

Also powering through for advent.

Garnier Intensive 7 day lotion. The most effective lotion and always seems to be on offer. I'd be devastated if it as discontinued <must buy 20 back up bottles>

QMS lip line corrector. I used as a serum. Was fine. Not worth the price tag imo.

Origins GinZing eye cream. Love this brightens and de puffs,

Molton Brown Orange and Bergamot. Lovely fragranced shower gel.

MZ Skin eye masks. last one in my stash. Not keen, does not do much,

Ren youth serum was just a 5ml sample so not idea if good or not,

125/140
15 samples

I will check out the garnier 7 day. Looking for a HG body cream or oil and it's 3.49 in superdrug at the moment. I hope its not too scented.

PomRuns · 14/10/2022 22:19

There are different types - the aloe vera doesn't have a strong fragrance. I think all ok apart from one - maybe the coconut.

Zeeza · 14/10/2022 22:20

Fabulous. Thank you.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 14/10/2022 22:44

Ladies and Gentlepeople, I have more empties.

Alpha H liquid gold - purchased after rave reviews, but I just didn’t get it. Nowt wrong with it, I just have no idea what it did/ was supposed to do.

Level hand cream - it's hand cream. It’s hard to get excited about it.

Benefit Boiing careless concealer - I am still mourning the loss of erase paste. This wasn’t a patch on it and I wouldn’t bother repurchasing. Cute packaging though.

Fleecy · 15/10/2022 09:20

I bought the Garnier coconut one - it is strong and it lingers! I didn't realise there were others.

Zeeza · 15/10/2022 18:04

I went with the garnier mango oil one. We shall see lols.

I know, what is it meant to do

Fraaahnces · 19/10/2022 14:30

I have started writing my bragging post of empties and been derailed by DH about five times. If he does it again, I’m going to give up or divorce him.
Here goes nothing…
Rightio…
2x Daiso Puff and Sponge Detergents as per usual. Will always be in rotation. It’s fab and it’s cheap as dirt.
150ml refill sachet of Pharmact Deep Cleansing Oil. (Light-textured, gently pear scented and does the job. One of three I bought in a haul of Korean and Japanese stuff from Stylevana. Also super-cheap. I would buy again if nothing else came along that was cheaper or easier to get.)
1L bottle of T&G purple shampoo. Been using it for years but am beginning to suspect it makes my scalp itchy. Might try something else this time. 600ml bottles of Shiseido Damage Care Shampoo and Conditioner - bloody lovely. Will buy again if I can find it. Lasts for ages, smells divine, doesn’t weigh my stupidly fine hair down and seems to stretch time between washes out. Winning! Several bottles of anti-bac hand washing foam in several flavours. Also shower gel (including one horrible one that smelled like old ladies on public transport and dried my skin terribly, so very pleased that’s done.)
ALSO… Binned two different Canmake cream bronzers that were lovely but ancient. I went to use them today for the first time now the weather is somewhat warmer. They looked a bit sweaty, so I suspect they were manky. Same with an even more ancient Nudestix one which had Greige spots that I suspect were mould on it. I never loved it anyway. I washed my makeup brushes today and a Flower Beauty blush brush I’ve used daily for at least four years decided to shed every one of it’s hairs in one fell swoop and it was tossed too. Can’t complain. It’s been great. I have other brushes that have never been touched, so wont repurchase. Finished up three mini Fenty lip glosses. Love. Won’t replace because I simply have too many lip products. I will whittle those down before I consider buying any more. (Definitely think Fenty and Pat McG are my fave coloured gloss though) Meanwhile, it’s confession time… I did do something about the bronzer situation, as I was totally out. Just want to say that my purchase also counts as eyes and face. Plus it’s an anti-depressant.

@PomRuns

agreed, I’ve tried quite a lot, and some are ok but not what I expected the magic cream brings me out in spots and every concealer I’ve tried has been trash making my under eyes look dry the only products I have enjoyed is a few of the lipsticks but they are nothing special at all
the worst of CT for me was the bronzer it looks green and dull on my complexion

hyped up rubbish imo

Experiment627 · 20/10/2022 01:44

@Fraaahnces the bronzer is a thing of beauty 💜

I would highly recommend writing headings in a planner / spreadsheet - this really helped me. At one point I had 25 face creams - now I have 4 and that reduction was within the past year.
it made it so much easier not to buy things plus I added up all the headings. It was over 150… now, less than 40…

throw out anything iffy smelling. Donate anything you won’t use.
lots of luck !

Thank you @PomRuns - I have taken your advice and made a list, a very, very long list of everything I have.

I have 255 items, from one litre bottles of shower gel to tiny lip balms and obviously over two hundred items in between. Honestly, I had no idea just how much stuff I had.

I did have the No 7 Advent Calendar in my shopping cart, but I think I have almost every item already in the stash. I think you may have just saved me 140GPB Grin

Frostine · 20/10/2022 16:46

@FiveShelties

I also put myself on the wait list for the No.7 advent calendar . But have cast a look around the bathroom and a full shelf in the utility and decided to bow out .
No advents for me !

PomRuns · 20/10/2022 22:35

@FiveShelties I reckon you can power through that stash in a year (with the odd addition).
I’ve 30 ish unopened products now despite buying 4x Liberty sets and the M&S summer box so I think I’ll have used over 150 products in a year. It feels really freeing - I know that’s nuts.

@Fraaahnces bronzer is gorgeous. Glad new job is going well.

FiveShelties · 21/10/2022 08:24

@PomRuns I am sure there will be the odd addition. I have November in UK and I think the odd thing may slip into the suitcase for my return. Of course, I may need a little cheering up as Lancashire is not known for its sunny Novembers.

The Advent Calendars are just so tempting as we do not have them in NZ and perfume/cosmetics are just so cheap in UK so obviously it would be false economy not to buy one or two (or 30) things.😁

supadupapupascupa · 21/10/2022 08:34

I've just ordered the cult beauty advent. Ffs. I don't need it!! That's 2 calendars adding to the mess. FOMO plus 20% off.

PomRuns · 21/10/2022 08:51

@supadupapupascupa I’m tenored to look at CB. Enjoy it !
@FiveShelties are you’re a Kiwi, I have loads of Kiwi friends and can’t wait to visit NZ again 😊You definitely need a few treats to take back. You do have that lovely manuka bee stuff though.

PomRuns · 21/10/2022 08:51

*ah not are !
