I've been butchered

I asked the hairdresser for a pixie cut. Showed her a photo and everything.

She's practically shaved my head. I didn't realise it was happening as she came to my home and I foolishly didn't set up a mirror so I could see what was going on. She's cut my hair once before. Never again. I have about half an inch all over. Half a fucking inch. Yes, I paid her - just to get her out of my house before I did something irreversible and possibly criminal.

I realise I just have to live with it and allow it to grow out. I've got a few cotton scarves that I will now wear round my head for the next few months.

Fuckssake. I'm not even sure why I'm posting, except to have someone understand why I'm upset. OH says "it'll grow back" and "it's not that bad"....I just want to wail..

At least you didn't pay a fortune. It's summer hair always grows quicker and yes I also think in a couple of weeks time it'll be fine. Shes gone a bit scissor crazy. Had that happen just before lockdown so actually it did me a favour at the time but I was upset but I pay nearly £60.
Yes I wouldn't dye it and get some gel or wax and restyle it a bit. I'm rubbish with headscarves myself and would end up looking like a fortune teller! There's a few things online showing how to rock a scarf with short hair.
We've all been through a bad hair cut with or without photos. I took one the last time I went. Came out with nothing like it and had to tidy some uneven bits up myself.

It was jaw length, an outgrown layered "shag". I haven't had a pixie for a few years and fancied an update. Silly me.

Been there (not with pixie style but way too short for what I wanted). Couldn't believe how bad I felt, sleeplessness & tears. Went to another salon to restyle it and then just had to get on with it. Still feel resentful and also upset when I see photos from subsequent occasions. No advice but complete sympathy from me.

I hope I don’t look like a bloke!

I must have had at least four ill advised/ poorly done Pixie cuts over my life, it's a hazard of really liking shorter hair. Hell, I'll probably have another couple before I'm done Grin

The first one was the worst- sitting in the hairdressers, aged 17, looking at myself in the mirror, mortified as the older woman in the next chair said 'oh that's nice love, it looks just like... oh who am I thinking of... oh yes, that young Stephen Hendry!'

It did to be fair.

I’m a hairstylist…OH MY GOD! She gave you a short back and sides that’s literally a mans cut NOT a pixie 🤯 WTF was she thinking?! No excuse for this at all, so sorry OP but rest assured it will grow out fast 🙏

As a stylist I can’t see how you wouldn’t sorry!

Ok. It's short but I think it'll grow so quickly especially jn the sun. Friend is wearing really funky scarves right now with her new short "do" and it looks fab. Ties at one side. Funky prints. Or the headband with a knot looks good. And red lipstick and good brows. You'll look great now and fabulous in a fortnight

Its clearly not what you wanted but I think it looks fine.

I'm sure it's technically a good cut, it's very neatly done, but it's not what I asked for. If I'd asked for super short hair, I'd be delighted. Ah well, there's nothing I can do but accept it and move on. For the pp who has clipped sides and back, I bet you look gorgeous. It's just not me...

OP, there's nothing worse than coming away from the hairdresser (or her leaving yours) and HATING what she's done so I do sympathise but I am also PMSL at your posts and username. I love your sense of humour 🤣🤣🤣

Who's your man Shirley?

Just kidding, you look great and have an enviable jawline.

Women are not going to look like blokes just because they have short hair.

I'm comfort eating my way through a bag of party rings whilst trying to tie a scarf round my head without one of the cats launching herself at the ends. It's party rings or gin....

To be fair, I only have it clippered because it grows so bloody fast. I’m like one of those extruders in the Play Doh Barber Shop.

You'd think a stylist would have some imagine...

Do these look like blokes to you?

I’ve had a pixie cut for years and sometimes I’ve been scalped. My Dad always used to say tome, ‘only a week between a bad and a good haircut!’

if it’s any help, Pixie Chick on YouTube has a video of how to tie a scarf in a few different ways. Here’s a link (hopefully):

Short hair is a pain, isn't it? Mine really needs done every 6 weeks and I cannot afford that but it being longer than short makes me want to rip my face off. I used to have waist length hair but the thought of that now makes my skin crawl.
You never know, once I'm less shocked I may just buzz the whole lot off. I shave OHs head every couple of weeks, I have the kit. Sinead o Connor looked amazing....

It’s very liberating. My hair used to rule my life. Now I don’t even blow dry it.
