I accidentally wore double denim, then because I was rushing, I considered it and went "Nah, CBA". Yes, I am old enough to know better. No, still not bothered. There may be a special circle of Hell reserved for me (7.5a?) but I still can't bring myself to care very much. Is this is a bonus in exchange for everything heading south, rapidly? getting to a certain age? Will I start wearing purple soon, and moaning about the price of butter? Tell me your fashion things, that you're not bothered about, please. TIA.

@AppleBottomRats well exactly. A similar thread declared such an outfit to be an abomination. Several posters said so.

No one could explain why except for faint mumblings about 'Trinny and Suzanna'

Ahh - I’m in my 20s, I’d never heard of Trinny and Suzanna until I came on here!

TemperTrap · 25/07/2022 17:12

I don't wear black trousers at all because 'black trousers and a nice top' became the chubby uniform in the 00s. I hate it!

HairyMcLarie · 25/07/2022 15:50

I wore black trousers and a coloured top today.

This means I am going to hell and everyone has sniggered behind my back.

Holy shit! This is my standard work outfit.

Hang on, you're joking aren't you? 😳

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/07/2022 17:17

Boy leg swimsuits all the way - means the trims can be less frequent too... Makes notes.... @londonmummy1966 @MarshaMelrose interesting...you mean, it might not be as bad as I thought? Must try harder. Loving the triple denim and the red shoe/white shoe combo!

I wear boot cut jeans. Shoot me!

Boot cut jeans are something I will never give up, even if I have to make my own eventually!

I love my Uggs too.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/07/2022 17:19

@70isaLimitNotaTarget yes, the jeggings! @BitOutOfPractice no, but only becuause I might be too hot. (half joking). Grin

Too many people to tag, but yes, I own a few pairs of black trousers, different sizes, and often wear with a coloured top!

I'm wearing skinny jeans and ballet flats.

People have shunned me.

FarFarFarAndAway · 25/07/2022 17:22

I thought you'd gone out in a pashmina or something...

FarFarFarAndAway · 25/07/2022 17:23

Boot cut jeans are trendy! You see, if you wait long enough, things come around again...although probably not with Mum Boots....

LunaLoveFood · 25/07/2022 17:24

I wear crocs, out of choice.

TemperTrap · 25/07/2022 17:25

I hate boot cut jeans so much. I don't care if they're fashionable, they won't look it on me, they'll look like I could never get rid of my old next boot cuts from the last time.

ShirleyJackson · 25/07/2022 17:28

I’m wearing a flying squirrel suit, circa MN 2017

It’s so cool and comfortable, I don’t give a toss.

MammaWeasel · 25/07/2022 17:31

To be fair, the price of butter IS shocking misses point of thread

WTF else are you supposed to wear with black trousers?? Just black??

Titterofwit · 25/07/2022 17:34

My standard issue office wear is black trousers and coloured top. I would say about 75% of female colleagues wear similar. No way am I going all out with dresses/tights/ proper shoes 😮

I am not a fan of purple though. Only because I once caught sight of the local pensioners social club lining up for a Xmas Market day trip bus. Every single one of the women were in shades of purple.

I think you've missed the point of the thread

Maireas · 25/07/2022 17:40

I often wear scarves, and not for warmth.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 25/07/2022 17:41

I’m clearly beyond redemption or anything else; I’m wearing elasticated high waisted chinos with an oversized shirt (in my defence I am well over 60, too old to give a damn and need to be comfortable for gardening).

MystikSpiral · 25/07/2022 17:42

It is true that older women wear purple, all shades of purple from pinky purple to burgundy. Particularly coats. It's the new beige.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 25/07/2022 17:43

My problem is I probably wore fashion like bootcut jeans first time round, when they were called flares…..

Maireas · 25/07/2022 17:43

I wear Skechers.

FKATondelayo · 25/07/2022 17:53

I'm 48 and quite fond of a visible bra. Not natural colours or transparent straps. If I wear a top or dress that a bra can be seen through it will be bright pink or neon lime. I grew up with Madonna as my style role model and I will be mutton dressed as lamb until I die.

This older woman doesn't!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/07/2022 18:01

I have a purple cardi, I wear in the house. Previous reference to purple in the OP refers to the poem, "When I am old, I shall wear purple", but it's too late, as butter is already at a ludicrous price, so I'm already incensed about that!
