This is edition 33 (!) of the long running perfumista threads.

Posted earlier about wearing Chanel Gardenia today. This is usually my “treat” fragrance. It’s the end of the day now and I’m not sure what happened but I no longer like the smell??? It’s almost… I’m hesitant to say it, but sickly? What’s going on?

I’ve always tended towards sweet smells, but recently have become obsessed with Halfeti which I used to hate.

I'm not sure how old you are but our sense of smell (and taste) really change during peri and post menopause.

Some years ago (pre peri menopause) I really didn't like 4160tuesdays shazam! Or captured By Candlelight both of which I now LOVE ❤️

I've enjoyed wearing CK reveal today. Sadly, I appear to have dislocated my finger earlier and I popped it back but it's a bit sore now 🙃

I’m 36 so there must be something else going on…

SOTD was Chloe. Nice, but too pretty and girly for me these postmenopausal days.

I am 50 in a few weeks and peri menopausal (do we need to add that to the Venn diagram??) and my taste in perfume has certainly changed ....or perhaps become more defined/refined?

I cannot abide anything too floral (I'm very funny about rose scents) or anything aquatic/ozonic. I have an almost visceral reaction to YSL Paris 🤢

I used to be able to deal with coconut in small doses but not anymore.
I'm convinced it's our body chemistry altering (lack of oestrogen I guess) that makes previously loved scents suddenly a bit yucky.

Plans for tomorrow have altered as am now taking mum for a hospital appointment. Sigh. Not how I wanted to spend my morning.

I shall wear something adequately soothing 🙂

SOTD Chanel 19 for a checkup and scale and polish - all good and shiny clean choppers.

Sotd my pp dupe of ACDD which arrived earlier.
Hmmm. It's VERY screechy when first sprayed and I was a bit dismayed 😬 but now it's drying down I can see the similarities with the original.
The dupe of mmm witl is spot on imo.

Ouch! @Chevyimpala67 Hoping the sore finger is better today. I have this recurring nightmare that I will dislocate my shoulder, then, like on TV, I'll be given a bit of mucky cloth to bite down on while it is painfully jerked back in place.

@Mrcpy I think that trying lots of different perfumes can alter taste too. You sort of have a broader reference point, so your perspective and opinions on fragrances shifts a little. Things you thought were solidly one thing become more nuanced and you notice facets you didn't pick up on before. Hoping that makes sense - I'm not explaining myself very well.

SOTN yesterday was Ambre Orient

SoTD Clarins Eau Dynamisante - my absolute fail safe option after my (beautifully packaged) sample of Maison Margiela After the Rain Stops arrived and smells like the classic ‘cheap perfume’ on me - and wallopingly strong with it. Bah! And humbug!

Very comforting and smoother and nicer the original imo

It's rather sore today tbh but no brusing, slightly swollen but only slightly.

Mum gave me the wrong dept at the hospital so we were there longer than we needed and she had to wait again for the mobility buggy. Sigh.

That makes a lot of sense!

The pp Whispers in the Library sounds good @Chevyimpala67 I keep forgetting to add it to my order, will do next time as I love comforting things and it looks perfect for autumn.
Shame about the pp ACDD. Maybe it'll settle? I find the pp dupes seem to smell better after a couple of weeks, more rounded somehow.

SOTD was Chanel Pour Monsieur - a wonderfully lemony chypre.

Although, in saying that, some of the pp dupes are just not that close. I tried their copy of Obsession and it smelled like pesto! Ditto their copy of MFK Grand Soir - a lovely, but much too expensive, vanilla amber. Pure antiseptic. No amount of settling could fix that.

Oh god, yes. Their version of obsession is awful, as is their sun moon stars ☹️ (smelt like a glade plug in!)

Their ACDD is really good once it's dried down but gosh the opening is HARSH and the real stuff is really smooth. Maybe too much pettigrain?

I think you'll really like the mmm witl dupe...I think it's spot on.

Today I’ve got Chanel Chance on my left wrist and Chanel No 5 on my right. I can’t decide which I like more!

My bottle of Chanel No 5 is about 15 years old so the smell isn’t quite as strong.

SOTD yesterday was 4160 Tuesdays Dancing With Strangers. Crazy walloping pong (frankly) on first spray and then lipsticky, vintage make-up bag heaven. Couldn't stop sniffing myself.

SOTD today is Candace Becker Le Musc. I'm finding it a bit 'meh' to be honest but am waiting for the dry down.

Going on holiday today and am allowing myself one bottle to take with me. Can't decide!
I have a cheapo Next Summer Sun which has the beach vibe. Or maybe Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. First world problems and all that ...

SOTD is D&G The Only One. I used to wear it everyday but as my collection has grown (full of samples) it's been on the back burner for a couple of months. I forgot how much I love it.

Enjoy your holiday! @ThreeImaginaryBoys I love 4160Ts Dancing with Strangers! It just makes me smile - such a happy smell - and reminds me of my great grandmother, who smelled constantly of powder, perfume and moisturiser. A few of the 4160Ts do give off a strange smell on first spray, but thankfully that quickly dissipates.

I think the Tauers are probably really hard to copy @Chevyimpala67 They're so unique! Some of the pp dupes are among my favourite perfumes though - I really do think generally they are remarkably close (sometimes even to the vintage versions, especially their Opium). 😊

SOYesterdayN was Kayali Vanilla 28 (from pp). I've been so tired lately I just spritz on my nighttime smell, then flop on the sofa til bed. 😴

Well, I forgot to put a sotd on 😮 so it was my emergency handbag perfume today - avon lbd 🙂

You could be right re: the Tauers @FestivelyScent they are quite complex.
