Hello fragrant friends,

This is edition 33 (!) of the long running perfumista threads.

Newbies most definitely welcome. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Thanks @FestivelyScent, I'm trying to visualise poolside heaven to take my mind off potential Gatwick hell in the small hours of tomorrow morning!

I've taken Dior Homme Intense with me and a couple of small perfume oils. I'm sure you lovely perfumistas know this but the arabianperfumeoil site offers some brilliant dupes. The Mon Guerlain dupe is fab.

Reaching for the wine. Am holidaying with my wonderful in-laws and MIL is a little tense ... :)

Have a happy holiday! I’ll also be at Gatwick tomorrow morning and hope the delays won’t be too bad as I’ll have 2 little ones. I plan on wandering around duty free spraying duty free testers on myself for hours, while the kids go to the lounge with OH.

I’ve taken Calvin Klein euphoria with me decanted into a perfume pod.

Just back from a weekend in London, where I managed to sample a few perfumes. Not very successfully though. Finally got to try Baccarat Rouge - I did like it but couldn't quite see what all the fuss is about. I only tried it on a smelling strip though, so perhaps I need to give it a go on skin. Also tried Gabrielle and Gabrielle Essence, both of which were perfectly nice but did seem anything particularly special. Also tried some of the Estee Lauder/Aerin scents, which again were perfectly nice but not worth the price, in my view.

I also went in the beauty hall in Liberty which was full of lovely things I wanted to try, but DD insisted on leaving saying she was choking from the smell in there so I didn't get a chance to try anything!

Have spent the morning cleaning and washing as I went to a lovely NT place with dh yesterday :)
I'm VERY hot 🔥 🥵
Sotd s&b white peaches 🍑

Deathraystare · 07/08/2022 15:52

Bloody hot on the bus on the way to work this afternoon! Did not help that when I did eventually get a seat, under the seat was blowing extremely hot air! My legs were burning! I managed to move and the lady sitting next to me moved over as well!

SOTD: Dune by Dior. I did not manage to pay for it with Boots points (bought it today!) but it did mean that everything else I bought (£40 odd quid) I got for 'free'!

Deathraystare · 07/08/2022 18:07

@ThreeImaginaryBoys

You are obviously a fellow Cure fan, yes???

I had a similar experience with my DD in Liberty; it’s so frustrating 😂

@ThreeImaginaryBoys

You have now forced me to buy a few cure cds as my cassettes have worn out!

FestivelyScent · 07/08/2022 21:02

Hoping Gatwick wasn't too stressful @ThreeImaginaryBoys and @Mrcpy Enjoy your holidays! 🏖️

I quite like the aroma and atmosphere of perfume halls - that perfume-y smell spilling everywhere, and all those glittery bottles. Grin But not for too long, I agree, it can be very overwhelming and I tend to go nose blind quite quickly.

SOTD has been the lovely Coty Lavender Cologne my mum gave me. Had the most awful migraine hangover and fog today, so have had a long nap and an almost equally long, hot shower. The lavender is wonderfully soothing

SOTN is Miss Dior Originale.

Alienbigcat45 · 07/08/2022 23:09

SOTN Yardley lavender body spray

SOTD started out with a YSL libre tester but it had faded after a few hours so I covered myself with Creed Wind flowers from a perfume counter. It's ridiculously overpriced so there's no way I'd buy it.

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 08/08/2022 10:51

So I was naughty at the airport and bought a bottle of Guerlain Insolence in all its parma violet glory. Well, it was 4am and I needed perking up! That was yesterday's SOTD (as well as a tester spray of Narciso Poudrée which I was a bit disappointed by).

SOTD is an Arabian oil dupe of Flowerbomb while I'm by the pool. Will be Dior Homme Intense tonight (the one 'proper' scent I allowed myself to bring!)

Chevyimpala67 · 08/08/2022 11:12

Sotd s&b white peaches 🍑

Cantonet · 08/08/2022 11:41

I've just ordered the Jacques Fath sample set too. I've just been reading @Missbattleaxe's blog. I love the sound of the lilac perfumes, as i'm really missing a substitute for Yves Rocher Lilas Mauve perfume. I would love to try the new Welsh perfumes in her blog too but the sample set is very steep at ~ £25.00 for 3×2 ml from a completely unknown perfumery.

Sotd is Cristalle which thankfully smells great, even though I feel sick & headachey.
CorneliaStreet · 08/08/2022 13:24

SOTD is Jo Loves Pomelo. The opening blast of citrus is lovely but that disappears really quickly and I find the base a bit masculine for me - think there must be a lot of vetiver in there. Fine on a hot day like today though.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/08/2022 14:00

SOTD a sample of Lush Kerbside Violet. I think I like it but I have been sneezing a lot since putting it on.

FestivelyScent · 08/08/2022 20:10

SOTD was Samsara, but I couldn't smell it today at all.

About to get in the shower and douse myself in something cool...

Maybe avon lbd the dress

FestivelyScent · 08/08/2022 23:04

SOTN is Shalimar.

I opted for bath and body works snowy peach Berry shower gel and then s&b white peaches 🍑 😋

Chevyimpala67 · 09/08/2022 07:56

Sotd ck contradiction

Mrcpy · 09/08/2022 09:21

SOTD: CK euphoria again, because it’s all I have with me on holiday. The twist today is that I’ve layered it with a traditional Chinese herbal insect repellent, and it smells gorgeous! Floral with a minty/medicinal edge 😂

CorneliaStreet · 09/08/2022 09:59

SOTD Next Summer Sun. I may be sitting at my desk, but I smell like I'm on a sun lounger in the Med Grin

FestivelyScent · 09/08/2022 20:11

SOTD is Vetiver Bourbon - it smells like soapy, light green powder. Great for the heat.
