Nice, unusual fragrances. Used to be a lot cheaper than they are now. M&S stock them.

@beachcitygirl was it referred to in relation to a perfume? On Mumsnet in general, s & b means the Style and Beauty topic in my mind.

Almond perfume box has arrived and I have tried one at random. It reminds me of something - I can't remember the name but I know you guys will know! It's a very old perfume (19th century? Maybe a French name? Might have imagined that bit) that smells like the top of a cabbage patch dolls head (for those who are my age )...I remember it was surprisingly cheap too.

I know Cabbage Patch Baby is an obscure reference/note Fragrantica is isn't helping. Over to you guys...@MissBattleaxe I'm sure you will know!

I used to love the smell of cabbage patch dolls. I have the almond box and still can't help. I'm so terrible with detecting notes. Which sample was it?

Oh almost forgot. SOTD is Woman in Gold By Kilian. I got it in a travel set and it's lovely. Cant quite bring myself to pay for a full bottle as it's so expensive.

Speaking of Almond today I blind bought Monotheme Almond in tkmaxx for £10. They also had loads of LT Piver in too, wish tk did testers.

I rotate my perfumes around too. I'd have no space for anything but perfume in my cupboard (that sounds weirdly amazing) if I didn't. Fully bringing out my AW scents from my first list towards the end of September is one of my favourite things to do. Bringing out my Christmassy fragrances in November is even better.

@TwoFloofyFragrantCats I was a lurker on these threads before I joined and remember you! When I'm tired, or ill and don't fancy reading my actual books, I often reread the old threads, they are so comforting and full of knowledge.
I have the pp dupes of Both Kayali Vanilla 28 and Killian Angel's Share and they are both great imo (though I've never smelled the originals).
Pp Kayali Vanilla opens with brief florals and settles into sweet and smoky vanilla with a hint of wood.
PP Angel's Share is richly woody stewed apples and cinnamon on me. It almost smells like cooked apples and woody incense, and that is how I describe it to people. It is less reminiscent of apple pie filling than Hermes Ambre Narguile, if you've ever smelled that.

The Escentual boxes are still looking tempting.

No SOTD as I have an awful migraine.

@FestivelyScent The next box themes are listed on the link below in case there are others that are more your style. I love almond and vanilla so I'm excited for next month. I've enjoyed trying notes I normally wouldn't be drawn to but I think the spice box will be a step too far and I'll probably skip it. I think I can be persuaded to love musk or oud but not spice.

Kayali Vanilla lovers (or haters!)

My mini has arrived and the juice is SO dark... like a purply brown. It's beige on the box... but some on fragrantica said it was darker... how dark is normal?!

Wearing Miller Harris Tangerine Vert & it's deliciously bitter, which I love.
I managed to purchase some used bottles of Fleur du matin & tangerine vert on eBay the other day.

Thank you @chilliesandspices 😊 I absolutely love vanilla so may try next months box, it looks great value. And maybe the spices one too - spices are among my most favourite notes. I agree it seems a fab way to try things without preconceptions - I definitely want to broaden my perfumed horizons. Feeling lucky that two of my favourite notes are coming up next!

@Cantonet Congratulations to your DS and DD. A levels can be so stressful. Wishing your DS the best of luck for his GCSEs next week.

No SOTD because, well, migraine. I had the longest nap, though - most of the afternoon.

SOTN is pp YSL Caftan, a small sample from ages ago. Pfft. It went on rather nicely - smoky, vanilla-amber, but has now given me another migraine, just as I was getting rid of the first. 😡

Vanilla and spices you say???? 😍

@Chevyimpala67 That's what I thought - my ears actually pricked up. Vanilla is the Escentual blind trial note for Sept and spices is for Oct. I've become quite excited for them! 😊

Thanks @Chevyimpala67 that does look the same as mine. How strange that they show it so much lighter on the box... I actually am not sure how I feel about it, I was hoping for more smoky, woody vanilla. This is v fruity on me.
