Hello fragrant friends,

Newbies most definitely welcome. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Feu de bois is one of my classics. If you have the chance, give the Narguile a sniff if you ever see it in a shop. It's allegedly honey and tobacco but it smells like honey and 5,000 expensive things to me.

Oooohhhhhhh

Hello all, sorry for being so quiet. I have been away on holiday. While I was away I used Tardes by Carner every day. It's my signature summer scent. I actually finished the bottle so am planning a face to face visit to Bloom to buy a new one as I have only ever bought online from them before.

Sotd is my sample of Vanille and Tabac Noir from Cochine. I love this discovery set. They are all so heady and tropical. I suspect a fb of one of them will make it onto my Christmas list.

I was very disappointed by the duty free perfume options at the airports I was in but I did manage to get a bottle of Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia on the way out, and Coco Noir on the way back. Both about £10 cheaper than the usual price.

Chevyimpala67 · 17/08/2022 20:30

I'm not sure I can justify any more perfume! 🤣🤣

It's my 50th in a few weeks and I have NO idea what I want 🙃

Mrcpy · 17/08/2022 21:07

Sounds like you’ve got enough perfume @Chevyimpala67 😂 How about a beautiful atomiser (or several) so that you can keep spritzing on the go? I’ve got this one on my wish list: www.penhaligons.com/uk/en/product/admiral-blue-travel-atomiser-000000000065169349

FestivelyScent · 17/08/2022 22:03

Wow, everyone’s got such large collections 😍

I only have a handful of bottles:
Chanel No 5 - my top favourite
Chanel Gardenia
Chanel Chance
Calvin Klein Euphoria
Armani She

Plus a few samples:
Penhaligon’s halfeti
Penhaligon’s bluebell
Chanel No 22 (which is used up but I’m distraughtly holding onto the bottle)

I don’t get to the shops often, and when I occasionally do, I spray literally everything and get confused about what I like. But I’ve ordered the almond set from Escentual this month which will be a nice way to get to know some new scents.

I'd recommend a 4160tuesdays discovery set too 😀

Guilty 🙂😬😍

FestivelyScent · 17/08/2022 23:13

Definitely guilty @Chevyimpala67 😁😂 You've given me so many good recommendations!

@ThreeImaginaryBoys The only dupe site I know is Perfume Parlour. It's been quite popular on here over the years. They sell perfume oils, perfume sprays, and scented body and home products. I think they are generally really very good - most of their things are spot on and sometimes even better than the reformulated originals. However, some of their dupes are not so close. It's just a case of trying and seeing, I think. They are very cheap. And addictive! 😁

SOTD was liberal spritzings of discontinued Boots Lavender Water (RIP) decanted from its huge splash bottle into a spray.

SOTN is Shalimar.

Thank you @FestivelyScent!

And thanks to all of you listing your scents :)

I have several samples heading my way so once they have arrived I will compile my autumn top ten!

I’ve only tried 2 things from PP and sadly they don’t do Jo Malone well at all. I could tolerate the Peony and Blush Suede, but the Pomegranate Noir is quite unpleasant and I’ve had to pour it away - it’s not even nice enough to scent the hallway. They were cheaper than Jo Malone but still more expensive than good high street perfumes, e.g. I’d rather buy a good original from M&S or Zara than a PP dupe again 😔 Having said that, they do get good reviews on Mumsnet so maybe I got unlucky.

Chevyimpala67 · 18/08/2022 07:56

Ime Pp dupes are mostly great but I've had a couple of awful ones (obsession springs to mind...)

Foodbank today. sotd pp mmm whispers in the Library

PeloAddict · 18/08/2022 10:24

SOTD clean reserve skin (one of my faves)

Cantonet · 18/08/2022 10:49

My new bottle of Dioressence today.
It's not as green as I thought it would be. More ambery than anything. In fact Dior classify it as an amber. I'm not sure whether it's for me or I will grow to love it.
We've survived results day.
DS into his first choice & DD brilliant As results.

I remember it well from last year! (Wibble)

I have a soft spot for Rook @musicmum75 - it was after reading a friend's descriptions of their samples that I decided it might be fun to try a few more current fragrances and see about updating my (small) collection a bit. I felt a bit conflicted about thurible (loved the incense/ cloves opening, not sure about the base) but undergrowth is on my want list.

FB I have at the mo:
D&G Light Blue Intense
Molecule 01
Aromatics Elixir EdT
Fragonard Santal Cardamome
half an old bottle of Angel (for nostalgia's sake)

Among the other samples, I had a free sample of YSL Libre which I love. OH also really liked it and suggested he could buy me a bottle for Xmas. Waiting on some BDK samples at the mo.

Currently on the want list:
Gucci Bloom (apparently I do like tuberose (!) )

SOTD: aromatics elixir

Chevyimpala67 · 18/08/2022 13:09

My Estee lauder desert Eden sample has arrived.

Hmmm. It's a bit screechy on first spray..
Hope it calms down!

Chevyimpala67 · 18/08/2022 13:24

Nope.
It's a scrubber.
