Closer looks at what Catherine's wearing today... (we are watching the final on telly and this was the first thing I thought of - you lot have got me royal style obsessed!)

It's all fine, really. She looks beautifully groomed, the makeup is great, the dress hangs nicely on her - although it is very 80s with those ruches and ruffly bits - and will be nice and cool in the heat. But it's dull, as a PP said, and we've seen a lot of dots and a lot of 80s frocks recently. Just a bit underwhelming. But maybe that was her plan? She went bold for yesterday's women's final, maybe today she wants to be 'Kate invisible in uniform' again?

Or maybe I'm overthinking it and she really just likes wearing the same 2-3 silhouettes all the time, like me 😛

Isn't there a dress code for the Royal Box at Wimbledon? Maybe there are no exceptions, even for children.

I reckon Granny should crack on and change the rules for kids then LOL, seems so unnecessary (although obviously anyone there should be smart). You wouldn't want him rocking up in trackies and a t-shirt, but there are plenty of appropriate ways for children to look smart without that.

(Sorry - Great-Granny!)

100problems · 10/07/2022 14:33

I have a horrible feeling Catherine is wearing a polka dot version of that yellow monstrosity she left the Caribbean in.

KillingMeDeftly · 10/07/2022 15:15

Yes, I agree @100problems

LadyVictoriaSponge · 10/07/2022 15:22

I love Kate’s dress today not many can wear that peplum style but her figure is perfect for it, and for the first time in a long time I love her shoes, nice to see her not trussed up in a high neck as well. Top marks from me.

Gooseysgirl · 10/07/2022 15:23

It's not the exact same but very similar.. god I had forgotten about that yellow frock horror 😱

All England Club rules! Nowt to do with Gan Gan. There is a dress code, applicable to all. Although I believe they have some sort of climate control.

Not really keen on today’s Wimbledon outfit for Kate, far too 80s for me (and I really don’t like peplums). I agree on Zara’s outfit, I like Zara and when something works for her it really works, but definitely not the high neck/short dress combo. I also feel for poor George, there’s plenty of ways he could look smart on Centre Court and still keep cool in this weather.

Maireas · 10/07/2022 15:40

I agree, @TeddyTed. I don't think many of us on here like the frill and peplum look, she does seem to go for polka dots quite a lot.

Gooseysgirl · 10/07/2022 16:04

It would be a bit hypocritical of me to diss the polka dots given that I'm in a polka dot sundress myself today, but yes there have been quite a few polka dots numbers of late 😄

dolphinsarentcommon · 10/07/2022 16:06

I'm indifferent to the dress. Probably that it's navy and white has saved it.. so classic.

Still don't like the shoes.

Shame George couldn't wear something a little less formal. Even his dad looks less so.

Maireas · 10/07/2022 16:07

I quite like polka dots and favour them myself, but I don't like the ruffles or the peplum, or puff sleeves.

Just checking in, thank you for the new thread.
I'm also not keen on Kate's outfit today, and again it's one of those outfits that make me cross that she's wasting her amazing figure and could look so much better than she does in this.....it's very 80s, and she could do much better!

paradyning · 10/07/2022 16:43

It looks like she has white sling backs on

KillingMeDeftly · 10/07/2022 16:48

It looks like the same sling backs she wore earlier this week. I liked them!

Maireas · 10/07/2022 17:18

Kate's hair looking very auburn in the sunshine!

KillingMeDeftly · 10/07/2022 17:18

Her hair looks great today, so glossy.

paradyning · 10/07/2022 17:20

It's her correspondence Shoes

paradyning · 10/07/2022 17:21

I quite like those ones

SeaRabbit · 10/07/2022 17:51

I surprise myself as I don't normally like frilly things and I hated the yellow version, but I think she looks lovely today. She really suits the navy IMHO.

Poor little George- the only boy in the whole country in 2022 to wear a jacket and tie, not to a wedding or to school.

Maireas · 10/07/2022 17:53

The dark blue is nice, and her hair looks fabulous.

OP posts:
JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 10/07/2022 18:38

I love a polka dot but Kate's dress is not nice. The peplum and ruffles make it all very 80s Fergie, just missing a big bow in the opposite colour way in her hair for full authenticity.

As for Zara words fail me. She's got a great figure but she doesn't dress it very well. Often in things that are too high necked and a bit tight. Eugenie is similar often in too high cut necklines for her boobs. The pair of them could do with a nice v-neck.

Yes, it’s definitely a suits and ties dress code for men in the Royal Box at Wimbledon. And, I don’t intend to be mean to George, but complying to rigid dress codes is totally his life, so he may as well get used to it early…😂

(Don’t hate me, I liked the polka-dot peplum dress!)

SeaRabbit · 10/07/2022 19:44

I couldn't believe how much Zara's dress cost, given how badly it fitted. From close to, it has lovely details, but is so unflattering.
