I have had long hair for years and years. I've just booked a hair appointment for the first time in about three years and I fancy something different.

I am really fat. Really really overweight. So I feel like short hair makes my face look rounder/fatter BUT with my long thin hair I also feel like I look like a bit of a slob as well. My hair is thin and the ends are terrible. I really wish I could go into a hairdressers and tell them to do what they want - something that will make me look amazing but they all stare blankly and say 'it's up to you'. So I get two inches off and go about my day. I want something different this time!

I've just been trying dresses on so my daughter took a pic of me - I don't generally have any pics of me so this is probably the best I can do.

I feel like a long bob would look nice on you, ie cut your hair to just past your collarbone. I think either a blunt cut or layers would look good in that style too.

I'm late to this thread but I love the new haircut, it looks polished and intentional, and I love the dress in your OP as well; maybe you could look for some similar dresses/ tops to give you an everyday boost as well, as that style is so flattering on you.
