If you could bring anything back in to fashion, what would it be?

I'd love it if headscarves came back, like the Queen wears. My late mum had beautiful ones. No bad hair days and so much more elegant than a hat

You?

@KimikosNightmare what's there to not understand? Confused I was saying everything is in fashion, bar nude court shoes. I would not bring them back. My personal taste. I'm 20 years younger than you so I can how our taste would differ.

I really couldn't care less whether you think nude shoes are "in fashion" or not. You seem very hide bound by what's in fashion or not in fashion.

I think it's bizarre that something as ugly as platform soles is magically acceptable if it's "in fashion" but isn't when it's no longer in fashion.

I checked Trustpilot but I'm not sure I trust Trustpilot either !

@KimikosNightmare and I don't care if you wear them, but I do think they're naff! I wouldn't wear them. Each to their own and all that. Enjoy your shoes.

I loved the indie look of the mid 2000s popularised by Alexa Chung, lily allen etc

Those were my prime clubbing years. Banquet by block party takes me straight back there!

This is called the twee aesthetic, and it is making a come back

Everydaydayisaschoolday · 20/05/2022 08:34

Perms. I had big Farah Fawcett hair back in the day and would love to go back to that.

An adolescence where an occasional smudge of mascara & or eyeliner sufficed and nobody gave a shit if your legs were pale? I get so sad seeing my local secondary school girls walk to school with fake tans and "done" hair and faces.

Knowing my 12 year old son is probably able to roll out of bed an hour later each morning to attend the same school.

I don't know if this halcyon time existed. I'm in my 60s so was a teenager in the 70s. I was constantly teased/taunted for having legs that were on the blue side of white! I tried the fake tans that existed back then which turned me a very streaky and unpleasant smelling orange.

I totally agree with you.
The pressure on young girls is immense.

FunnyTalks I think the 90s was a lot like this. The fashions that I recall were grunge followed by vintage/retro (cord flares and adidas gazelles). Or an All Saints type style. The most “done” it got was the Rachel from Friends look. All quite natural looks compared with today’s Insta/Kardashian look.

On the other hand, there was a LOT of pressure to be thin - these were the Kate Moss years.

70s hair is most definitely on trend right now! Have a look on Pinterest. Go for it. I'm rocking a 70s shag cut and I love it!

CockSpadget · 20/05/2022 11:04

@minipie the "heroin chic" of the 90s was horrendous wasn't it. Hope it never makes a comeback.

minipie · 20/05/2022 11:08

Yep, swings and roundabouts. Not a lot of makeup, but was fashionable to look anorexic… Sad

Now we have a fashion for large bums and thighs, much healthier in theory, but then there are people getting them implanted!!

Hopefully one day “your natural shape” will be in fashion…

As another poster suggested, I was thinking of the 90s. I was in London though and I appreciate there's may have been a lot less pressure to tan than elsewhere in the country as we were allowed coats & tights!!
