If you could bring anything back in to fashion, what would it be?

I'd love it if headscarves came back, like the Queen wears. My late mum had beautiful ones. No bad hair days and so much more elegant than a hat

You?

Yep low rise combats and jeans for me as well, I’ve been watching re runs of My Family and I love all the stuff Janey wears, oh and I would bring back short hair while I’m at it.

I cut the legs off an old pair of flared combats today to wear in the garden. Tragic

I really liked all the boho stuff from early 2000s.

Furrbabymama87 · 18/05/2022 19:58

Boot cut jeans. So much more flattering than skinny jeans if you're not skinny.

Boood · 18/05/2022 20:00

Cloaks. Proper full-length hooded cloaks for swooshing around dramatically in.

DrBrennerFan · 18/05/2022 20:02

I wear it anyway the acid look with jeans and jackets 80s style.

3beesinmybonnet · 18/05/2022 20:03

@IdisagreeMrHochhauser
Yes to flares!!! I spent most of my teens in flared jeans and cheesecloth tops and shirts.
I always wanted a pair of velvet loons, preferably purple with blue triangular inserts. I would make it the law that everyone had to wear them one day a month so I didn't feel too ridiculous. I would also be 6 ft tall, size 10 and not greyhaired.

Honestly, something like these.

If you could bring anything back in to fashion, what would it be?
TammyOne · 18/05/2022 20:06

I dug out my 90s flared jeans the other day… sadly I could only get them halfway up my thighs!

The patterns?

Boot cut jeans. I absolutely loved them but sadly they look so dated now. Also lower slung jeans/combats with a vest top and chunky boots or trainers. Very All Saints but I really liked the look. Another one for Rara skirts too - ultra flattering.

They are all back in fashion now but you would have to prise my high rise out of my cold dead hands.

Newestname002 · 18/05/2022 20:10

1940's/1950's tailored women's clothing, and the block heeled high-instep shoes. 🌹

Agreed I won’t wear flares boot cut at all. Straight now rather than skinny but still high rise. I’d love rara. skirts back in fashion I’d wear black leggings with neon ones.

LaMarschallin · 18/05/2022 20:20

Another vote for cloaks. I fancy myself wafting around like the woman in the Scottish Widows advert (but would probably frighten children who'd think I was a Dementor).
Also hats for every day use. There was a bit of a resurgence of them in the 80s; brilliant if you hadn't washed your hair.
And blue kohl. I reckon if I keep using it, it'll come back again.
(That goes completely against my usual rule that if something was all the rage in a particular decade, don't wear it if you were too.)

ventingventing123 · 18/05/2022 20:22

More well cut tailored clothing and jackets that do up from the breast line rather than half way down the waist. Terrible idea if you have big boobs!

TenRedThings · 18/05/2022 20:22

I'd love to dress like they did in the 18th century with ridiculous hooped skirts that you could stash stuff under and big crazy wigs. I imagine swooshing around the supermarket with an air of splendid, tattered opulence !

ventingventing123 · 18/05/2022 20:23

All natural fibres and no polyester! No more fast fashion.

ventingventing123 · 18/05/2022 20:24

Models that stand up straight and don't slouch in stupid poses. Yes Zara I'm looking at you!

FourChimneys · 18/05/2022 20:25

Another vote for cloaks. There is a woman in my town who always looks very elegant and cultured, and she always wears a cloak in the winter.

LaMarschallin · 18/05/2022 20:26

Corsets. Proper ones that you'd get your friend to lace you into tightly enough that your eyes almost pop out and your liver has to live between your lungs.
Paired with a bustle.
My only chance of ever having an hourglass figure.

Zazdar · 18/05/2022 20:28

Low rise trousers. The sort with a two inch zip.

VioletCharlotte · 18/05/2022 20:33

Cloaks like you see people wearing in old books and films. I'd love a cloak that covered me from head to foot, with a hood and pockets!

From more recent times, hipster jeans like we used to wear in the early 00's. I loathe high waists.

onlythreenow · 18/05/2022 20:40

Can't remember what year it was but we were all wearing smock tops and jeans. It was so easy.

That's what I wore in the 70s - I agree, so easy.

BigFatLiar · 18/05/2022 20:40

Me bedsocks & legwarmers.
OH thinks full skirts and petticoats should be brought back (he has a thing about Sandy in Grease)
