The sun’s shining over Essex and I’ve been awake since stupid o’clock (after my Labrador did something unspeakable in the kitchen).

The mind has turned to the possibility that soon the summer frocks ( with trainers, sandals, DM’s) will make an appearance. And I want more frocks.

I picked these up in March. Orange one is lovely, blue is yet to be worn as for high summer.

If you’ve found a gem this year, please show and tell 🙂

The Nobody’s Child Alexa dress works well if you are petite - I have a couple, I’m 5’1” and a size 6/8. It’s not too long and no puffy sleeves or frilly tiers!

@popularinthe80s i have a different version of the same problem in that my bleached pixie clashes with too many frills so I need to keep shapes simple and avoid frills. I think that’s why Cos appeals to me a lot. Not sure how that works out for more petite people though as I’m 5’6.
@Judystilldreamsofhorses Was it the gold chains and orange lips comment? Because to me that look is ❤️

Cos appeals to me to but it doesn't like my body as it's either enormous on me or they don't go up to my size I'm usually a 16 but the 18 wouldn't even go over my hips when I tried trousers last time!

There's always something with clothes wouldn't it be great if everyone did a multitude of sizes!

PomegranateSeed · 23/05/2022 17:52

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I think your look sounds great. I‘ve been inspired to buy the dress and love orange lipsticks so ignore the wankers. There’s nothing wrong with liking different things but no need to be mean.

popularinthe80s · 23/05/2022 17:54

Everyone who has messaged regarding dresses for petite women - I really appreciate your help and will have a sniff around the websites. I wrote a much more detailed reply/appreciation and the bloody MN website broke and ate my reply.

User1234567891011121314 · 23/05/2022 18:55

@PestorPeston oh dear because of that lovely helpful link I just purchased the new look petite trench coat last one remaining! I was looking for one tho tbf. There are some absolutely gorgeous dresses on here. I have a drawer full o maxi dresses I don't wear due to the swampage. Some with tags on!

SmiledWtherisingsun · 23/05/2022 19:03

@Sponge19 don't be so bitchy.

Thank you so much for kind comments - especially posters who I have been on outfit threads or follow me on instagram. 💗 I really don’t expect everyone to love my style, but it was a bit of a shock to read that shitty post!

I think MN has a bad rep for being a mean site, but always think on S&B as being a very kind, supportive board.

I love the dresses you bought @Judystilldreamsofhorses. What's your insta?

itbemay · 23/05/2022 19:42

I've got these two and adore them! I got the lighter one last year and just got the blue one

Matches the sunglasses, fabulously 😉

PestorPeston · 23/05/2022 19:56

Talking of an orange lip. We are due lipstick to become VERY fashionable.

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2022 20:06

I feel a bit weird wearing lipstick now after wearing masks!

Sickoffamilydrama · 23/05/2022 20:11

They are nice @itbemay although the photos on the website of the blue one annoyed me a just want to see the front, back and maybe sides of the dress not someone sat down in it!

Is it lose fitting at the waist or fitted?

SunshineCake · 23/05/2022 20:23

I need a dress for a family Golden wedding in July but where I normally buy from has either shut or there isn't a dressing room. I would like a long dress, with sleeves, round or v neck okay but no boob flashing. Has anyone got any ideas please as I have zero clue. Thank you.

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2022 20:31

@SunshineCake www.next.co.uk/g643690s1/u17215#u17215
It's v neck but very modest

SunshineCake · 23/05/2022 20:37

That is nice but I don't want to spend £150. Thank you though as has given me ideas.

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2022 20:42

There's some Phase Eight stuff in the Next sale but may not be summery enough.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/05/2022 20:45

I want to point out that I did not say “an orange lip” 😂. I never stopped lipstick even with masks (and we had them for a LONG time in Scotland). I just got really good at knowing which formulas worked at not smudging.

There are such nice dresses on this thread, and lovely helpful links. 😎

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2022 20:48

Oh I know you didn't @Judystilldreamsofhorses but @Sponge19 did! Grin

PestorPeston · 23/05/2022 21:12

FFS @Judystilldreamsofhorses you are the expert on hem lengths, lipstick and economics. How bad is it?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/05/2022 21:15

Ooft I am not sure economics would be in my repertoire, @PestorPeston - have I missed something here?

TheLightYears · 24/05/2022 15:44

My Boden dresses arrived.
Kept one .
Its a beautiful dress, cotton lawn and not 100% what I was looking for but will be perfect for an upcoming family members significant bithday lunch.
Still looking for a shirt dress thats a bit less dressy
The other was the same style but far too busy for me.

JanisMoplin · 24/05/2022 16:03

I bought this very simple Uniqlo dress. I appreciate it is not for everyone but I don't suit frills and puff sleeves. Plan to jazz it up with bright sandals. www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-uniqlo-u-airism-cotton-short-sleeved-longline-flare-dress-447085COL58SMA004000.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwhLKUBhDiARIsAMaTLnHd-dk7h3j6nQAXicnPSn7WEjf1KGs-WczeiI_df7KmSEv0nKANc2oaAsG8EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

LadyEloise1 · 24/05/2022 18:46

@JanisMoplin I love that Uniqlo dress but would like it in some pastel shades too.
I saw THE most beautiful blue colour on a dress in Cos today but it was voluminous and made me look twice my not insubstantial size so sadly couldn't buy it.
Sorry I can't do links.
But if you are tall and thin or even just tall and suit pale blue it's gorgeous.
