Duchess of Cornwall footwear is apparently Fairfax and favor boots and sole bliss for shoes. She has bunions

justasking111 · 04/05/2022 22:18

Iron flat hair I recall reading is ageing and should be avoided. A soft bounce is preferable for long hair

KillingMeDeftly · 04/05/2022 22:20

I don't think Kate looks particularly aged...

AmberLynn1536 · 04/05/2022 23:14

LadyEloise10 · 04/05/2022 21:17

@AmberLynn1536
Kate looks fabulous there. I agree re her hair.
What year was that ?

I think the picture was from 2014 on the tour of Australia.

SenecaFallsRedux · 05/05/2022 00:24

I watched a video of Kate in that green dress presenting the award. The ironed hair looks better with her moving around, but the dress is worse. Those long ties hanging off the sleeves look really silly every time she moves her arms.

Speaking of spilling the tea (sort of), I have been reading Tina Brown's latest book The Palace Papers. It seems to be very well researched and sourced. And she has quite a gift for an amusing turn of phrase. She includes some commentary on fashion occasionally as well.

SeaRabbit · 05/05/2022 03:53

I've just started the Tina Brown book - it is very entertaining and tells me a few things I didn't know.

Slightly off-topic because not about current royals but here, I hope, is a link to a blog I follow, which shows a great variety of beautiful images, in this case, miscellaneous portraits of females including a number of former queens with some beautiful jewellery:

godsandfoolishgrandeur.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2022-04-29T07:00:00-07:00&max-results=10

And a corking final image...

SeaRabbit · 05/05/2022 03:58

OK as I feared, my link was not to the specific post, but to the week's posts. Scroll down to get to 17 April. It's the very last of the 3 in that week.

chesterelly1 · 05/05/2022 05:24

My theory on Kate's hair is she's never got it straight as she likes so just embraced the bounce but has had a Brazilian blow dry or similar for the Caribbean & thought "wow game changer" & is just having a bit of fun ringing the changes. Maybe it'll be shoes next

Alwayscheerful · 05/05/2022 07:31

Another shot of the green dress.

I love how she strides out, gives her a real sense of purpose

Maireas · 05/05/2022 07:37

What's happened to her bag? She's put it down somewhere! Panic!

OP posts:
Serenster · 05/05/2022 08:45

One has assistants for that, Maireas! (Would that we all did, as I travel into work with my backpack and handbag… 😄). Seriously though, I think she carries it when she arrives to give her something to do with her hands, and then can hand it off to chat to people.

I like this dress - I love the colour, the textured fabric and the flared skirt. I also love the elbow ties. I do wish she’d paired it with different accessories - burnet orange, dusty pink or dark brown would have looked wonderful, but she’s never going to change.

RomainingCalm · 05/05/2022 09:50

I didn't like the first photo of the green dress, I thought it was knitted and hung really badly. <<books eye appointment>>.

Looks much better in the other pictures although I agree about the matching accessories - burnt orange would be have been a great option.

SenecaFallsRedux · 05/05/2022 11:34

I've noticed, that unlike other royal women, Princess Anne often carries a shoulder bag, perhaps to dispense with the necessity of a handbag wrangler.

Maireas · 05/05/2022 16:26

Indeed, Seneca, it's far more practical than a wee clutch. Also, she probably bought two in 1983 that are still functional.

OP posts:
gluenotsoup · 05/05/2022 17:09

@Maireas , you have probably hit the nail on the head there 😂, I also imagine she just doesn’t want someone carrying a bag for her when she can do it perfectly well herself.
I really like the green dress! And the arm 🎀

CliffsofMohair · 05/05/2022 18:38

SenecaFallsRedux · 02/05/2022 15:34

I think Gustav's sister, Princess Nathalie, had her wedding reception there.

Lovely tiara there I likes me a button tiara

Justkeeppedaling · 05/05/2022 19:10

How does any woman walk in heels like that? 😮🤔

MotherofPearl · 05/05/2022 19:45

A few NMR shots.

Daisy, Fred and CPM hosted a dinner for the Indian PM. Daisy looks great in the navy lace I think.

I'm saddened to see that Leti has taken inspiration from Kate in the white stilettos department. She normally looks her best in red but the white shoes and bag ruin this for me.

Maireas · 05/05/2022 20:00

I really like Leti's dress, I think it's a repeat, but goodness me, I agree with you about the shoes, MoP! Also the clutch. Yikes. Navy blue or grey perhaps?
Daisy looks nice in the dark lace dress. I'm not sure about CPM's cape thing, I know they're on trend but I think they look a bit awkward.

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 05/05/2022 20:42

I like the cape but not sure lilac is Mary's colour. Fred in full military regalia is...not displeasing. Daisy looks quite glam in the lace.

KillingMeDeftly · 05/05/2022 20:44

And here's CPM bringing out the crisp white shirt for a Mother's Day event. The reason she looks a bit confused is because she accepted the invitation thinking they said Mary's Day.

frugalkitty · 05/05/2022 20:45

Evening all, thanks for the new thread!

We've definitely discussed palaces before as I've claimed Osbourne House and remember a conversation about having a booze cruise lined up when you lot come to visit. I may have claimed the whole island come to think of it! (I'd quite like a couple of the old Russian palaces but perhaps not just at the moment, eh?)

Maireas · 05/05/2022 20:46

😂😂naughty!
I like the shirt and skirt, though.

OP posts:
MotherofPearl · 05/05/2022 20:50

Deftly Grin

I actually really love that skirt and white shirt of CPM's.
