Prince Michael looks very frail and doddery now, doesn't he? I don't think he's even 80 yet. Was Princess Alexandra or any of her family there?

KillingMeDeftly · 03/06/2022 21:41

I didn't spot Edo either. Perhaps he was on baby duty!

SeaRabbit · 03/06/2022 21:42

I loved Meghan's hat (so much more chic than Kate's slices-with-flowers) and the idea of the coat, but can't get over how badly it fits - not just in the sleeves but in the body too, where it's lumpy and the waist also seem to be too high. It's Dior, folks... while Kate's dress fitted perfectly and was pretty and flattering.

( Emilia Wickstead has obviously learned how to finish clothes properly after that awful beige coat thing Kate wore to the Thistle ceremony a while ago with the lumpy waistband whatkatewore.com/2012/07/05/its-bespoke-emilia-wickstead-for-order-of-the-thistle/)

This made me laugh 😂

Princess Alexandra @KillingMeDeftly - and a great brooch!

Princess Alexandra as elegant as ever but I wonder why Prince Michael's children were invited and hers (presumably) weren't? No Duchess of Kent either but I think she has completely withdrawn from public life now.

Edo was there, I saw him next to Beatrice.

Oh! In that case maybe Fergie was babysitting 🤣

I thought James Ogilvie was there? I’m sure I spotted him at one point.

I would presume they were invited. They’ve been on the balcony recently and have been at other big events so if they weren’t there then they perhaps had other commitments?

JustLyra · 03/06/2022 23:46

*Ogilvy

NiqueNique · 04/06/2022 00:11

@JustLyra yes James Ogilvy was there.

Delurking to ask if anyone else watched the programme on the Crown Jewels on BBC1 this evening? So. Many. Sparkles! As well as the bling-fest, it was actually really interesting, talking about the symbolism and history of the various jewels. Worth a watch on catch-up if you didn't see it.

^^
Not sure if the frocks have been linked yet

Maireas · 04/06/2022 07:09

That's an interesting article, @mackthepony good details about the designers.

What a ridiculous headline though - "no attention-grabbing by Meghan". Was the Mail expecting her to show up in thigh-high boots and nipple tassels? Let's face it, they would've loved it if she had!

I suspected Louise was wearing Ghost and I was right!

DisforDarkChocolate · 04/06/2022 08:40

I thought that too @KillingMeDeftly . Meghan doesn't do attention grabbing clothes.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 04/06/2022 08:41

I wanted to know who was the designer of Carrie's dress, but I suspect it was rented.

Meghan looked lovely, even though the trench was a bit tight. I also wondered what was the dress under it. It did look very much a christening outfit though, not in keeping with the high intensity jewel colours everybody else was wearing.

She does though. She wears everything well, but the Dior straightjacket dress was very much attention focused.

The bright green she wore in the Westminster Abbey, with the cape and the green hat was designed for maximum attention.

She is very aware of her clothing choices.

I did and it was fascinating. What we need now is a documentary ( or a whole series! 🤩) on the Queens personal jewellery. 😊

Hilarious moment when the Queen was being interviewed about one of the crowns.

Interviewer (fawningly) says could we possibly turn the crown round for her majesty. HM just hoicks it round

dolphinsarentcommon · 04/06/2022 08:52

@LittleBearPad yes! While casually commenting that 'these are the chips' while pointing to the ice cube sized diamonds on her shoulder.

LittleBearPad · 04/06/2022 08:53

@dolphinsarentcommon yup 😆

peridito · 04/06/2022 09:03

Am I the only person who felt that Louise's outfit at St Pauls was a miss ? For me the material in the photos (maybe quite different in video) looked too flimsy and drapey .Combined with her hair it looked messy .And such sensible, clunky shoes .

I thought she looked fantastic at the trooping - adored the jacket and beautiful rosy dress .Hat suited her .

peridito · 04/06/2022 09:11

And like others I think a different neckline on Eugenie and Beatrice would be so much more flattering .I wonder if they feel high necklines are more decorus ?

Also agree re Meghan's coat - it did rather look as though she had too much material in the clothes she wore underneath ,and the belt did make her look boxy She seemed anxious about the collar ,tweaking it .Maybe nerves ?

dolphinsarentcommon · 04/06/2022 09:11

I think Louise is in a really difficult position.. too old for girlie dresses, way too young for anything like the other royal females. I imagine she has some strong views herself which may also need some compromise!

I thought she looked good. Agree the shoes and hair could have been better but she's learning in very difficult circumstances.
