Sophie and Louise had a tough few weeks when she was born, and Edward was out of the UK?

She posted something on Instagram thanking HMQ for her extraordinary service etc. Fergie knows which side her bread is buttered!

Indeed. (side eye)

They both nearly died. The placenta abrupted. That was following a hospitalisation the previous year when Sophie had an ectopic pregnancy.

Harry came to see his grandmother I'd avoid a reception to spend time with her. It's very precious time now.

100problems · 03/06/2022 18:13

Meghan's coat, which is beautiful, either didn't fit or whatever she had underneath bulked it out across the back and shoulders too much. She really doesn't suit belted coats.

I thought Sophie looked fabulous.

Loved everything about Kate's outfit.

Unusually I also thought Eugenie looked terrific in the tangerine.

gluenotsoup · 03/06/2022 18:15

Yes, I hadn’t thought that might be why, I was thinking of time with wider family (maybe he knows what side his bread is buttered too…. But I’ll leave it there and go back to the frocks 😂😂)

gluenotsoup · 03/06/2022 18:19

I liked the tangerine too, it was refreshing (ha!)
There is speculation, admittedly in the Dm that Eug has had a tattoo, it doesn’t look like one to me though, or at least not one you would choose, but I don’t know what else it could be. Her hair looked nice, as did Kate and Zara’s.

Oh yeah that’s definitely a tattoo! How rebellious

evilharpy · 03/06/2022 18:27

That definitely looks like a tattoo! Eug's hair looks lovely.

Now I’ve looked at all the outfits, it seems that Meg has dressed with the Anne / Camilla generation with the coat and gloves, rather than with the younger royals who were all in summer dresses. Louise Wessex looked fantastic- a great outfit for a teen in a formal occasion.
saadiya khan looked insultingly scruffy.

Maireas · 03/06/2022 18:54

Anne went straight from the service up to Edinburgh to do a couple of engagements. She's at the zoo!

The gloves really do show the generational difference - Princess Alexandra & Princess Michael were wearing gloves. Anne & Camilla always carrying them. Then some of the younger ones carry them for “big” events.

Maireas · 03/06/2022 19:31

Meghan was carrying gloves and I noticed was wearing them at the end. They matched the outfit.

some really lovely outfits. I simply love Sarah Chatto's look - always beautiful. I don't often like Zara's style but those were smashing colours she wore. ditto bea and eugenie. And louise windsor looked so pretty - best look I've seen her wear.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/06/2022 19:59

I liked the back of Eugenie's dress.

Chewbecca · 03/06/2022 20:02

Louise is a level year, same as my DS. I have suggested she would be a great GF for him if he could land at same Uni 😻

Good thinking! Let's make it work and we can all come to the wedding! Grin

Excellent shout Chewbacca. Should a backup plan prove necessary I have a lesbian DD of the appropriate age and definitely fancy being a guest of honour and a big wedding I haven't had to organise (I'm assuming that if your DD marries the sixteenth in line to the throne you're excused the heavy lifting of wedding planning, and can invite as many tiara-fanciers as you like).

Maireas · 03/06/2022 20:30

Excellent back up plan, @ItsaTIARA ! ( Love your user name 😉)
Sounds like we've got some bases covered. Anyone got offspring for the Chatto lads? I reckon Sarah would be a good in-law.

I have two daughters. Both very eligible.

KillingMeDeftly · 03/06/2022 20:40

Was one of the Chatto lads in uniform?

Maireas · 03/06/2022 20:48

Indeed, @KillingMeDeftly ! The Marines.
Warning - the article contains images of a young man in a gym.....

It certainly does! Shock

I rather like this photo with the two sculptural hats and the light silhouettes of the ladies’ outfits against the darker surroundings.

I was going to ask why Peter was there alone and then remembered he's divorced now. The Duke of Gloucester's son also attended solo but his wife is a doctor so perhaps she had an emergency.

RomainingCalm · 03/06/2022 21:35

@NiqueNique That's a great photo. We don't talk enough about Sarah Chatto's collection of 'cardigans for every occasion' - she always looks fabulous and has such a personal style.

I also liked the picture below of Princess Michael of Kent - thought she looked wonderful.

I can't remember who wrote earlier about Sophie always looking so proudly and fondly at Lady Louise - this was one of those moments.

There's also a lovely clip online of Prince Charles blowing a kiss to Kate when they arrive.

What a great couple of days of Royal S&B. 😊
