I give up now! Just reading another DM article and it calls the colour ‘cream’.

This is frustrating. Angry

Anyway. A great day for royal fashion!

RomainingCalm · 03/06/2022 14:28

Some lovely outfits today, I approve. (mostly 😊).

Kate looks great in the yellow and I like the way her formal wear is becoming more 'dress' and less 'coat' if that makes sense. Thought Meghan looked beautifully polished as always. The flappy bit on the back of her coat was a bit odd but it looked better in the videos than the photos.

I wish there had been better pictures of the navy dress that Meghan was wearing yesterday as it looked very much 'her' - simply cut but really well done.

susiebluebell · 03/06/2022 14:42

Yes, in fact I think Kate's outfit was genuinely a dress and not a coat-dress today! Still that very familiar silhouette though.

On reflection, I think everything I've seen today did a good job of being individual but not jaw-dropping or show-stealing. It was a church service after all 😊

I’ve been looking on twitter for a picture of Sophie Winkleman (aka Lady Frederick Windsor) and she’s definitely wearing the same dress as as Bea. It’s a Beulah dress - you might have thought the designer (who surely knows them both as she knows Kate and often dresses royals) would have said something. Or maybe they both loved it and didn’t care…

Whoops.
They both look stunning though.
I really like Megs' look including the back flap. Her hat is lovely too and an interesting shape. It's nice to see a different shape than the saucer places diagonally in the head with flowers underneath.

Many of the main players are channelling a 30/40s vibe.

Poor Lady L has a cracking bruise on her shin! Wonder if a horse whacked her!

KillingMeDeftly · 03/06/2022 14:44

I learned something new from that Grazia piece - the Lady Dior bag was named after Diana!

KillingMeDeftly · 03/06/2022 14:45

Kate's dress is Wickstead, which is surprising (to me at least!) as I thought McQueen was her go-to designer for big events. And has Meghan abandoned Givenchy?

hopeishere · 03/06/2022 14:56

I love Kates. Great colour and shape. Meghan looks a bit bunched up like she has a whole other outfit on underneath!! And I don't like the back flap. But she looks happy.

Zara also looks trussed up. Embrace the v neck!!

I think Bea and Claudia's dresses are off the peg so no designer involved.

NiqueNique · 03/06/2022 15:00

Meghan does have an outfit on underneath - It’s a trench coat she’s wearing, not a dress.

We’re so used to seeing coat dresses that I really thought it was one until I had a closer look at the photos!

SenecaFallsRedux · 03/06/2022 15:06

Yes, I saw a more detailed description (can't remember where) that said it is a coat worn over a skirt and blouse. Head-to-toe Dior, by the way.

Ah! That makes sense!! Would have liked to see the under outfit!

Claire Waight Keller, the designer that Meghan worked with, left Givenchy a couple of years ago and doesn’t currently work with a label, so possibly is no longer available. Meghan has worn Dior before though. Although buying a beautiful coat from Dior and not having it fit properly makes me sad. 😪

I too was surprised to see that Kate’s lovely outfit was by Emilia Wickstead. I haven’t liked too much of what she’s made for Sophie and Kate (understatement!), though she’s clearly a favourite of theirs.

NiqueNique · 03/06/2022 15:19

@susiebluebell Yes, it’s definitely a dress, not a coat, and gets a big thumbs up from me!

@RomainingCalm I agree, it’s nice to see her style evolving and moving away from the very strict and rigid ‘rules’ cum comfort zone, even if she is taking her time about making changes. As I’ve said previously, I think Kate has grown into herself and her role over the past few years and we will likely see a more confident and authoritative approach as William’s/her status increases.

KillingMeDeftly · 03/06/2022 15:23

Just seen a pic of Charles and Camilla and she looks very nice but blimey, he looks roughly the same age as HMQ! I wouldn't be surprised if she outlasts him the way she's going. I don't recall her or the DoE looking so elderly at the same age.

Ah - that probably explains it. I expect she’s ended up with something more substantial underneath than originally planned as it’ll seem quite chilly in London after California. She’s looking great given how jet lagged she must be.

DisforDarkChocolate · 03/06/2022 15:36

When Charles got out of the car I though he looked dapper but so old compared to his parents at the same age.

LadyEloise1 · 03/06/2022 15:37

Kate, Zara, Bea, Gabriella, Carrie and Louise look fabulous.
Meghan is so beautiful but I'm not keen on the belted coat. It makes the midriff area look big and she she's certainly not big but perhaps she is pregnant ?
Sarah Chatto is in her own inimitable style as always.
Is Lady Helen Taylor there ? She is usually very stylish.
I too love those hats Kate wears with the flower to the side @Eaumyword.

I'm sure Andrew is beyond angry he's not there - apparently he has Covid but his daughters have done him proud.
It's sad the Queen couldn't make it but she's some woman for 96.

eggandonion · 03/06/2022 15:45

Andrew can't even join the Queen for a sandwich and nourishing soup. I wonder is Fergie ok.

gluenotsoup · 03/06/2022 16:00

I would like to see what Dior outfit Meghan had under the coat. If it was Dior it seems a shame that the reports are saying they went straight back to Frogmore rather than attending the reception afterwards with the rest of the royals. Who knows? I wish she had worn a bolder lipstick though.

bananaboats · 03/06/2022 16:01

Loved Kate in yellow but wasn't keen on Meghan's look at all I thought it made her look rather boxy. Lady Louise looked good in the white dress & headband, seemed a lot more modern than more of the other stuff we've seen her in.

NiqueNique · 03/06/2022 16:08

I think any public mixing with senior royals and especially W & K would have been analysed to death and taken all focus away from the Queen and the Jubilee. I don’t think the family could risk it and they’ve done the right thing in keeping it all very carefully managed. We may hopefully see a few more personal family-orientated photos released (possibly from Lili’s birthday party/lunches/maybe a christening photo if they managed to swing that) once the official celebrations are over. That way it wouldn’t detract.

SnottyLottie · 03/06/2022 16:15

I think Sophie and Louise looked truly lovely today. The back of Sophie’s dress was really beautiful. And I like how Louise softened her pristine white dress with a soft pink headband, which also co-ordinated well with the metallic pink of Sophie’s outfit.

She posted something on Instagram thanking HMQ for her extraordinary service etc. Fergie knows which side her bread is buttered!

NiqueNique · 03/06/2022 16:21

Yes I agree Louise looked lovely. I thought she pulled off the headband very well actually. Also agree that many of the women had beautiful outfits, well thought out attractive but not too look-at-me. I need to go back and have a more detailed look at it all.

gluenotsoup · 03/06/2022 16:41

Yes, Sophie and Louise did both look lovely and coordinated. It’s a tricky age to be in the spotlight and Louise looks pretty and stylish today. One thing I always notice is how Sophie looks at Louise with pride and watchful guidance, or at least that’s how I see it. They seem a close family.

KillingMeDeftly · 03/06/2022 17:30

Louise looked lovely today and her dress was proof that you can do demure and age-appropriate without being matronly. If she's 18 then she must be off to university in September?
