She will be safe today though - it would not be prudent to make Jubilee celebrations/the Queen’s birthday all about her. I think it’s a tightrope walk for her, tbh and I can understand why she plays it safe on state occasions. I’d rather see more adventurous outfits on other occasions and/or day-to-day assignments.

KillingMeDeftly · 02/06/2022 11:33

It's a coat dress very similar to the coral one she wore last week. She looks very elegant and I like her up-do and jewellery. The white suit will serve her well later when she breaks out the Saturday Night Fever moves at the Trooping after party 😆

Charlotte and George look very smart but honestly, a sailor suit on Louis? I thought the Cambridges want to position themselves as the future of the monarchy but he looks like the ghost of the Tsarevich Alexei!

Eaumyword · 02/06/2022 11:35

I LOVE Carrie Johnson's pink dress and hat. She looks lovely.

NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 11:36

It’s an echo of outfits worn by Prince William and possibly Harry too, at the parade in 1985.

Personally i think it makes perfect sense to nod to history and heritage in this way. The fact is the monarchy isn’t a modern institution- it’s an institution rooted in centuries of the past.

Some pictures from the Evening Standard.
Kate looks elegant and I love her hat. Camilla looks good in the pale blue stripes. How exciting for the children! They'll remember this all their lives.

Also Kate’s dress is a re-wear (Alexander McQueen), according to the Daily Mail.

Maireas · 02/06/2022 11:49

Yes, @KillingMeDeftly - there's a hint of haemophilia and the Winter Palace in that look, isn't there?
Princess Anne looks never more comfortable than when she's in that uniform atop a horse.

OP posts:
Eaumyword · 02/06/2022 11:55

You're right, Anne looks so at home on her horse!
Darn it, I missed the best bit which was the carriages arriving so have only just seen Sophie's outfit - I love the pink checks.

NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 11:58

I’ll comment more on others’ outfits later when we’ve had a better look. For now I’m just really enjoying the ceremony!

Kate looks fabulous and I love Charlotte's blue dress!
Can they not put the little boys in shirt, waistcoat and trousers?

But that would look dreadful. A sailor suit is a classic look for a small prince.

NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 12:24

Her Majesty on the balcony wearing the outfit she is pictured wearing on the new official portrait released in connection with Jubilee celebrations. Lovely coat with lovely embroidery.

Maireas · 02/06/2022 12:26

Lovely coat, and slightly unusual shape of hat for HM. Nice to see her inspect the troops, supported by the D of K.

I'm rooting for Louise to be the next fashion star, she must be in a great position to push it a bit as she's not 'senior'.

Maireas · 02/06/2022 12:51

Did anyone see Louise today?.

OP posts:
NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 12:53

She was in one of the carriages. Rosy dress, coat over it, pretty hat.

NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 12:55

(Although I thought the hat looked a tad big and clunky on her head).

NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 13:00

Here you go. Not roses but a floral pattern.

HM's coat and hat are perfect and her choice of brooch really sets it off.

Thanks! Pretty dress. James looks nice.

Meghan looking gorgeous and very chic. I like to think she and Kate have let bygones be bygones and coordinated their outfits on purpose!

The Tindall kids look a right handful. I saw Mike posting thanking a hotel for their stay!!

Kate looks great. The glimpses of Meghan she looks lovely too. Louise's hat and jacket were worn by her mum in the past.

Gooseysgirl · 02/06/2022 13:45

I am really happy to see that Charlotte has finally escaped the smocked dresses 😆 she looked lovely today, nice modern looking party dress. Louis in the sailor suit was too cute 🥰 I don't think I could have resisted the opportunity either if I were Kate!!! Would love to see what all the rest of the ladies were wearing... the York sisters, Sarah Chatto etc. Meghan looks great from the glimpses we've had. I think the Queen totally got it right for the balcony. It was getting ridiculous with the number of them that were crowding on there over the last few years. I'm guessing it will be like this from now on.

Maireas · 02/06/2022 13:50

On the balcony were those that have given "years of service" (apart from the children)

OP posts:
Pallisers · 02/06/2022 13:51

I loved the duchess of cambridge's necklace and earrings. And also the queen's brooch was gorgeous and perfect with the outfit.

KillingMeDeftly · 02/06/2022 13:52

Meghan looks lovely and that's a nice photo of her with the Phillips girls and, I assume, Zara's younger daughter.
