Very relaxed looking. They look relatable there, like they’re off to John Lewis to look at the bedding 😂
Nice outfit, nice flats.

AdaColeman · 31/05/2022 11:35

The Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection holds thousands of items at Hampton Court Palace, which I think would be so interesting to see.

It holds a huge range of things such as a shirt worn by Charles I, the shoes worn by Her Maj on her wedding day, a jacket from Diana's days as a Sloane Ranger... all fascinating stuff.

I love this picture haven't seen it before

@justasking111 That's a lovely photo of Diana, so relaxed and happy! I'm not sure what the outfit is about - doesn't strike me as typical poolside gear - but the cut of it looks absolutely stunning on her figure.

@Maireas I caught the end of Unseen Queen! I love seeing old footage like that, especially when they're just twiddling their thumbs and not aware a camera is recording them. Loads of vintage Royal style too. Did you like it?

Maireas · 31/05/2022 16:38

I love that style, Susie bluebell! Anything 30s/40ss I love. I thought Elizabeth and Margaret both looked so stylish, even rambling in Balmoral!
Those old films are so interesting, the detail telling.

Not strictly S&B but just saw this fab picture on Twitter and thought you lovely lot would appreciate it. No photo credit unfortunately.

Great photo @RomainingCalm

Maireas · 01/06/2022 08:57

That's nice, and strangely touching.

Rosewater - I remember reading that they pass a lot of clothing on, and donate it. The Queen Mother used to donate hers to charitable institutions in Scotland. Pieces of significance, such as wedding, evening and event outfits are archived.
Where Kate's green coats are stored is anyone's guess.

ah that's interesting. I have seen photos of Kate's mum and sister wearing her clothing so perhaps they share in the family too. I do wonder where all of the Kate's green coats are kept haha. Does her stylist ever remind her when she wants to buy another green coat that she already has 20 in storage? I would love to see how they organise everything and what type of system they use for keeping track of it all.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/06/2022 10:05

Love that picture @RomainingCalm

AdaColeman · 01/06/2022 14:54

There is an interesting article on the BBC News website about how the Queen's fashion style has evolved over the years. Search for "Power dressing: The Queen's unique style".
There are a couple of nice photo montages included.

Maireas · 01/06/2022 18:27

That is interesting - thanks for the heads up, Ada.

Sothebys has an amazing looking exhibition of tiara's running until the end of June

www.tatler.com/article/jubilee-arts-season-sothebys-aristocratic-tiaras-spencer-tiara-armada-portrait

I'm not in the UK so I can only enjoy the Jubilee weekend vicariously, but I'm so looking forward to 4 days of outfit watching

100problems · 01/06/2022 19:29

On the subject of Kate's green coats, I realise that I own 3 pink ones. It's like I see a pink coat and go "have it!". I imagine her doing the same online on a Friday night with a glass of wine and a clicky finger Smile

Maireas · 01/06/2022 19:46

I think three pink coats sounds entirely reasonable. I have four red ones.

Eaumyword · 01/06/2022 20:09

This is so true! I have multiple pink coats! Each slightly different though, so it doesn't matter 🤷‍♂️

I went to this today! It’s amazing - so many beautiful tiaras and other items of jewellery. There’s a diamond belt that is just jaw-dropping. Plus the way many of the tiaras are exhibited is extraordinary - they appear to be levitating and revolving with no visible means of doing so. I would definitely recommend dropping by (you literally just walk into Sothebys and it’s in a room at the back of the entrance hall).

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/06/2022 21:09

One of my friends has 10 blue coats!

Changing subject I came across this on the BBC news website
www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-61649612

It's one of HMQ's Bowes-Lyon cousins showing some family childhood photos of her. The bit I like best is where HMQ has measured her height & marked it on the wall over the years with her name.
Age 5 she's written Lilibeth, age 13 Lilibet & age 27 just after she became HMQ she's written the Queen 😁

Some old info on the coronation dress here

NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 11:13

Ahh how nice to see the three Cambridge children riding in the carriage! And Catherine looks great. I can even forgive her the coat dress as I think it’s a great look for today, is well coordinated with Louis’ sailor outfit, and I think the hat is perfect and sets off her look brilliantly!

dolphinsarentcommon · 02/06/2022 11:20

Agree Catherine looks great (is it a coat dress?)

I don't like George and Louis in suits/sailor suits. It's just too twee, but tbf I'm not sure of an alternative.

NiqueNique · 02/06/2022 11:23

I think it’s a classic look for small boys. Not my personal favourite but I can see why Kate does it.

dolphinsarentcommon · 02/06/2022 11:23

It is a coat dress... disappointingly safe.

GrouchyKiwi · 02/06/2022 11:24

Kate and Camilla both look good. I'd like to see more of Sophie's outfit before I commit to that.

When you think of how long the photos from events like this will last it makes sense to dress the children in that way.

Eaumyword · 02/06/2022 11:25

Kate looks fabulous and I love Charlotte's blue dress!
Can they not put the little boys in shirt, waistcoat and trousers?
