The long blouse has the most garish, awful pattern and colours imaginable, imo. Apart from that, the look is nice.

Serenster · 28/05/2022 21:44

The main race is tomorrow, right? Maybe Charlene has something better planned (although, the fact that she is able to be there at all is good news for her mental health I think).

I like Leti’s dress, but not in pink. If it was a bright blue I would absolutely love it.

TuTuLemon · 29/05/2022 07:52

I don't use MN much these days so don't visit/comment on this thread much anymore but yesterday I was indulging in a guilty pleasure and catching up with The Kardashians Blush and it showed Kim going to her clothes archive/storage facility.

It was incredible to see, rows upon rows of clothes and boxes full of accessories. It made think of this thread as we often wondered whether Kate kept all her clothes and where they were stored and I can imagine it is somewhere like this!

I was also thinking it seemed a waste to have all those clothes sitting there not being worn, but Kim posted on Instagram yesterday that the outfit she wore to Kourtneys wedding last week was actually two dresses from her archives work together so in her case it seems she does re wear some things at least.

Sorry to bring the tone of the thread down with my talk of the Kardashians Grin but it's all I could think of as I watching it!

LadyEloise1 · 29/05/2022 09:15

I don't like Charlene's outfit.

gluenotsoup · 29/05/2022 09:26

I like the relaxed shape of Leti’s dress, but not keen on the shade of pink.
I also like the shape of Charlene’s outfit, but not the hideous pattern. I don’t really like that shade of blue and the black blocks are not my thing either. I can’t let Albert off the hook either- he looks frumpy.

100problems · 29/05/2022 10:00

Charlenes outfit might have been saved with blue shoes or flats.

I do wish there was some way that she could find peace of mind and happiness; she looks stricken to me in that shot although possibly because she's realising she's married to some bloke that looks like her dad.

Charlene is in a pale blue jumpsuit for the final. She's looking better, less frail, and it's lovely to see her at events again. Albert has a better outfit on too!

Charlene looks lovely in that sophisticated jumpsuit. The Sixties look is fab. Does it have an open back? Can't tell exactly from the photos but it looks as if the back falls away.

She has a great figure. Her face looks immobile on the left side, and there's a photo showing a lot of wrinkling or scarring on the right side of her face.

I also wonder where the many, many dresses and coats are kept, @TuTuLemon. No doubt in a climate controlled and moth-proof vault of some sort.

KillingMeDeftly · 29/05/2022 21:03

That's a good colour on Charlene but that style of jumpsuit always reminds me of Gumby! I think it's the flared leg.

mathanxiety · 29/05/2022 21:06

Reminds me just a teeny tiny bit of Little Big, the Russian entry to Eurovision the year it was canceled due to covid Smile

KillingMeDeftly · 29/05/2022 21:16

Who knew Gumby was such a fashion icon for royals?

We can call the look "high fashion Gumby"

I'm not a big fan of the jumpsuit on Charlene - I think it makes her resemble a (shapely) Parma violet.

Justkeeppedaling · 29/05/2022 23:35

Charlene's boobs look lopsided in that outfit. Perhaps she had a botched boob op.

I saw the same episode, and I felt overwhelmed just looking at all of the rows of clothing! I think they said that she has 30,000 pieces of clothing in storage!

I do wonder how the royals archive their clothing, how do they decide what to keep and what to get rid of and do they not feel overwhelmed by the massive amount of clothing they have. I would assume that Kate has a normal wardrobe with her non working clothing in it that she wears on a daily basis and then some massive storage area for everything else. I wonder if any of the British royals have had stylists who have talked about this? Does anyone know?

Maireas · 30/05/2022 08:37

Rosewater - I remember reading that they pass a lot of clothing on, and donate it. The Queen Mother used to donate hers to charitable institutions in Scotland. Pieces of significance, such as wedding, evening and event outfits are archived.
Where Kate's green coats are stored is anyone's guess.

Did anyone else see "Elizabeth, the Unseen Queen"? I thought it was fascinating.
Her coronation gown looked stunning.

OP posts:
Justkeeppedaling · 30/05/2022 10:32

Do you think they get clothes on loan from clothing designers? It's good publicity for them.

Maireas · 30/05/2022 10:36

They're not allowed, but I suspect with favoured designers they get a good deal with alterations and bespoke numbers.

OP posts:
Eaumyword · 30/05/2022 15:30

It's a bit of a risk for a designer, dressing a royal. Get it right and your brand explodes, but if it doesn't look great, it could be damaging.
Kate's collaboration with Katherine Hooker for example, must have helped with the success of this brand.

SenecaFallsRedux · 30/05/2022 16:37

I read somewhere that Princess Anne has all of her clothes, obviously going back several decades, stored and catalogued by color, fabric, occasion, etc. I would love to see that catalogue.

Maireas · 30/05/2022 16:45

I would too, Seneca! Much of it ordered from Susan Small in 1974, I'll suggest! I heard that she donates riding gear to equestrian charities.

Max and Wax looking like everyone’s favourite auntie and uncle as they visit an area hit by floods last year. Stylistic departure for her with the jumpsuit and a sort of Inca inspired patterned cardi

Nice though. Informal but with a bit of interest.

She has very big feet! Or it might just be the shoes.
Two nice photos though.
