The history of PINK MINGERS

On thread 3 Pink had been allocated as a type of perfume Grin The pink usurper, that is miss Dior being identified as the ring leader.

By thread 4 the phase "utter pink-smelling mingers" leapt forward and a new genre was christened in May 2017

That little trawl made me go all nostalgic. I shall go and find some Pink to settle me.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/06/2022 20:51

SOTD Diptyque Philosykos. 1st June and we have the heating on. 😡

ChiswickFlo · 01/06/2022 21:12

Just realised I won't get my JLR set til Monday at the earliest :( pah.
@Judystilldreamsofhorses it's been rainy here today again 🌧
Hard to know what fragrance to choose atm...its like 4 seasons in 1 day 🙃

Omg!
I can't believe I've been posting since then!!!
(Different mn nn though...I've had about 20 over the years!)

Hate to tell you it has been lovely and warm here, threatening black clouds occasionally but generally almost hot enough for Philosykos. I'm sure it needs to be 24C plus to be worn. Which makes me wonder a wee bit if Judy has the heating on to suit her perfume or warm her cockles. Having spent a few summers in her neighbourhood, I suspect the latter.

The Pink I found was Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh, it smells like an explosion in a Swizzlers factory, so added some Bois d'Ascese by Naomi Goodsir. The blend is rather comforting.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/06/2022 21:28

Ha, @PestorPeston i don’t think it has EVER reached 24 degrees here!

ChiswickFlo · 01/06/2022 21:29

You will be unsurprised to learn I do not own any pink mingers 🤣

Why do the marc Jacobs bottles annoy me so much!? I'm getting old and crotchety😜

Surprised me too, just how long these threads have been going. And then I remember that I have been in my present job for 4.5 years and used to post on the train commute during my previous job Hmm I just feel a tad bit old.

I was gifted the Daisy many years ago, it is still rather full Grin

PestorPeston · 01/06/2022 21:35

The tops of Marc Jacob bottles look like swimming caps that old ladies used to wear when I was small. They would now be supercentenarians.

FFS I now feel even older, thanks Chiswick. Incidentally I used to live there.

Joining the Marc Jacobs hate, both the bottles and the juice within.

Aquamarine1029 · 01/06/2022 23:08

I apologise if this has been discussed already, but has anyone tried Another 13 by Le Labo? I'm thinking of buying it smell unseen. 🙂

PestorPeston · 01/06/2022 23:11

Marc Jacobs peaked with pink grapefruit splash. That was a long time ago.

FestivelyScent · 01/06/2022 23:56

The weather certainly has been decidedly, erm... British for the start of meteorological summer. It plummeted to 6° (!) here last night and isn't really warm today either. I'm currently sat under a blanket.

However, I can't really complain as the sun popped out for a while this afternoon so we made it to Buckingham Palace! 👑 Saw a sculptural tree with filled with what I thought were lanterns, but Google told me they were aluminium pots containing smaller trees. They have erected stands and a stage right in front and it sounded like they they were hosting some sort of rehearsal/sound check. Lots of crowds, but everyone was very cheerful. It looks so celebratory with all the Union flags out everywhere. I may have bought some bunting. 😂😊👑

FestivelyScent · 02/06/2022 00:01

Oops, forgot SOTD which was Ambre Orient. SOTN is Miss Dior Originale.

Hope everyone has a great Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. 👑🎉😊

ChiswickFlo · 02/06/2022 08:11

Republican here so I won't be celebrating the Jubilee but hope the weather keeps fine for those that do

I treated myself to two fragrances this week, which I absolutely love and want to shout about. They are Replica Beach Walk, which is perfect for the summer and Byredo Bal d’Afrique

Enjoy your BH weekend

CorneliaStreet · 02/06/2022 10:27

Do you think we should all be wearing perfume from British houses today? If so, I’ve let the side down with Tocca Florence 😁

Both those houses get a lot of love on these threads! :)
Nice choices 👌

BAL d'Afrique is stunning @Cloud.
I used to absolutely adore it.
Sotd is vintage Diorissimo.
I thought I had totally gone off white Florals but this is addictive. Anything green tinged I generally enjoy.

Regarding the Diorella discussion I've found a vintage mini I'd forgotten I posess. In a black & white houndtooth box.
It smells like skank & soap on my hand & is definitely not nice. I don't get any lemon or melon at all. The last time I smelt this skanky was when I sprayed Theo fennel scent in the Tk Maxx queue & everyone stood well away from me..
I don't suit it at all 😂

ChiswickFlo · 02/06/2022 12:03

Oh, I love me a bit of skank 🙂

Hi everyone hope you are doing well. The perfume adventure continues, I was coming back to the UK yesterday and bought a big bottle of givenchy l'interdit at duty free and omg I'm in love. My late grandfather was half Italian, very vain (at one point in the 1980s he had 40 pairs of shoes) and he smelled divine, of a woody soapy smell very reminiscent of l'interdit. This perfume will remind me of the good times when I was little (he used to wear soft jumpers and was a good hugger).
