Oh hey, I'm new to this thread. Hi 👋
I've only really started getting into perfumes sine turning 40, it always seemed a bit to sophisticated for me before. I used to like really clean scents but just started loving floral scents. Love Chanel 5 it reminds me of my nan and just feels lovely, but I like jadore too and like pp just got some lovely Zara scents for every day.

Anybody have good similar recommendations.

Hope you feel better soon @OneLittleLady. Hello @TheWeeDonkey yes, do check out Fragrantica, it's great for recommending perfumes based on ones you like.

If anyone likes MM Replica When the Rain Stops, try M&S Calm After the Storm. I tried it today and it's a great dupe and inexpensive.

Today I have 1460 Tuesdays Rhubarb & Custard on one wrist and Court of Ravens on the other. I probably smell a bit strange but I love both Grin

Hello, can I join you all too please? I am a very long time lurker. I have discovered so many amazing scents via these threads. I thought it was about time I actually posted!

Sotd is Pink Molecule by Zarko Perfumes. Smells like a grown up version of Dewberry!

Happy belated May day everyone! 🌸

Welcome to the thread new perfumistas! @29ac @TheWeeDonkey @musicmum75 👋😊 and anyone I might have accidentally missed! Fragrantica is indeed a great resource. Basenotes, too, but they just have reviews and don't suggest similar perfumes.

Hoping you feel better again soon @OneLittleLady Infections back to back are no fun. 💐

SOTD yesterday was By the Fireplace, today it's Ambre Orient.

Ooh, I might try the pp dupe of kayali vanilla myself @ChiswickFlo as I love cosy-comfy perfumes.

Sounds love a week of heavenly sniffing is ahead for you @DramaAlpaca - bliss! 😊

Whoever mentioned Zara perfumes being good is right. Don't have any currently, but I used to - they smell very well crafted and much more expensive than they actually are.

I think you'll like it @FestivelyScent

Sotd kayali vanilla to visit mum. Ds1 had an essay dude in today so no doubt at some point I'll be needed to proof read...

Got some potentially bad news yesterday re: mil and I'm feeling a bit odd about it all. Obviously supporting dh but I've been LC for a while (with good reason..) and I'm not sure how to keep my boundaries in place. Sigh.

Ds2 is off out with friends later.

Happy Beltane! 😊

Sounds like a tricky situation, ChiswickFlo, hope you are ok.

I tried a couple of Sana Jardin samples yesterday. Incense Water is actually a lovely rose-patchouli, liked it as the patchouli wasn’t too prominent. Also tried Tiger By Her Side. Some of the reviews on Fragrantica say this is similar to Coromandel, which I’ve never smelled but now really want to as I enjoyed the Sana Jardin. The dry down was lovely, resinous vanilla. It only lasted about three hours though, whereas I think Coromandel is supposed to keep going all day. Those Chanel Exclusifs are terrifying prices though.

No SOTD yet as still in my pyjamas. Thank god for Bank Holidays!

That does sound like a difficult situation @ChiswickFlo - hoping you're OK too.

Chanel Exclusifs are so difficult to sample too @CorneliaStreet - there are a few I've wanted to try; next time I'm in London I'm determined to get to a dept store with testers (if I can remember to do so and don't become sidetracked by the other counters!).

SOTD is Tobacco Vanille, for a lazy May day bank holiday (which I'd forgotten about again this morning). 🙃

SOTD PP Tobacco Vanille. This isn't an instant love like the Angels' Share but I think it may grow on me. On me it's got a slight medicinal note which I'm not sure I like but I do keep sniffing my wrist, which is usually a good sign!

My free sample of the new Gallivant, Gdansk, has arrived. I sprayed some on DD as I was already wearing perfume and I now keep following her round the house asking for another sniff as she smells so gorgeous. It's warm, smoky and a bit sweet, really lovely. All the Gallivants I've tried have been multi-layered with good longevity so looking forward to seeing how this one develops.

Thanks for the welcomeSmile SOTD is Black Tie by Celine. I love this one so much but I wish it lasted longer on me. It feels like a perfume neutral - one that always works when I don't know what I am in the mood for.

@CorneliaStreet I love Incense Water and Tiger By Her Side. The latter is one of my favourites.

I will be in St Pancras tomorrow so am going to pop into Chanel and sniff some of Les Exclusifs. I particularly want to try Beige.

SOTD YSL Libre since my second bout of Covid isolation (Scotland so different rules) ended today.

I love Tobacco Vanille @CorneliaStreet - the pp dupe is very close. 😊

Ooh, I didn't know they had Chanel at St Pancras, thanks for mentioning it @musicmum75 Mind you, I was carrying so much luggage last time I passed through, and rushing from King's Cross trying to look for the Thameslink (toilets first, though!), I could only admire the smart shopfronts in a distracted, envious kind of way. Will look harder next time.

SOTD is Ambre Orient, for an out-of-sorts sort of day. 🙃

Ah, good old perimenopausal insomnia strikes again ☹️

@missbattleaxe I've finally ordered a gallivant discovery set (on your recommendation) I'm really looking forward to trying them 😀

They sky here this morning is gunmetal grey and heavy looking.

Busy day doing administrative type things yesterday which is always a headache but got it all done.

Managed to get my mil a Neurology appointment in 3 weeks time.

Just need to phone hospital re: mums outpatient tests today.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses glad you're "free" again! What a torrid time you've had.

I think sotd will be avon Timeless

Could I pick your brains? My all time favourite spring summer scent is MMM Untitled, but out of my budget. Pp don’t do it. Can anyone recommend a dupe?
and are there any scents that have petrichor as a note? Thanks.
