Reading your posts I'm now really tempted by Diorella. Where can you buy safe samples?
And what does the modern version smell like now? I think I've tried some Vintage that was stewed, a while ago.
I must try some of the 4160 Chypres, you've reminded me🙂

I can't remember who asked me about Apercu but bottles can be bought from Onbuy. I've got the perfume & the EDP & they're both wonderful. It's been discontinued for the last 20 years or so I'm not sure where these bottles are coming from. But they do smell & look authentic. It's pretty impossible to buy in the UK.

Sotd is Ffern Summer '19.
I can't work out whether to wear Summer or Winter perfumes at the moment.

Thanks everyone for your replies, they were so helpful. I won't reply individually as I always mess up when I try to @ when using MN, possibly because I'm not using the app.

I will definitely look into the Hermès Jardins series, Miller Harris and 4160 Tuesdays. I found Karen Timson's website just. now so will order one of her discovery sets.
First purchase will be the Perfume Parlour Neroli Portofino, I'm very curious to smell that one!
DH has a bottle of Eau Sauvage but I'm fairly certain it will have turned by now, he's had it at least 10 years, will give it a sniff when I get home.

Thanks for the information about my preferences being citrusy, that certainly helps and will take a look at Fragrantica. I had no idea that citrus types are notoriously lacking in longevity, so I will now adjust my expectations!

Someone upthread mentioned EL Tender Light, I can't refer directly to the post as I'll lose this one if I go back. I'm wearing it today. It was my favourite out of a sample set of their new launch a few months ago.

@Cantonet that was me asking about Apercu, thanks for the tip about where I might find it.

I'll let you know how Diorella smells when it arrives. Though having read about it in the book Scent and Subversion I'm a bit concerned it might be too skanky for me. We shall see. I couldn't find a sample so risked a whole bottle - then remembered that my nearest department store has lots of Dior and they might have had a tester. Duh!

SOTD - Byredo De Los Santos. I LOVE it. It's herby, earthy and smoky. I'm not sure I want to wander round smelling like this as such, (my partner said I smelled like mouthwash!?) but it is lovely. If it was a candle, I'd be all over it.

SOTD is EL Desert Eden. It's incense/rose, really enjoying this one.

SOTD a combo of JM Wood Sage and Wild Bluebell. They have a whole “wild swimming” collection going on in there at the moment which these are both part of.

SOTD yesterday was No19, and evening was Ambre Orient.

Today I wore Dancing with Strangers and was soaked during a thunderstorm. Five minutes later the sun was shining! 😂 Got home and was so tired and cold and full of migraine that I have been sat under a blanket all evening. 😴

Went shopping yesterday and it was nice seeing all the flags and bunting and platinum jubilee decorations in the shops. It all looks so cheerful. 👑👑👑

Was hoping to go up to London today to look at the jubilee decorations on the Mall etc, but the weather is looking a bit iffy, so I don't think we'll make it. 🌧️🌂☔ 😞

I tried several of the new m&s Jo malone-a-likes...spicy Amber was OK. Ds2 liked the red Berry one. I rather liked the autograph neroli too.
He bought some Molton brown spicy pink pepper shower gel :)
I'm planning on a LJR purchase once I get my grubby mits on my discovery set :)

Oh, now worried I've made a controversial recommendation. I bought a sample of Diorella from creed samples. Having loved that, I bought a vintage bottle from Etsy that isn't stewed; it's more complex and chypre-y, but I think my nose is not sensitive enough to make a very significant distinction.
It's not a fragrance I'd have as an every day scent, but I do think it's beautiful. Turin and Sanchez rate the vintage 5, the reformed 4. Whatever we make of their ratings.

Tried the last couple of EL samples today. Earlier was Paradise Moon, which to my nose was very similar to 4160 Doe in the Snow, with that peachy/cold feel. This evening is Infinite Sky, which is completely misnamed as it isn’t light or airy, but a spicy/amber/vanilla thing. Like this one.

As that was the last of the set, I obviously had to order some more samples. Karen Timson discovery set now on its way, plus five pick and mix samples from Feel Unique. I’m telling myself it’s fine as it’s not full bottles 😆

Hope you’ve got your feet up now @ChiswickFlo, sounds like a tiring day after a bad night’s sleep. Since I hit my forties I keep waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep for hours. HRT has helped a bit. Wine is also pretty good 🙂

I agree about the Estee Lauders, inoffensive is the right word. There weren’t any I hated and some I liked, but there weren’t any I was really blown away by.
