Is the colour of this dress tacky?

I can't decide if it's heartily for summer or tacky as it's too bright?!

Thoughts please!!!

@GrapesThatThrive yes I will! The cos models often are strange I think - not what most average people look like so it's hard to imagine yourself in their clothes for sure but when I go in their store everything is such amazing quality so I'll put my trust in them and hope it's nice !

I think it's a gorgeous dress. If I had the colour and a tall slim frame, I'd buy it.

seven201 · 12/04/2022 08:38

*colouring

GrapesThatThrive · 12/04/2022 08:41

Ok, sounds good. I'm preparing myself to be very jealous of your tall slim body in that dress though... My stained joggers and nursing vest on my 5ft3in frame just ain't cutting it Grin

bellaiceberg · 12/04/2022 12:37

Hah! I noticed in Guardian Lifestyle yesterday that bight cerise pink is the colour of the moment. If i had to incorporate it, which I might because I like it, it would be blended in with other bright colours in a light kimono design, never a solid block.

It is the combination of this style and colour in the Cos dress that confuses me a little, but then I am not terribly adventurous!

IShouldBeSoLurky · 12/04/2022 12:41

I bought that dress 🤣 I’m tall and slim and in theory it should have worked on me. However it does not. It’s horribly clingy, heavy nasty- feeling fabric and shows acres of bra strap and VPL. It’s going back.

valerianaofficiana · 12/04/2022 13:40

@IShould, with dresses like this one you must size up, it shouldn't show vpl, go up 2 sizes and it'll look tres chic.

Onthetrain75 · 12/04/2022 13:44

Sorry I’m going to disagree! If you are tall and can carry it off then with flats on a hot summer day I think it would look good. I think brights look great in high summer. Maybe with a plain white linen shirt cover up too?

JMAngel1 · 12/04/2022 13:58

You will look gorgeous in it. Finally, someone posting a dress on Style that isn’t a floral gathered monstrosity 😂
I have a gorgeous Cos dress tank like this in slate grey. Get loads of compliments. Go for it.

CoconutAmericano · 12/04/2022 15:42

It's Cos so in my experience the dress really needs to be tried on to gauge whether it suits you or not. Cos can be tricky like that.

JinglingHellsBells · 12/04/2022 15:49

looks like a nightie.

Unless someone is a size 6 and happy to go braless, it's not a nice dress.

worriedatthistime · 12/04/2022 16:19

I have a tall sliM friend this would look great on, me as short dumpy not so
Depends on body shape
I like colour

Iamthewombat · 12/04/2022 16:37

Give it a go, OP. The only thing I don’t like about the dress is that it’s too low, front and back, and would show my bony chest. If it were halterneck style I’d get it. I think that longish tube dresses are a stylish look, possibly because we haven’t seen many of them in the past few years. I, too, am sick of seeing flouncy floral sack dresses.

kel91 · 12/04/2022 19:51

Nope ! If i could pull it off i bloody would !xxx

Legslegs · 12/04/2022 19:58

I definitely prefer if to the floral dresses that are everywhere.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 12/04/2022 22:05

It just reminds me of the multipacks of summer beachwear from the Freeman's catalogue my mother used to have - one pink, one yellow, £9.99 over 20 weeks at 50p.

Same here.
MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 12/04/2022 22:30

Cos tends to be a bit weird sizing and fabrics sometimes-I always have to try on. Some things that look great on the hanger then look like a sack of spuds on me-and vice Versa. And that first model needs to stand up straight, and use some core muscles or they are going to really struggle as they get older!

Zazdar · 12/04/2022 22:36

I’d wear it.

I don’t think the model’s pose does it any favours.

SoManyTshirts · 12/04/2022 22:37

I know it’s fuschia but XH and his colleagues always called it ‘menopause pink’.

Very old-fashioned now, possibly due for a revival?

carefullycourageous · 12/04/2022 22:40

@nancy75

I’m olive skinned & could wear the colour, but the shape would make me look like a sunburnt sausage in a too tight skin
Grin great description
Iamthewombat · 12/04/2022 22:46

Loads of posters REALLY don’t want you to buy the dress. Which means that you definitely should.

PickAChew · 12/04/2022 22:48

The colour is only tacky if it doesn't suit you. The style and fabric look more boohoo than cis, though.

IShouldBeSoLurky · 12/04/2022 23:01

Tried it on again. Sizing up might work but then it will probably bag over my hips. Will give it a go even though I don’t like the fabric. The colour is lovely though - more a deep rose than hot pink, really flattering on almost all skin tones I think.

Noooo! The flouncy floral sack dresses need to stay around for us shortie porkers!
