How did I survive without Vinted in my life!?

Very late to the game, but it's bloody wonderful - a Baukjen top for £4, a pure silk Whistles dress for £35, an Esprit top for £1.50, all in excellent condition. Just fantastic!

It's addictive isn't it.

My favourite find was an authentic fairisle hand knit. Also, more recently, a pleated vintage skirt for alteration.

PangolinPie · 04/04/2022 12:39

Er yes maybe a bit too addictive. Like the IKEA of clothes shopping!

It's amazing! Discovered it a couple of months ago and got a bit obsessed, I am having to try and restrict myself now or I won't have any room left in my wardrobe. I have bought a couple of things which didn't quite fit/suit me but the majority has been fab and I never spend more than £10 max, normally more like £5.

Stabbitystabstab · 04/04/2022 12:41

I finally found a 90s black crochet cardi to replace the one I wrecked on a door handle.
Joe brown dresses, lovely wool coat...
I love it!!

CornishGem1975 · 04/04/2022 12:42

I just don't get it - people keep recommending it to me and telling me they find great stuff but every time I go on it looks like tat! Am I searching wrong?

You need to search good quality brands imo. Don't be scared to ask the seller for more photos etc. Of course there is some tat but that's not been my experience.

I'll have to give it another go when I get chance. Maybe I am not being specific enough!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 04/04/2022 12:48

Yeah I love it, I have lots of lovely hearts and roses skater dresses and nowhere to wear them! As well as some oasis and ted baker ones

picklemewalnuts · 04/04/2022 12:51

Has it taken over from eBay, for second hand clothes? People used to rave about eBay but there was nothing when I started looking.

BelleTheBananas · 04/04/2022 12:59

I bought a pair of white/blue adidas superstars at the weekend from Vinted, brand new, £30. Absolute bargain.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/04/2022 13:05

Ds fulfils his Ralph Lauren addiction with Vinted Grin

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 04/04/2022 13:09

I also bought some drmartins for my 10 year old that had only been worn once for £60 he loves them

Arewethebadguys · 04/04/2022 13:10

Same! Absolute game changer!

MadeForThis · 04/04/2022 13:13

I took a quick look but I couldn't figure out how the postage worked. How do you know how much the postage is???

skyeisthelimit · 04/04/2022 13:18

I have been selling on there more so than buying and made £400 in about 6 months, selling clothes, jewellery, toiletries etc.

I have bought an outfit from there for my cousin's wedding, a £70 dress for £20, brand new, with a jacket.

MadeForThis the postage is added when you select which option you want. You can collect it from a local point which is cheaper, or chose to have it delivered to your door.

How is Vinted different to eBay? A more popular platform right now so there is more choice?

5329871e · 04/04/2022 13:20

I’ve gotten some designer handbags from Vinted for a fraction of the RRP. They’re in great condition - better than if I’d bought them new and used them for a week, anyway! Yep I love Vinted.

It doesn’t charge commission so the prices are more reasonable
inmyslippers · 04/04/2022 13:22

I love it, it adds up though spent £100 last month but you get soo much for your money

inmyslippers · 04/04/2022 13:23

^^ much easier to find items, after a while it throws up suggestions and reels of stuff you'd actually buy. It's why I'm hooked

TotoAnnihiliation · 04/04/2022 13:23

I've some fabulous bargains on there but have felt a bit harassed by the sellers. I had a notification from the parcel company to say that my delivery had been posted through my door. Then I got a message from the seller asking to confirm it had arrived. I was at work and couldn't reply then got another message 2 hours later. A similar story on another purchase.

Floisme · 04/04/2022 13:29

Descriptions like 'addictive' aren't exactly selling it to me. Plus I've seen a few threads along the lines of, 'Shit I've just sold something on Vinted, now what do I do?' - also not persuasive. I may be forced to give it a go eventually if real second hand shops continue to go downhill, but I'm biding my time.

ArabeI · 04/04/2022 13:43

Others have said, on past threads, that it's like eBay in the early days, re. friendliness.

I've also found it easier to find things, cheaper than eBay, and the sellers seem to post with lightning speed compared with eBay (they tend to photograph, as standard, the proof of posting, along with the tracking number.

I also noticed there appear to be more people who model the clothes they're selling, which I found unusual at first, but it's helpful when buying.

ZittiEBuoni · 04/04/2022 13:48

I've sold a lot on Vinted this year and it's a million times preferable to eBay from the selling point of view, so easy (and the Yodel parcel point is minutes from my house, which helps).

Also as a PP mentioned it recommends things you actually like. I've bought gorgeous Anthropologie, Boden, Sezane stuff NWT for less than half price.

Anyway, you've reminded me, got a lovely East summer dress to parcel up and send off - now I'm wondering if someone on this thread is the buyer...

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/04/2022 13:48

I love depop and vinted. Good if you know what you are after. Right now I'm looking for cable knits, Fred Perry dresses, Timberland boots and cord jackets!
